He snickered. A sarcastic personality and the fighter mentality. He decided to stir the water a bit and see exactly who he was up against. "Why yes she did...which only encouraged me to do it more and get better at it. Did your mother never teach you to be courteous to people or did you kill her with your rotten tongue before she could?"

His hands now shifted down and tightened around the hilts of his blades, ready to draw them at a moments notice. These two were straight to the point. Direct, blunt, straightforward. That either meant that they were overly cautious or they knew the basics of thieving rules...bait the victim into revealing themselves. They hadn't played into his rouse so far, but this next taunt would tell more about them either way. No matter what though, he knew one thing for sure. The two standing before him were dangerous and he had to be ready for whatever might happen.

Alec watched the man closely. Seeing the possible threat's hands move to his blades made the fur on Alec's tail bristle. His first instinct was to bare his fangs and intimidate the man. But then there was the chance that might not work.

He thought about what Kerana had said earlier regarding the sanctity of life. This lead him to try it her way this once.

"There are only a few reasons why someone with weapons like that would be spying on someone. If you mean us harm, I suggest you turn away now. You are out numbered, and my...friend would like it very much if I didn't have to hurt anyone else today."

Kerana was going to throw a fire ball at him but Alec spoke. It looked like he was going to avoid killing... not just that.. avoid hurting someone. Alec always had an ear for her. She decided not to cast it and see how things play out.

He shrugged. These two were going to play it passive eh? If they had been merchants or weak soldiers, he'd have rushed them and put an end to them. Still, he was not sure he wanted to test his mettle against two people at once. What the hell? I got nothing better to do right now and I have no jobs I'm on. Might as well have a little fun.

He drew his first blade, a short sword from his right side. "Nothing against you two, but I need a welcome distraction. No jobs to do right now and I do hate being bored. I promise not to rough you up too bad." His hand tightened around the blade and he started stepping towards them at an average pace. He did not want to reveal too much early on. Truth be told, he was both slightly afraid and extremely excited.

Nova let out a sigh and flew up above the forest to get a better look at their surroundings. He needed to get a good bearing and not waste any time. When he touched the ground again, he looked at Trinity.

"We might just run into those children again. We need to go in the direction she stormed off to."

Alec growled again, then snarled, then barked. His animal sounds were a call for assistance from the denizens of the forest. In the midst of his calls came the incalculable cries of many birds.

They flew out of the wood line and directly to the the mystery man, ramming and pecking at him.

He grabbed Kerana's hand and pulled her in the directions of the village. "C'mon!"

He laughed as he began swinging his sword. He could feel the birds beaks and talons swiping at him and some of the blows connected, but he did his best to stay ahead of the furious swipes aimed at him using his speed to try and avoid the blows. He did attack back however..each strike upon one of the flying menaces sending their bodies to the ground encased in ice.

Such a loyal enchanted blade. Would not work against bigger targets like those two..but little critters like these...easy. It would take him another 10 minutes to freeze the final bird and sigh audibly. He had maybe 30 cuts across his body...none too deep, but he had lost the trail of those two. He sheathed his blade and began to head out again, eager for what else the day had in store for him.

Trinity nodded Perhaps it may be a good opportunity to regroup.. Although they kept moving on she couldn't help but wonder what to make of Hassai's transformation. She couldn't place her finger on it but he seemed all the more familiar to her. Like family?

As they continued their path through the forest, she asked Nova, "There was something familiar about Hassai's new form. Did the goddess recognize him? I couldn't help but get the sense that he is family. Yet I myself know that I never met him before."

Nova held his hands behind his back as he walked. It was not a fast pace, despite the urgency of this journey.

"I do not know. If he feels like family to you then it would be because of your link with the Goddess. If he is family to her and permanently taken over Hassai's body then I believe the race of the Valkyrie is now extinct. A pity but there was no future for him. Not as a Valkyrie." He stated as a matter of fact.

An overwhelming sadness came upon her as Nova said this. The last of the Valkyries, the last of my kind? The last of my people. The tears start to flow. "Damn it! Not again! " she slammed the side of her fist into the side of the tree. "It's the goddess... pointing that out... overwhelming... sadness" She needed to get a hold of this now. She didn't want to be caught off guard in case of an attack. She took a moment by the tree to try to refocus her feelings, it was more difficult to without the choker.

"You are not of the Valkyrie. Remember that. The Goddess might be but you are not. Focus on your task ahead. Grieve when it's over." Nova stated as a matter of fact.

"Besides, nothing is truly gone if it's remembered."

Kerana, watched as Alec handled the situation. The man was looking for a fight and wasn't going to take no for an answer. She frowned a little as Alec sacrificed birds to get them out of there. Was there really no other way to go about this? Kerana looked to the ground, and followed Alec as they head toward the village. She didn't want to nag him about the matter, instead she decided to keep it to herself for now.

Once they had put some distance between themselves and their would be assailant, Alec leaned against a tree and gagged. Each fallen animal had registered with him, and it had concluded with him feeling physically sick.

He threw up a clear liquid and coughed a few times as he tried to catch his breath. He shook his head in disbelief.

"I...I didn't think he'd...that he could...all those birds. By the elders, I sent them to their doom."

Kerana was not going to say anything about how she felt. That changed when she saw the effect Alec's decision had. There are times when she could have sworn her guardian was reading her mind. At first she didn't know what to say, expressing her thoughts from earlier would only make him feel worse and there was no need to let him know that, that may have not been his best move. Instead she started off with something a bit more immediate.

"Alec! Are you okay?..." her eyes were filled with concern.
