Hey everyone!
I'm mainly a violinist, but I also play guitar and piano. And I'm a beast at percussion. I'm in my school's band, orchestra and chorus, and I made all-county for all 3. I usually make all-state orch. on violin.
I overall love music, mostly classical but I love me some rock and techno ;]
Oh, and my name is Kellee :]

Hi!

I'm a violist. I played with both a string and a full orchestra in middle and high school and for a little bit at the beginning of college, but now I just play with one of the university clubs that does pops stuff (mostly medleys from movies and musicals) - the school's main orchestra was too much stress for me. I also compose a very little bit - mostly for the viola.

My favorite composers are Shostakovich and Dvorak, though I also like other Romantic/Modern people as well - Vaughn Williams, Holst, Hovhaness.

I don't know how many people are going to read this but whatever. I'm a brass player (trumpet and trombone)

I don't have much to brag about because I'm a freshman and this is when you start having the oportunity to earn titles, but I am the freshmans 1st chair bone, and I hold a spot in jazz band (fourth bone, not bad considering I started a year ago)

I'm Caitlin. I'm 18 and play bassoon as first chair in my high school's wind ensemble, it's the better of our two bands. It's a lot of fun, but my director can be a bit pushy, which makes the class suck a bit. That's okay though, I don't plan to continue after this year. I also sing second soprano/first alto. It's nice to sing at church, I don't have time to at school. Anyways, that's about it. blaugh heart

Well, I've got an interesting musical background. In fact this is freakishly long, I should just write a novel and shut up. XD

Today, I'm a bassoonist, and I'm majoring in music. Once I transfer to a university (I'm in a community college at the moment.) I will be majoring in music education specifically.

But I've only been playing bassoon for two years now. Before that, well, I played trumpet. Back in sixth grade I was easily influenced, and instead of really thinking through which instrument I should play, I followed my cousin on the trumpet. Because I thought he was so awesome being in the marching band of my high school, and I wanted to be just like him in that aspect. Well I ended up in that marching band, but in late 2004 I really started realizing that trumpet just wasn't the right thing for me...

So then I went through clarinet and alto saxophone. I also thought about french horn and oboe, but I never played either of them (and it's a good thing on the french horn, because I learned to dislike them... playing it wouldn't have helped. It would have been another instrument I'd leave under the bed forever. XD). Clarinet was a bit much for me. It really hurt my mouth really badly for some reason, and I failed majorly at it really... Couldn't even properly play a Bb major scale on it (which is for those who don't know, the scale in Bb keyed instruments that has no flats or sharps.). I didn't really suck that bad, I established a nice little range (just not for playing scales... if that makes any sense at all.), but the mouth hurting thing got to be really badly.

Alto saxophone, I LOVED. But the alto saxophone my family owns is screwed up and the octave key is like, missing. It's also really old and not pretty to look at, at all. XD But I loved the sound and I loved playing it, so I really hope to pick it up as a secondary someday when I get a job and have that kind of money for myself.

Then I found the bassoon. Yay. It was an instrument I was completely ignorant of before 10th grade, but somehow I managed to start getting into it around the same time I got the clarinet... In fact I became as obsessed with the bassoon as somebody who hasn't even touched one could become. I'm pretty sure I scared off every bassoonist that was ever in class with me. but in my senior year, I made a friend, and she let me hold her bassoon. (big deal to me back then. XD) and then I ended up getting my own bassoon because my grandparents are WAY TOO NICE.

Now an instrument that I hyped as much as the bassoon could never deliver what I expected it too, but somehow it did. It's like the only thing in my life that I had ever held high expectations for and they were met. So the bassoon was not another clarinet, I love it and don't suck too badly at it! biggrin

I got lucky with learning it too. I found a bassoon teacher in my city, and she had only one slot left to teach to, and I got it. Yay. It was so awesome for me, a few days before Christmas of 2006 I had my first bassoon lesson...

But oh my, this is so long. I have to wonder if anybody even read this. XD

I also play piano, but for college... Anyways... *shuts self up*

Hello! My name's crea and music makes up much of my life.

I'm a pianist - I play piano and violin, but quit violin early. I have also played the flute when I was in 5th grade. I love the piano! 3nodding
I started the piano when I was around 6 years old, and have been playing it for about 10 years since. I have to admit that I was not the one that started myself in playing. My mother made me start, and at first I hated it! You know, all that practicing and stuff. But all that time playing over and over again made me more connected to the piano, and I eventually found enjoyment in playing it.
I play the piano whenever I am sad, stressed out, etc. To me, it is like a way of expressing supressed emotions when you can't write them out on a sheet of paper.

Envious26 - I read it. :3

Hello, I'm tervasulka and I've played the acoustic guitar since I was seven. (that means... about 14 years?) I've played the piano for a year too, but (keyboard harmony, comping) not classical music. And I wish to play many other intruments... not sure how and when.

When I got my fourth exam done on guitar (I aka D) I took a break from playing the guitar. That year I moved out twice and had a chance to see my old friends play in a guitar concert near me, so I went there and met my old guitar teacher and he arranged me some guitar lessons where i live now... yes i'm hopeless by myself. XD
Now I've my lessons once a week but I also teach guitar for kids which is very new to me! I don't have any experience with teaching and I know they'll suffer a bit from my teaching too... because the role of a teacher means a lot and it shows in their music.

Like Crea Skye, I hated to play guitar at first. :] I wanted to make the most horrible noises out of it in case they were hearing when I practised.

I'm quite lazy to practise my playing, but i wish that'll pass now that I am a teacher. xD ;;

I'm Jennifer, and I'm 16. =)

My main instrument is the piano, started playing at 8, though I am currently suffering from a performance melt-down (following up a poor rendition in my AMEB 8th grade exam).

I started violin when I was 11, and flute when I was 13.

I am in the school orchestra, only by chance, as I was originally only invited to play as a guest pianist. I think my performance with them impressed the conductor enough for me to be officially part of the orchestra as a keyboardist/percussionist, without trials.

I hate it when 'musicians' and the alike, call pieces as 'songs'. It really peeves me, especially if they have claimed they have played the violin for years.

I'm in a dorment band. The only non-Japanese, in a Japanese-based band. We mix around a lot, with drums/vocals/keyboard being my circuit. I absolutely hate playing guitars, though the bass fascinates me. <3

hi, im hobsrocks, but everyone just calls me hobbs! i am 14 years old, and i play for my school orchestra, and also the chamber orchestrta. im first violin for chamber, but my teacher put me in as a 2nd in the school's orchestra, because last year she had all the better players in the 1st section and weaker players in the 2nds, so yea... she needed it to be more balanced. ive been playing since 4th grade, so this is my 5th year playing. smile

I'm Juilian, and I play the violin heart

I started my first year of middle school, and my orchestra teacher saw potential [I guess?] and I started taking private lessons as well. I've been concert master and have sat in almost every seat of first violin, as well as princpal of the second violins. I've done city wide, region wide and state wide competitions, and faired pretty well in them all. I switched violin to piano my first year of college but I'd like to start violin again, but I never seem to have time anymore. UGH life. sweatdrop

Hey everyone.

My name's Marty. I'm a cellist. Have been playing cello for... 12 years now. Most of my life. I'm 19, male, play for fun now, but am also recording a record with an indie artist. I'm also working with a composer who's writing a solo cello piece for me to perform at her Composition Guild.

I grew up taking Suzuki, but progressed past that years ago. I'm currently without a trio or quartet (which makes me very sad) and am not much for orchestras anymore.

The most exciting thing I've ever done musically was to play Mendelssohn's Octet for four violins, two violas and two cellos. That was very exciting for me, quite a thrill. My quartet played with the Amati quartet for our benefit concert... it was amazing! ^__^

Favourite pieces... too many to name.

Composers: Bach, Britten, Brahms, Mendelssohn, Shostakovich, Ravel, Piazzolla, Schubert, Barber, Vivaldi.

Favourite musicians: Turtle Island String Quartet, Yo Yo Ma, Denise Djokic.
