The spirit (in Alec's body) smiled kindly at Kerana and placed his hands on her shoulders.

"You need not worry so, young one. His heart remains as pure as always. The birds were a rash decision. He is young, and still learning. The spirits will forgive him with time."

"I understand you plight, Kerana. Yet, you were not present during the event in question. Alec was not entirely to blame for the incident. I was there as well, helping him come to a conclusion. It was not a decision he made without thought, young fox-kin. He questioned her thoroughly, looking for every reason not to suspect the woman. He wanted to believe that Nova was wrong, but her scent was unnatural. Parts of her story did not add up. Our instincts told us she was a threat. At that moment, we felt it was the best course of action."

"Try seeing it from his point of view. The last time he was fooled by a complete stranger, he ignored and then attack you. And, considering our opposition, the odds of an undead woman actually dying of being stabbed by a small knife are almost nil."

"The necromancer is clever, and is doing whatever he can to drive a wedge between us. He will play on our weaknesses, even the ones we interpret as virtues, to attain his goals. Though Alec did not intend to kill the woman, that is what you interpreted. "

"I am not saying you are wrong to feel as you do, but I implore you to not let the Necromancer's manipulations cause you to see Alec differently. Your kind and trusting nature is a virtue, but it can be turned against you as well."

Kerana breathed deeply, she felt a little comforted with Zephyr's words and a little relieved when he mentioned that Alec would be forgiven in time. She looked to the ground as he continued to justify Alec's actions. "Please stop. Talking about this right now will not change how I feel about the situation. Neither you nor Alec will be able to resolve this with words. Just as the spirits will forgive him in time, I need time as well."

"Of course. Take all the time you need. He wont be going anywhere." said Zephyr.

"But I sense that there is something else troubling you. Perhaps that child still weighs on your mind?"

Kerana didn't think there was anything else until he mentioned the child. "Don't... just don't... the child is dead now, no thanks to Nova. I-I thought I was getting through... I-I thought the child had some good." Although the child was going to kill her, it wasn't through that child's will to. In fact, the child tried to warn her, despite what the others would say, the child was innocent and was unjustly killed for what it was. "Just stop! I don't- I don't want to talk any more." she bolted off and went to the nearest ruins with enough walls for privacy, it looked like the remnants of a restaurant and she was in the bathroom of that restaurant. She closed the door and leaned on it sliding down to a sitting position and continued to sob.

I know it may be out of courtesy, but why spend so much time with this guy, odds are he is going to recognize me from the wanted posters.

As he presented his blade she drew cautiously closer observing the carving, the structure of it.

He watched how intricately she gazed at the blade. It was like she had smithing experience or had been around someone who had some. "So where are the two of you off to? Someplace specific or just passing through?"

His gaze shifted from the man to the woman. There was something familiar about her..something he couldn't put his finger on. He was sure he had seen her face before somewhere.

A few moments after Kerana had entered the bathroom. There was a rap at the door.

"Kay, it's Alec. The wolf spirit wont tell me what you guys talked about. He said I needed to leave it be. But he did have one more thing that he wanted to tell you before you ran off."

"If you want his message, I'll be right outside."

There was a moment of silence. He piped it again like he was about to ask something.

"Kerana...?"

But he choked. He had never seen her this upset over something he had done before, and he had no idea how to make things right. So he bit his lip and stepped away from the door to leave her in peace. He stayed close, though, just in case.

"Well this place isn't easily accessible. So we were sight seeing. So what brings you to this place? We are after all, pretty high in the mountains" Nova responded." The old Valkyrie village or something else?"

They were sightseeing? Highly unlikely, but whatever..he could go with that. "Me? Hoping to find work. Bee out and about for the last few days without much to do and was hoping to find some excitement and maybe some pay."

He gave the girl another look. Her face was bothering him..he was sure that he had seen her before. "Do I know you from somewhere? You seem very familiar...like I've seen your face around. Are you famous?"

Trinity noticed he kept looking at her, probably starting to recognize her from the wanted posters. "No, I'm afraid we've never met and I'm not famous." she shrugged then suggested, "you must have me confused for someone else, I get that a lot."

"So, if you're looking for excitement, I take it you must be an adventurer, a knight perhaps?" she posed even knowing full well that the type of blade he uses is popular among thieves or a similar trade. She wondered if he would lie about that.

He thought for a second. "I suppose, though not a knight or anything such as noble. I could never contend with being part of that." He gazed at her one final time and it clicked. The posters! She was on the wanted posters. She was a bounty and quite worthwhile if he remembered right.

He tried to wipe the acknowledgement from his facial features, but he figured it was too late. One of them were sure to notice. "I'll take my blade back now if you don't mind please."

The shadows around Kerana seemed to slither in place. from the darkest corner of the bathroom came a hissing whisper that called out to her.

"Poor child. Poor, sweet child. No one seems to understand how you feel at all, do they?" sighed the female voice.

Nova sighed. He had hoped the man would not recognize her but he did. Hopefully he wouldn't make any rash moves. It would be his last. He had his fun for now. It was time to go.

"Yes, give the man his sword back. We should really be on our way. Time is precious and I would prefer not to waste anymore. I've had my fun for now. Let's go"

Veran Krauss took his blade back and he sheathed it as he let them both pass him. As they got a few steps past, he turned. "Hey..." If they turned to look at him, they would see that his entire demeanor had changed. His posture was one of battle hardened stamina and his face held no sense of playfulness or laziness in any part.

"We've gotten along so far and so far we've all been honest for the most part. One last question and then we can part ways...how much is the price on your head worth now?" He had no intention to try and take the bounty, at least not now. These two were immensely powerful, especially the man and even if he did draw his other blade, the outcome was at the very least 50/50.

He mainly just wanted to see if they would continue to be honest. If they shrugged him off or told him anything but what he felt was the truth, then he'd gladly change his mind and go on the offensive. So far, there had been peace but in the blink of an eye, there could be war.

Trinity noticed a light frosty gleam which was hard to confirm from a distance and looked to Nova briefly and thought, its an enchanted with ice She nodded as Nova asked she returned the blade. The man took it back then she followed Nova to continue their journey. Geesh… I thought we'd never part ways…

Trinity sighed to herself his last inquiry confirmed what she was afraid of. He was just another man after her bounty. "I've lost track… to tell the truth and it really doesn't matter anyway because the real reward is death. I've watched people die when they turned me in the last time me. I managed to escape because that's when I dicovered this. She threw some shadow daggers which flew past Trinity and Nova and head toward the thief. She held on to Nova's hand whilehe was distracted by daggers. Then drop through her shadows and emerged a few steps ahead. She hoped she didn't derail from the path too much.

Kerana heard Alec's words but hearing that the wolf spirit had something else he wanted to say made her weep even more so. It was probably along the lines of how Nova is right, or something to try to convince her that the child wasn't innocent.

After a moment of silence. She noticed the shadows slithering. Trinity is that you? she wondered in thought. She kept her head down in her folded arms she didn't want to see anyone. Her ears twitched as the voice filled the room. The voice was a woman but unfamiliar to her. She looked up, it sounded as if she knew exactly what was troubling her, she rubbed her eyes and said, "No, no they don't… and they seem to disregard my feelings as foolishness or naive. It's all Nova's fault… he approves of backstabbing."

The shadows slithered closer to Kerana. Though not in a manner that would seem threatening. It was almost as if they were trying to get in better position to listen.

"Kindness is so rare in this age. To be told that your tenderness is a liability...it is frustrating. I know something what it is to be betrayed by those closest to you. Please, do go on. Let it out, child." the voice consoled.
