((Well, my birthday was absolutely amazing, because I probably have the most wonderful friends on the face of the planet... Then two days later, my cat (who I had since I was five) got hit by a car.... Then I realized that the boy who spent thirteen hours with me that day was the best possible person I could have in my life right now... and as it turns out, he felt the same... But because of housing and jobs, he has to move about 300 miles away in less than two months... But we're making the most of the time we have together.
I guess I fail at being brief, but yeah... Anyway. RP time!))
TJ exchanged a brief amused look with Rakata at the phrase "tha place full o' weirdies," but let slip a little snicker at the thoughts he sent her. I guess so, she returned, accompanying the silent reply with a shrug, and shivering pleasantly as he dried their rain-soaked forms. Feels nice, she thought at him with a grin. You're simply full of surprises, aren't you?
She accompanied him to the counter and smiled reassuringly at the woman. "And two drinks?" she put in. To Rakata, she added with a wink, "I can pay for those."

((Win indeed, and of quite epic proportions! biggrin Yeah, it was awful. But based on how little external damage he had, it was probably a head or neck injury so it was most likely really fast. Still, though...))
"That's a plus," TJ said with a shrug, returning the money she had pulled halfway out of her pocket and sliding into the seat opposite Rakata. "I guess being an absurdly advanced soldier has its perks...."
She followed his gaze and absently rested her chin on a hand. "I don't know," she murmured. "Not really. We still don't have a regular schedule, and it seems like every time we try to get something done the place ends up getting shot to pieces. It's a little counterproductive, if you know what I mean...."
In the periphery of her vision, something glinted in the glow from the low-hanging ceiling lights. TJ turned to seek out the source of the glimmer and noticed-- for the first time, which surprised her-- a little silver bracelet with the word bravery inscribed on its face. "Hey, where'd you get this?" she asked, reaching out gently and turning his hand over to inspect it further. A smile was playing upon her face. "It must have been a gift-- you don't strike me as the type to go out and buy jewelry...."
((Page 49... I was feeling nostalgic so I did some backtracking, and found some cool stuff to reference.... lol. Plus I'm passively bringing Boo back, 'cause she seems kind of bored...
OH!! But I forgot to mention one of the wonderful things that happened... I got introduced to tabletop gaming... World of Darkness is so much win O_O ))

Rakata laughed for a moment. "yes, it does have its perks. such as being able to protect those close to you...most of the time anyway." he told her. she reached across the table and took his hand to look a the bracelet he had on his wrist. "and come to think of it, your right. i havent been to one legit class this year yet. something i plan on changing very shortly..." he said, smiling continuing on a different line of thought. "nope. never bought a piece of jewelry. this was a gift..." he said. "though I was unaware that you knew how to read Russian..guess im not he only one full of surprises" his eyes glassed over a bit as he recalled when he got it. "...it was shortly after a little un-planned jaunt into northern Russia that it was given to me. my team was heading back to the Ukraine, when out bird got shot down by a SAM site. we all survived the crash, because we had an extremely gifted pilot. we stumbled into a village under cover of night, and saw the local militia ruffing up some civilian men, and putting others into trucks at gunpoint. I want planning on getting involved until a middle aged woman, saw us in the ally opposite of her house. she was able to get over to us, and our translator told us that the militia was taking them away and was going to push them into service in the terrorist cell in that area, one we had just dealt a bit of a blow to on the mission by destroying an arms manufacturing facility." long story short, we planned an attack, and took out he leaders of the cell, and drove the trucks of civilians back to the village..." he finished as he held up his wrist, showing the bracelet some more "...and thats where I go this from. the middle aged woman, gave it to me in thanks for rescuing her husband and 2 boys." Rakata recounted as their drinks arrived. he took a drink and thought more about his team. he hadn't been with them in a while. after his family's murder, he had been deemed unfit for combat, because of severe PTSD. he laughed again. "I find it funny that ive grown up killing people for most of my life, and yet there is still something to love inside of me."
((I got a phone call earlier this week, and one of my best friends passed away on sunday night. im completely torn apart over it. we were great friends for like 3-4 years. not something you would pass off lightly.))
((so thats what been happening in my life recently. hows your going?))
((after re-reading some of the previous post, i just realized how WRONG i was about the bracelet. complete violation of continuity, but ah well. im sure i could come up with an interesting story for why Annabelle ended up giving it to me.))

((Umm, kay, I guess it's my turn then. Imma just consider that to mean you went through the forest and ended up at the pizza place? Wheee.... Happy holidays everyone <3 ))
"I... don't read Russian," she said, frowning in puzzlement. "At least, I don't think I do." Strange....
She watched as his expression fogged; he was sinking into his memories again. She didn't want to shake him from them, but she didn't want to leave him alone with his ghosts either; she simply tightened her grip on his hand to let him know that she was still there. He had been through so much, had seen so much death-- caused it-- and yet had saved so many lives. He was a brave soul indeed, and he kept fighting every day.
She reached out with her free hand and curled it gently around his, so she was holding them both. "Of course there's still something to love inside of you," she said. "There's everything to love inside of you. Trust me." She smiled, and kissed first one set of battle-worn knuckles, then the other.
"Hey Rakata?" came a voice from beside them. TJ jumped violently, and in her surprise let go of Rakata's hands. It was Annabelle, the girl Rakata had been training in the field before they had gone... artifact hunting...
"Hey, Annabelle," TJ said, smiling and running a hand through her hair. She could feel herself blushing. Annabelle was playing with a ball of energy, showing Rakata how much she had improved over the past few days. How much of their conversation had she heard? How much had she seen?
