'Kaiba Seto,' was all the answer he gave, unsure if he preferred that this man didn't know who he was. He had look horrified upon first opening the door, but now was completely pleasant and relaxed. He wasn't sure if that was a sign they got this wrong or an obvious confession. Now that he was here he was slightly panicked, how were they supposed to bring any of this nonsense up with this guy? Just ask him if, by the way, had he potentially summoned an evil spirit to torment Jounouchi, and if so could he maybe make it go away please?

- - -

Honda felt uneasy at the silence that followed Hirutani's clear cheery banter. It looks like none of them showed up here with an idea of what to actually say, and while he had the least idea about what was going on he was pretty good at filling a silence, 'Yea, Honda, we were in the neighborhood and thought we'd stop by. We're kinda working on a project and thought you might be just the guy to help us.' He really hoped that wouldn't be the wrong thing to say, but he also didn't want to say too much. I mean he was just here to help. This was in the end Jounouchi's problem, and weirdly, Kaiba's.

((Well if you do try it let me know if it's worth looking into one day perhaps. Will probably wait until I finish my PhD before I watch anything new though. I was current on Supernatural until about February or March I think? But I kind of fell off after I went back to CA. Keep meaning too but it's not always a great background show for me. Might try and force myself to at least finish last season before the next starts (or before it gets to far in) but we'll see. I have a huge project atm on top of diligently trying to stay on top of PhD deadlines going into my final year.

Also, there is a new rp request thread. Probably going going to politely decline as I don't like OCs (I mean random side charater filling a perfunctory role like doctor is fine, but as a main character not really my thing, particularly someone else's OC that I just couldn't possibly see myself developing an emotional attachment to) and probably couldn't handle a second one atm. Doubt it'd be your thing either but just thought I'd point it out.))

Jounouchi stared at Hirutani in disgust, not so much at his obviously deteriorated appearance, but at his faux friendly greeting. The last time he'd seen the guy, he'd been trying to kill him and Yuugi. He was about to completely step out of line and tell the guy off, but was interrupted by Honda.

He looked at his friend in surprise and confusion, not having any idea what this 'project' he was bringing up was. He had honestly just intended to confront Hirutani about the situation immediately, so he hadn't expected a fake story of any sort.

Hirutani rose an eyebrow, disguising what began as a sneer into a look of curiosity, "A project? And what kind of project would you guys possibly need me for?" his gaze darted to meet Jounouchi's, and a moment of complete antagonism passed between the two.

((Sure thing. I am now even more backlogged on shows by the way, as my brother recently bought a hard drive with over 70 anime series on it, many of which I'd always intended to watch, and a lot of which I'd never heard of but sound interesting. He says they're all subbed, and it has Yugioh, so I'm wondering if that will be the same as the DVDs I have or if they'll be better-translated fan subs (the ones I have were subbed from Japanese to English... in China). As for Supernatural, I'm just gonna say, the ending of last season was just... wow. Not sure if you've managed to avoid spoilers this long, but if so, keep at that until you get to finish it. XD There's also been a preview for the upcoming season that looks amazing, but you need to avoid that too because it has major spoilers for the end of last season. But hey, at least you're in your final year!

Ah, yeah, don't think I'm interested either, but thanks for letting me know. I don't mind OCs in RPs as long as it doesn't revolve around them (but I'm even okay with OCs taking prominent roles, not just minor ones), unless the RP just ends up naturally progressing to them becoming a main character, through story progression and approval or all participants. However, I general find that people who start RPs with the direct intention of having it revolve around OC aren't the type of OCs I like to RP with. I was in a giant X-Men RP that allowed OCs, but ended up quitting because everyone was just bringing their OCs in and trying to make it revolve around them. I was the only one actively posting as canon characters, and I was juggling three of them, all ending up catering to the OCs. It wasn't very fun, so I quit, and people were all, "Oh no, now we have no canons!" XD))

Great, now both Jounouchi and Hirutani were looking at him with disgust, he should have just stayed quiet, he always made things worse. Before he could elaborate Kaiba decided to butt in.

- - -

'Honda has gone for pleasantries, as that's not my style I'll get to the point. We have some questions for you, about grudges and shikigami. We hear you have a family history of the sort?' Seto said, tone accusing and eyes narrowed. He understood Honda's approach and maybe it would have been the better one, but it wasn't how he wanted to handle things, he had a feeling it wasn't how Jounouchi wanted to handle things, and really Honda was too out of his element handle things. So let the interrogation begin.

((I have avoided spoilers, I have very much kind of gotten from the awe tone of the last time I looked at the Supernatural fan page that the series was descending more and more into man I do not want to read anything before I watch. Luckily this isn't like Game of Thrones where my wall is constantly filled with spoilers and I hide any 'liked' FB pages from my feed so unless I seek out the page - which I'm not doing - I can avoid spoilers. I've also avoided the upcoming season trailers for that reason. So I will keep avoiding things but I am now suddenly motivated to try and catch up. Although a quick Google I realise I actually stopped off in January at episode 11 which means 12 more to go. Oye, this is why I keep putting it off it's too much. I will get there!

I probably don't mind them having a major role either (say if a story plot involved a type of person who doesn't exist in the series) but yea I don't want them to be the main characters. Major side characters sure, but I also definitely don't want to do a pairing roleplay with an OC as either it'd be me trying to play a romantic type role with a character I have no attachment to whatsoever, or asking someone else to pretend they are invested with my character that they have no investment in. But yea I agree, similarly I don't like most fanfics where the main character is an OC. Frankly, they seem to really kind of be Mary Sue stories allowing the OC player to immerse their identity into the universe. Which fair enough, I've kinda had daydream type things about similar situations in a lot of series. But I don't write them into fics or try to make them roleplays for the express reason that I know nobody who isn't me is going to care about my characters and probably is looking for a roleplay or fanfic because they want 'more' of a character or story they do love than exists. I mean if I'm going to really try to develop a 'good' OC then I think I'm also going to try and develop my own story and universe around it. I mean there are a few exceptions of really well done OCs in things, but I think 95% of the time I'm looking at what is basically the author roleplaying him or herself. Which I will do that with my friends who I know and love (me and my friend Jill wrote a tandem story that was basically about our friends as very extreme depictions of their personalities personified), but obviously with someone I don't know at all or barely know that's just not going to interest me. I basically need to love (or hate, basically I need some investment in it) a character before I want to roleplay as it/want to roleplay with it. Someone's OC where I just get maybe the backstory they send me is not going to do that.))

There was definitely a minor reaction from Hirutani, another 'oh s**t' face. He then hid it again, narrowing his eyes. He thought he was good at masking his reactions, but anyone paying attention could notice the slight nuances. "A shikigami? Like a grim reaper?"

"Don't play dumb." Jounouchi interrupted, "Shikigami, not shinigami." he clenched his fist, glaring at Hirutani, "Your family is descended from a line of Ommyouji."

"...I have no idea what you're talking about." Hirutani shrugged, smiling and shaking his head, "The ******** is an Ommyouji anyway? Honestly Jounouchi, if you wanted to made amends with me so much, you could've come up with a better story than that." he opened one eye, taunting, "You always did belong in a subordinate position after all."

"b*****d!!" Jounouchi shouted, swinging a fist at the other. Hirutani backed away into the house, narrowly avoiding the attack. He smirked, "Still as hot-headed as ever. But this doesn't need to descend into violence."

((Haha, yeah, and the season is kind of on the eh side until maybe the last five episodes, so that sucks. But for that last episode... man, it's really worth it. Glad you've managed to avoid spoilers. I don't know how I would've; even on Pixiv they're cropping up.

For me, I've never had a desire to insert myself into anything, so all of my original characters have been created either to serve a plot purpose, or for an original/semi-original RP (like a Harry Potter or Avatar RP that takes place in a separate time period, so has all new characters), and have always been with people I was already friends with. Then over time, all the original characters would develop and we would become invested in them, then a lot of times they would develop love interests, very rarely an OC with a canon, though that has happened before. It was always natural and flowed for all the participants though, so it worked. So yeah, with those strict regulations, I like OCs, but definitely not in the Mary Sue realm, or creating characters for the express purpose of placing them in a fandom where the world revolves around them and they get paired up with canons immediately.))

Seto wasn't surprised that Jounouchi had lost his temper and taken a swing at Hirutani. He frankly was becoming more and more convinced of this guy's guilt by the minute and wouldn't have minded throwing a few punches himself, though one of them should stay calm. Both he and Honda followed Jounouchi and Hirutani into the house.

'Well we are listening if you have a few non-violent suggestions for us,' he interjected before Jounouchi could take another punch.

((Well I'm not very active on online forums and it hasn't come up on failblog (I tend to avoid the TV/movie related ones because of things like Game of Thrones or movies I don't want to see in cinema but don't want spoiled) so it's pretty easy to avoid things. Yea the season had started off strong I thought but then started winding down a bit for me again so lost enthusiasm. Good to hear it picks back up again though, maybe will try to catch up when I get back from Wales. In Wales atm, don't think I said as it shouldn't interfere with my being online. Got here yesterday and will be here until Thursday, wish I could stay longer though. I def prefer Wales to England, or at least Birmingham.

I wouldn't mind OCs if more of them fell into the original character for original universe/original plot, but yea I do find most of them tend to just fall into the Mary Sue realm, especially if their point is a romantic pairing.))

"Um... not come to my place and start ranting bizarre accusations about random supernatural s**t at me maybe?" Hirutani asked.

((Yeah, I agree it started good, then got WTF, then just got kind of slow-paced, then suddenly s**t got real. Have fun in Wales. ^^ It sounds so nice there when you describe it.

Yeah, same here.))

'Afraid that one isn't an option, any other suggestions?' Seto mocked sarcastically, maybe interrogating would get them nowhere. I guess they did lack proof, maybe they should have taken the time for that essence grab after all. Although that might have gotten someone killed, willingly trying to catch a shikigami.

((Yea it is, although today is pretty grey, though still beautiful))

"Look, I don't know what the ******** you guys want from me." Hirutani walked off into the main part of the home, grabbing a half-empty beer can and taking a swig, "I've just been sitting home minding my own business. I have no idea what you guys are talking about. Jounouchi and I aren't even partners anymore." he gestured dismissively to the other with his free hand.

Seto was a bit uneasy, unsure whether they were being led further into the house or if they were just coincidentally following Hirutani inside. He tried to calm down and stay focused on the task at hand, his men were just a press of a button away if things got out of control.

- - -

'I think not being partners anymore is a bit of an understatement of the bad blood between you two,' Honda interjected, a bit hesitant after his approach last time seemed to miss the desired mark. Still, Jounouchi was keeping silent and Kaiba seemed to have retreated into his own head. It was going to get creepy if they all just kept following him around without saying anything. 'Given your family history of oym-oh my-whatever it was, and your personal history with Jounouchi, you seem like a prime shikigami summoning suspect. Doesn't take a genius to figure out why we came to you first. If you aren't up to anything, then maybe prove it and give us a hand with whatever you might be able to tell us about your family.' Honda really hoped he hadn't said too much, but silence made him uncomfortable, it was time for action.

"Look, I don't have any idea what the hell you guys are talking about!" Hirutani repeated, "I don't even know what all that stuff is." Subtlety, he pressed his index finder against the sharp edge of the drinking hole in the beer can, drawing just a little bit of blood. He placed the can down, making sure the others didn't notice the cut.

"Are you guys insane? Is that what all this is about? You're coming in here, telling me to believe in some supernatural nonsense, and then on top of that, saying it's all my fault? That's ******** retarded." he stomped further into he house, acting like he was cleaning up some things off of the sofa. He simply moved the trash to a nearby table, on which was placed a large, empty basin. He brushed his bloodied finger against the inside surface of the bowl.

This was the basin he had used to give his blood tribute to the shikigami. Adding another drop of his blood to it should be enough to get the thing's attention and bring it here.

'Oh, I'm being summoned, not officially, clearly I'm wanted.' Observing was proving less interesting than hoped, guess it was time to take a stab at being useful.

The shikigami materialized in the corner of the room, now in plain sight of its master but not visible to the other three who were only barely in the room.

Hirutani glanced at the shikigami, gesturing his head towards the others just slightly, telling it to do something.

This idiot has no idea what he was doing or really any great idea of what he summoned. 'Just do something mortal? Are you not capable of what I can do, of what you should ask?' If killing the Ommyouji wasn't forbidden...well, this contract would end one day. Besides, everyone had to pay a price, blood is merely the down payment.

The trio were warded, not surprising as they'd been spending so much time in that stupid shrine. He couldn't possess or physically touch them, he couldn't even close the gap too much. Guess he'd just have to use the house then, not like this s**t hole would be a great loss right?

- - -

Seto was beyond uneasy now, they'd clearly been led and he was certain he'd notice Hirutani making slight motions, using some sort of spell? Futata said he couldn't use anything offensive, other than to summon the shikigami of course. Seto quickly decided it was time to push the panic button, tell his men to start stealthily making their way inside. Moments after hitting send the room started to shake a bit. Earth quakes happen, but somehow this all felt a bit too localized. A crack came from above them and Seto shoved Jounouchi and himself out of the way as shelving and cheap china came crashing down around them. His reflexes were too slow and a cracked plate managed to slice through his upper arm as the pair fell to their knees. Honda completely lost his balance and fell into a table. Of course, he probably wouldn't have fallen if one of the dining chairs hadn't assaulted the man in the first place. They were being attacked by furniture. Where the hell were his guards?

- - -

'Boss wants us to come in?'

'Umm, where? The address he's given us too is an abandoned lot, could we be in the wrong place?'

'I'll, I'll call...or text, maybe a call would give him away, s**t, how could we be at the wrong place, no way Kaiba-san would have given us the wrong directions, we must have done something wrong, s**t.'
PostPosted: Thu Sep 04, 2014 2:28 pm
"s**t!" Jounouchi cursed as he was pushed out of the way, quickly scrambling to his feet before seeing that Honda had hit a table and Kaiba was bleeding.

Hirutani was standing a ways from the lot, his arms crossed and a smug smirk on his face, "Wow, you guys are pretty clumsy. Might want to get that cut looked at." he addressed Kaiba, then turned his attention to the blond, "You know, Jounouchi, every time you show up to me with new friends, I'm surprised." his face darkened, "How they all seem willing to endanger themselves for your sake. How much they give a damn about someone as worthless as you. You're really playing them good."

Jounouchi grit his teeth, knife and taser now forgotten as he flew at Hirutani, automatically preparing for a fist fight, "Call the ghost off!" he demanded as he swung.

Hirutani dodge, getting ready to retaliate as he pulled out... a gun. He had a gun. How had he gotten a gun? He pointed it right at Jounouchi's head, and the other froze.

"Yeah, that's right." his grin widened, "You stay right there, or I'll blast your ******** brains out."

Seto starred down in a horror a bit realising his guards not only had somehow ended up at the wrong address, they were nowhere near them. The message in his outbox definitely had the correct address, so the only thing this could really come down to was spiritual interference. He supposed it would be pointless to try and send them the correct address. Of course that worry was immediately pushed aside by Jounouchi halted with a gun pointed at his head. s**t!

The room was still shaking, but the spirit seemed to be almost lazy about it. The thing clearly was some sort of sick voyeur, seeing what Hirutani might do on his own was probably more interesting than creating it's own hijinks for the time being. Well, Seto had no interest in Hirutani's hijinks, nor did he want to see Jounouchi's brains splattered across the floor. If he was a gambling man he would guess that Hirutani hadn't summoned this demon after Jounouchi - and they clearly now knew he had - if he wanted to just end it quick with a bullet. Still, as long as that psychopath was armed he wasn't in control, and it was not a Kaiba trait to be comfortable out of control.

Taking advantage of the fact that Hirutani was too busy grinning at and mocking Jounouchi, Seto stealthily pulled out one of his throwing knives and moved into position. Before Jounouchi could answer, Honda could stand or Hirutani could quip further Seto deftly tossed the blade, disarming the deranged man - and taking a bit of skin along for the ride as well.

Before Hirutani could bend Seto pulled out his own gun, and not one of the tasers, aiming it between Hirutani's eyes he said, 'stay right there or I'll blast your ******** brains out. I have no qualms about playing games and enjoying your death, so unlike you I've no reason to delay pulling the trigger. You have 5 seconds to get your spirit to back down if you still want to discuss some of these non-violent options.'

Seto's hand was steady. For all outward appearances he looked calm, but inside he was livid. If he had any reason to believe that killing Hirutani would free them from the shikigami he'd have already pulled the trigger. The ease with which he could accept murder unnerved him, even if the guy probably deserved it. Maybe Mokuba wasn't just playfully nettling every time he suggested therapy. Now wasn't the time for self reflection though, now was the time to focus on scaring the hell out of the man in front of him as right now that was where their best odds of survival were. For the moment, he was glad he wasn't as soft as Jounouchi, that he'd brought the gun. Jounouchi was the good man, he was not, and Hirutani had better figure that out quick or Seto really would take his chances with an unchained spirit.
