He lifted his hand and let it hang at his side lazily. "Force of habit. Often times I find myself letting it rest there instead of at my side. In danger it allows for quick draw and besides, it is quite comfy."
He shrugged and gave the man a smirk. "Tell you what, you give me your name as I asked first and I'll tell you about the blade. I think that's more than fair..don't you?"

He doubted this guy was going to play any fairer than the wolf, but it was worth a shot. Maybe he had a bounty or someone was looking for him. Anything he could possibly use as leverage was a point in his favor. If anything else, there was always his partner.

"You seem to care a great deal about names. So I shall give you mine." He made a short courtesy bow" The name is Nova Blancke. I didn't catch your last name?"

Kerana

"I know... I'm sorry... I'm sorry I drove you to that decision... and I was not opposed to hurting him in self defense. I was just saying that killing shouldn't be your first option." she lifted his chin and look into his eyes hidden behind his hair. "You're a guardian, not a killer no matter what your instinct tells you. Killing is the last option." she hugged him. She really did not want to loose him to his killer instinct.

"Is there anyway we can make it up to them... about the birds? Would a prayer of sorts help?"

Alec shook his head. "No amount of verbal penance would suffice. The next time I request something from these woods, it will require a personal sacrifice."

He looked back into her eyes for a moment before averting his. "Please don't look at me like that. I'm supposed to be the one protecting, and worrying about, you."

With her eye contact she hoped to not only get through to Alec but also to his inner ancient guardian, Zephyr.

After Alec responded, Kerana backed away and pouted. "What? Is there a rule now that I can't care for or worry about my guardian? You should know by now, you're more that that to me. You can't just tell me to stop worrying or protecting you because that's not going to happen!" she turned away with her arms folded and her tail jerking around in agitation.

She narrowed her eyes and folded her arms. Although Trinity has opened up to this new party she was not going to easily open up to anyone. She studied him from afar and with her background of being a black smith she did noticed that the weapon he wields is enchanted but couldn't tell at the moment what kind. She adjusted her stance to be defensive in case he was here for the price on her head.

Veran quickly scanned the list of possible names to find something that sounded convincing. Name after name cycled through his head in the fraction of the few seconds of a pause he took. "Covington. Kitar Covington." The woman seemed to be studying him closely as if she were entranced by something. He tried to guess where her eyes were gazing and figured they were either fixated on his swords or his.....

"you know sweetheart, you stare long enough in one spot and people get ideas." He wanted to snap her back to attention and get her mind off of his blades. They were not only his babies, but his link to the criminal world. The ice blade wasn't so well known, but his other was more than well spoken around campfires and taverns. He only drew that when he needed to get serious.

Nova gave a polite nod when he mentioned his name. It wasn't in his nature to trust people out of the blue. Especially people who managed to appear here, right after all of this turmoil.

"Staring at what you cannot have is quite common amongst people don't you say?" Nova said."And I do mean your infused weapons. But perhaps she simply wishes to gaze upon it. " His gaze never left.

Alec studied her for a moment before standing and walking up to her. He remembered that she had said that she wanted a break, but something was still eating at him. It wasn't made better by her words just then.

"I'm sorry. You're right. That was a stupid thing for me to say."

"I don't know what's wrong with me. When I think about you getting hurt...or worse...I just get all crazy. You really scared me earlier when you ran off."

Veran shrugged as he pulled his ice blade from its scabbard. Normally he would not be so inclined to show off his weapons, but this allowed him two benefits. It allowed him to get closer to these two and two, it would allow him to get a closer look at them. That girl did seem a little familiar to him and maybe they would reveal somethings about themselves.

He started walking towards them slowly, holding the blade on top of his open palms to give the illusion that he did not mean them any harm. As long as they did not inquire about his other blade then he would not have any problems. He could feel the mild freezing pulses from the blade on his skin as he continued to step closer.

Trinity rolled her eyes in annoyance and looked away. If I wanted to I could have simply taken a closer look at it by taking it through shadows and pulling it out of my coat. But of course I'm not that rude... she sighed to herself I know it may be out of courtesy, but why spend so much time with this guy, odds are he is going to recognize me from the wanted posters.

As he presented his blade she drew cautiously closer observing the carving, the structure of it.

Kerana's tail stopped jerking about in in agitation and instead it stopped. Her ears turned toward him capturing his words. She turned toward him slowly her green looked toward him, "... and you scared me off by your actions..." she held her arms tightly. "I-I never thought I'd see the day where I had to run away from you for fear of my own safety... I don't know what else to say..." she looked down to the ground. At this point it was lucky that she was talking to him, let alone was willing to stick with Alec. Whether by her choice or their cultural reason he was still her guardian.

Alec listened to Kerana intently. Only, there was something strange about him. His normal meek appearance was gone. He looked her directly in the eyes with his head held high.

A voice came from within that was not his own.

"For someone who says she thinks of her guardian as more than an appointed protector, you were quick to jump to the worst possible conclusion when it came time for him to act."

Shivers went down her spine causing her fur to fluff up as she heard the voice that was no longer Alec's. Kerana turned around it was no longer Alec she was talking to. "It was not just any act! It was stabbing someone in the back! That wasn't self defense! That was blindly listening to the one called Nova! Despite what I thought of the situation..." she rubbed her head remembering how terrible she felt seeing that scene replay in her head. Then Nova practically congratulated him upon that... that ... that wasn't right.

"Look, I'll stick with Alec but I just need time. This isn't something I can easily dismiss. I fear it coming to a point where he would kill someone just on suspicion alone. Which is practically what Nova had coaxed him to do and to be rewarded for that?" the thought irked her so that it really fluffed out her tail and quickly the fur on her tail settled back to its normal state. She felt terrible down to her stomach, saying such things about Alec but she had to speak up about what bothered her so.

"Yes I still see him more than just a guardian, I care for Alec, deeply and I don't want him going down a corrupt path." her eyes started to water she started to rub them. "Those birds didn't have to die... I didn't want to kill... not defend himself or hurt those that were truly threatening me."

The spirit (in Alec's body) smiled kindly at Kerana and placed his hands on her shoulders.

"You need not worry so, young one. His heart remains as pure as always. The birds were a rash decision. He is young, and still learning. The spirits will forgive him with time."

"I understand you plight, Kerana. Yet, you were not present during the event in question. Alec was not entirely to blame for the incident. I was there as well, helping him come to a conclusion. It was not a decision he made without thought, young fox-kin. He questioned her thoroughly, looking for every reason not to suspect the woman. He wanted to believe that Nova was wrong, but her scent was unnatural. Parts of her story did not add up. Our instincts told us she was a threat. At that moment, we felt it was the best course of action."

"Try seeing it from his point of view. The last time he was fooled by a complete stranger, he ignored and then attack you. And, considering our opposition, the odds of an undead woman actually dying of being stabbed by a small knife are almost nil."

"The necromancer is clever, and is doing whatever he can to drive a wedge between us. He will play on our weaknesses, even the ones we interpret as virtues, to attain his goals. Though Alec did not intend to kill the woman, that is what you interpreted. "

"I am not saying you are wrong to feel as you do, but I implore you to not let the Necromancer's manipulations cause you to see Alec differently. Your kind and trusting nature is a virtue, but it can be turned against you as well."
