No! Neechan is for older SISTERS! eek

Er, so Charlie has basically called Andrew his 'older sister'? xd rofl

Ah, I think you, Sinful or someome else proficient in Japanese family terms should spell them all out so that us boys don't get confused so much. xp

Honorifics.

Ani or nii-san/chan/kun: Term for elder brother.
Ane or nee-chan: Term for elder sister.
Imouto: Younger sister.
Otouto: Younger brother. [[ Note: Not sure if that's spelt correctly. ]]

-san: (eg. t0sh-san.) This is the most common honorific, as it is equivalent to Mr., Miss, Ms., etc. It is the all-pupose honorific and can be used in any situation where politness is required.

-sama: A higher level then 'san'. It is used to confer great respect.

-dono: This comes from the word 'tono', which means 'lord'. It is an even higher level than 'sama', and confers utmost respect.

-kun: This suffix is used at the end of boy's names, to express familiarity or endearment. It is also sometimes used be men among friends, or when addressing someone younger or of a lower station.

-chan: This is used to express endearment, mostly toward girls. It is also used for little boys, pets, and even amongst lovers. It gives a sense of childish cuteness.

sempai: This title suggests that the adressee is one's 'senior' in a group or organization. It is most often used in a school setting, where underclassmen refer ro their upperclassmen as 'sempai'. Ut can be used in the workplace, such as when a newer employee addresses an employee who has seniority in the company.

kohai: The oposite of 'sempai'.

bozu: This is an imformal was to refer to a boy; similar to the English term 'kid' or 'squirt'.

Sensei: This is used for teachers, doctors, or masters of any proffession or art.

[blank]: (eg. just Minielf, without the san or anything.) Usually forgotten in these lists, but perhaps the most significant difference between Japanese and English. The lack of honorific means that the speaker has permission to address the person in a very intimate way. Usually, only family, or spouses, or very close friends have this kind of permission. Known as 'yobisute', it can be very gratifying when someone has earnes the intimacy starts to call one by one's name without and honorific. But when intmacy hasn't been earned, it can also be very insulting.

Do not quote this post.
thank you.

Ofcourse, ofcourse, nii-chan ish the term I'm looking for.

To add to Sin post:

Onee-san ish sister.
Onii-san ish brother.
Otouto ish little brother.
Imouto ish little sister.
Otou-san is dad.
Okao-san is mom.
Ojii-san is grandpa.
Don't confuse this with uncle. (Oji-san)
Obaa-san is grandma.
Don't confuse this with aunt. (Oba-san)

You can change the san to any other honorific such as -chan, -sama or -kun.

EDIT: Yesh, people use -sama~! Mokuba calls Seto 'onii-sama' xD (Yu-Gi-Oh)

Hai!
And then there are terms for 'your mother' and 'your father' etc.
But I shan't post those up since I don't have them with me.

Why is my dad completely ignorant? He's working for some damn Filipino Association in Montreal for a while, so I'm like "Kay, it's chill." Then the "association" decided to host a beauty pageant called "Miss Teens" whatever. Obviously, there will be a lot of Filipina girls walking in with huge or not-huge pretty dresses, walking all formal. They will be all pretty. They will be all social and talkative. They will all be gorgeous under their layers of makeup. They will all... etc. The point is... I. Don't. Want. To. GO. domokun I told him already "I don't want to." and he's like "Come on... It's for fun!" The woman in charge called and my dad went "Oh yeaaah yeaaaaaaaah she'll come." Then the woman called me on my cellphone, just not to be rude I replied "Oh... I'll think about it." She's like "NO THINKING. YOU HAVE TO COME. YOU'RE PRETTY!" And I'm like thinking [She is sooooo bullshitting me just to get me to join... stare So I replied "I don't know yet... There might be a good chance that I will accept." Translation = I'm too nice to decline dead straight in your face. My mom also doesn't approve. But even if I told my dad I don't want to, he goes to the woman "Don't worry. She'll join. She said OKAY" LIAR!!! domokun Plus, I don't look Filipina. I look like a Chinese girl so when the other contestants look at me they'll be like "Whadda hell...? gonk "

Parents.
Always making you do stuff you don't want to.
Well, mine do anyhow.
You could just go out on that day or something.
Make up some stuff an excuse.

Well you never know, it might be fun. And you don't have to enter the beauty contest right? Just go along to the thing. Might meet some new friends. wink

And if it really is a snore-fest then just get severely intoxicated, that never fails to liven up the party. xp

@Sin: Wow, some who understands me! crying Parents these days... But hey, I got Chinese school on Sunday mornings... Maybe that will help...? gonk

@Toki: Yeah, my dad said "Go, go! Have fun! Blablabla!" You never know when you can meet more bitchy girls... ninja ESPECIALLY, in a beauty pageant. I told my father "Okaaaay... I'll go if you... ; buy me a dress, buy me nice sandals, buy me new makeup, pay for my new hairdo, pay for a manicure too!" I was sure he would say no because he's sooooo STINGY. Surprinsingly, he said "okay." eek Now, it made me have second thoughts... All those things I can't afford... But, my dad would pay for them... heart _ heart
