"Did you have to attack him? Now he has a reason to strike back if or when he finds us again. Not that it matters much." Nova simply said as they re-emerged. Letting go of her hand he started walking. " We should find a cave entrance somewhere soon. And hopefully the path won't be blocked."

"Did you have to attack him? Now he has a reason to strike back if or when he finds us again.

He re-drew his ice blade and sliced through them as he dove out of the way. There was something off about those daggers. they seemed to go straight through his blade but whether that was a illusion or the actual skill of the blades he could not be sure.

"Alright, now where did those two get off to?" He heard Novas voice a little ways ahead, although it was faint. So they teleported? No way they ran that fast...not even I run that fast. I'll have to catch up and teach that girl some manners!

He broke into a run along the path ahead of him, his hand gripping his ice blade tightly. Somewhere ahead was the mysterious man and the massive bounty girl. He had a few choice words for her and if she tried that crap again, he'd draw his other blade on her and then he'd see if she was still that cocky afterwards.

"Nova, what do you think he was going to do next after asking about my bounty? I know how this usually plays out. As soon as they recognize me from the wanted posters, all bets are off. I've been through this enough times to know the signs, there's no reasoning just distance." After he mentioned cave she looked around for one.

"Nova, what do you think he was going to do next after asking about my bounty? I know how this usually plays out. As soon as they recognize me from the wanted posters, all bets are off."

Veran Krauss ran along the path, wondering just how far ahead they had gotten. Were they running? Did they get far enough ahead to think they lost him? When he heard the voice, it was distant..like the wind had carried it slightly down his way.

I might even be wandering in the wrong direction...hell, this sucks! As he took the corner and continued on, he heard their voices up ahead. Still slightly distant, but definitely more clear than before. It would only be a little bit before he was once more upon that girl and then he could exact a little payback for her arrogance.

Kerana

Kerana felt a little uncertain at first but she felt a little comforted. Finally, someone who was willing to listen and agree with what she has been saying. She rubbed her eyes, and sniffled, "It all started when I let these people in…" she recounted the tail. It felt like she had told this story so many times today. "… and so here I am now. Nova gives a pat on a back on Alec for backstabbing then I get lectured for showing kindness and I just feel awful about what happened to Ash. I still feel Ash did not have to die." She felt worse bringing up Ash once more. "It doesn't make any sense at all"

"This world rarely ever makes sense, child. Companionship can ease the confusion, but it would seem the very people that you have relied upon have only compounded it."

"I know you do not know me, but if it is any consolation I believe that you were in the right. You acted with integrity. You stayed the course when everyone said you were wrong."

The shadows behind Kerana gathered and shaped themselves on the wall. It was a feminine figure with soft, silver eyes.

"Dry your eyes, child. Do not drown in your despair. You showed true courage. You should be proud of yourself. The words of others, even those closest to you, cannot change that."

The shadows bent and warped as they became three dimensional. The figure's arm protruded from the wall. She offered her dark hand to Kerana in friendship.

"I have many names, but you may call me Shade, young fox-kin. By what moniker are you known?"

Nova was caught in another fit of coughs. The blood was much more common now.

"A few more hours....please..." Nova whispered to himself. He knew this feeling. He should already be dead. He made a major miscalculating about his own lifespan. It was shorter then he anticipated. With the current speed his next incarnation might not even make it to 20.

"Nova! Hang in there!" she rubbed his back a little. She hadn't learned how to heal yet, that was usually Kerana's specialty, even though it only a small assistance it was currently beyond what Trinity can do now. She bit her lip his coughing fit was going to give them away if they didn't keep moving. She wasn't sure if he should keep moving. Her eyes caught sight of a cave, she held Nova close as she heard the theif's footsteps draw near. They drop through their shadow, then emerged in a cave. "I'll be back for you, just hang in there, okay?"

She needed to draw the theif, Varun away from Nova and keep him occupied long enough for Nova and her to make some progress in distancing themselves away from him. She emerged at an edge of a clearing with her glaive drawn. "You looking for someone?" she called out to Varun.

Kerana

"It's nice to meet you Shade." She said with a smile shaking her hand, "My name is Kerana." She started to sound like her chipper self again. Her tail wagged quickly.

Shade's hand retracted into the wall. "There now, a smile suits you much better." she said jovially.

"So, Kerana, what will you do now?" she asked with her "head" canted just so.

She emerged at an edge of a clearing with her glaive drawn. "You looking for someone?" she called out to Varun.

He caught sight of her and he smirked. "Yea..actually I was looking for you. You attacked me and now I'm here to return the favor. Maybe I can be persuaded to be nice if you apologize...nicely." He took a step closer to her, realizing there was about 10 feet inbetween them.

"You attacked me without cause and now I'm either going to get a sincere apology from those pretty lips or I'm going to cut it out of you. Either way...I'm not leaving here until I get what I want. So what's it going to be sweetheart...you going to apologize or do I have to get rough with you?" His free hand grasped the hilt of his sheathed blade, feeling the blades urge to be drawn.

Trinity bit her lip, Why is Nova always right? Normally the mention of the bounty the chase was pretty much on. She took a deep breath and swallowed her pride. Perhaps the sooner she gives this guy what he wants the sooner he would leave us be.

She let go of her glaive and let it sink, "Forgive me for jumping to the conclusion that you were simply confirming what the bounty on my head so that you could try your shot at capturing me where so many have failed. If anything my shadow daggers were a deterrent from perusing such a feet in an effort to save your life.

Long story short, details aside, I apologize for my blunder.

Now can we be on each other's way."

Veran sighed. A simple apology wasn't going to cut it...not after that. He thought maybe if she swallowed her pride and apologized maybe it would have, but after he heard it..it just didn't click with him. "Sorry, but it doesn't sound good enough. Right now..I don't care about who wants you or how much you're worth. That's just a bonus. Right now, I'm going to try and beat some manners into your skull...cause I think you need some."

His other sword slowly drew from it's hilt, letting loose a whistle as it did so. She might not have been able to see, but there were glowing runes on both sides of the blade. This was his ace in the hole when it came to fighting and each time he drew it against an opponent, he never lost the fight. He didn't rush her this time, but slowly started to advance upon her.
