The wind forged wolf walked alongside Veran. Keeping an close eye on him.

Meanwhile the ancient man glanced at the foxgirl. He knew he sensed and had observed her use of telekinesis. If she knew that then perhaps she was ready to learn the basics of Light. All of the previous arguments would have been rendered obsolete had she mentioned it earlier.

"You never told me you could use a bit of Telekinesis?"

"Interesting, well, it looks like you're on the right path." She notices the silence with Kerana and Nova. "Is it just me? Or do those two seem to be more alike than they realize? At least I get the sense that when Nova was her age, he was very much like her, ambitious."

Alec thought about it for a moment. Once he was sure that Kerana was engaged in conversation he answered Trinity.

"I don't think ambition is the right way to describe what drives her. It's more of a necessity. We're brought up to adhere to a specific code. She should be treating me like a servant, but she refuses to do so. She has decided, on her own, that the relationship between the fox-kin and their guardians needs to change."

"I mean yeah, she wants to improve, but it isn't for any sort of personal gain. She wants to make life better for both our people."

"You never told me you could use a bit of Telekinesis?"

Kerana's blood boiled at the sound of his voice. Her tail wagged in agitation. At the risk of sounding like a smart alec she responded, "Well, you didn't ask. Besides the all-knowing-ancient has labeled me as foolish, naive and my head was just a decoration."
"That hurt. Don't tell Alec, but I was considering returning home with my tail between my legs in shame. Give up on magic and return to Merlo's Tavern & Bar as a full time waitress. Let whatever potential Alec and I had left fade and be waisted." Her eyes lowered it was obvious it was hard for her to admit it to the man she was walking next to.

She sighed and went on, "Regardless, yes that was telekinesis. I figured it out recently. I have not used it extensively because it takes a lot of concentration leaves me with a terrible head ache."

[OOC: Yes this was an old bar and grill RP I used to attend. I wouldn't mind using it as one of the places to go, I could imagine it having a few branches. If I remember correctly this was probably the first place I started using Kerana.]

"Those words were directed at how you behaved during critical situations. You got plenty of good aspects Kerana. Cherishing life is a great thing to do. It's why I am doing all of this despite my own condition. If the Necromancer succeeds...there will be no life left. Not the way it is intended to be." Nova explained.

"Then let's make sure you no longer get a headache. Mastering Telekinesis or Illusion is the next step to mastering Light. That is why I was deadset against it Kerana. But since you'v shown you can use that.....I will teach you to use it properly....and then we will move on to Light shall we?"

Kerana braced herself for more of Nova's yelling, lecturing and scolding. Yet, it didn't seem to be the case this time. No life left? What does the Necromancer gain from that? she wondered.

Then Nova said something, she couldn't believe her ears. Her fox ears twitched, she looked to Nova, "R-really?" It was obvious he was sincere. Her tail was dancing like crazy. Such a reaction usually happens when she's mad or this excited.

Nova smiled and pat her head a little.

"I bend the truth, I leave out information when I feel it's necessary but I never lie. When I said I wasn't going to it was for your own protection you have to realize that. I have seen what it does to people who were not ready. It would have destroyed you and Alec would have never been able to recover from that."

"I see, I guess there's a lot more at stake than just some extra college credits huh?" Trinity would admit that she thought the reason that they went with her was to fulfill a requirement. At the time she was happy to oblige, and to have some company, regardless of all that happened Kerana and Alec were the first people in a long time to hear her out. But this requirement appeared to be much more than a class requirement.

Alec's ear twitched as he heard Kerana exclaim her joy. He grinned softly as he thought about what Trinity had said. They had originally gone to gain their extra credit, but at some point their purpose changed.

"No kidding. I mean, I knew you were going to be trouble...er, that is to say that you're a wanted person. I never thought you were involved in something so...cataclysmic. It's hard to wrap my head around even after everything we've experienced these last few days."

Kerana flattened her ears as he explained why he bend the truth. Alec… I wasn't thinking about him… She looked back at him, I'm not sure if he could recover from such a thing. If he were to return home, he either would be reassigned… or sadly the more likely, because he may be perceived as weak…sentenced to death… She looked to Nova, "I see what you mean…thanks. So what is the next step? I guess it's learning to get a better handle on the telekinesis huh?… and I suppose I could…" she rubbed her head and said softly, "use some help in… using my magic a little more efficiently? "

"It's what I promised to do in the beginning. I am your teacher despite the conflicts." Nova replied. He reached out inside his robe and pulled out a book that had a burned hinge on it. The one she tried to burn. " Now don't be so stubborn this time and properly study what's inside." He handed over the book."The better your control over the foundation the better you control at the higher tier. It is the same method I am using on Trinity. Though she isn't at your level yet. " Nova replied with a wink.

Trinity observed Kerana's exclamation of joy. She smiled to herself and thought Well that is a good sign. She nodded to Alec agreeing. "I know. For the longest time I had no idea what that prophecy meant or how it would become a reality. Even the Paladins that found me, they could only tell me that the prophecy was about me but nothing more…. I'm glad I ran into you guys and Nova."

"At times this whole thing can be so overwhelming. Especially now, since every time I use a little holy, y'know what happens." She was cautious among present company to give too much info among present company.

The journey took a few days on foot but they made it. Nova had not coughed once during that time. He said he had found a way to suppress it for a while but it left him weaker as it took a lot of Mana to maintain this method. He continued to teach the kids and Trinity. Trinity would be taught various elements. Mostly the basics and he explicitly told her to train whenever she could.

With Alex he would speak of ways to reinforce his control over Wind all while giving praise where he felt was necessary. The boy was changed for the better in his eyes after the encounter with Veran. He also gave the boy some knowledge on Nature magic in order for him to allow his clothes to change with him when he shifts into his wolf form. During small talk at night or during breaks he would some times ask the boy about Alchemy. That way he could tell him what he knew. Alchemy was not Nova's forte. So in a way he could teach the teacher.

Kerana's approach was a little different. Yes he made sure to keep her using Fire so she would become more efficient with it. More efficiency with one element the less Mana it required which would allow her to use more. It increased the quality of her Mana. It was also to have her body get used to the higher quality of Mana. During the last day he taught her a bit about Telekinesis.

During their travels the temperature increase. It was only natural seeing as they were traveling on an active volcano that spewed lava from many small crevices nonstop. It was especially hot in the last tunnel they traveled through..

"There are a few things you should be ware of with these people. First of, fighting is very common and is used for a lot of things. Including marriage. I know that from experience. A straightforward fistfight is clean. No lies, no falsehoods. There is a winner and a loser. That is all there is to it. If there is an heated argument, you can fight it out if you want. There are no grudges afterwards. And you cannot bring up that subject again since it has been settled. Magic is allowed but they can't use it. They also have a very high tolerance to magic. So what may deadly to a human could only bruise them. If you are lucky. It's their culture. It's one of the reasons why outsiders are usually not allowed to stay there. Cultural difference is too great to understand. I just hope you don't have to go through the Rite of Passage. I already have so I can freely entire but you might not. In that case one of you will be selected to represent the group and fight the one of the guards." Nova explained as he used cooling winds to make things a bit more bearable for all.

"If you lose....well you are not granted entrance. Unless another of your group wants to fight. But then that person would have to fight two people. If that person loses it will be 3 people after that. So try not to lose."

As the temperature heated up Trinity decided to travel in just her tunic and her boots. She felt a little relieved that Nova was not coughing but she wondered if he was naturally feeling better or if magic was involved.

Sadly she thought the later was more likely. If that was the case what is the cost of extending his life so long with magic. She really wished Kerana, Alec or herself could take care of him instead of having him using all his mana on keeping himself alive.

"So you're saying that all because we're with one who passed the Rite of Passage, we still may take it ourselves."
PostPosted: Mon Mar 02, 2015 3:02 pm
"Correct. I passed it when I first came here. I was alone so I had to. Had you all been with me at that time you would also have been granted access. I am not sure if you have to fight. But I hope not. They chose the initial person to fight. You can see my concern about that can't you?"

As the days went by Kerana started using her summer uniform. She took Nova's book a little more seriously. Knowing that Nova is a little more aware of what she was capable of she was a bit more co-operative.

Even though it still frustrated her that she kind of had to start over with the basics, she started to understand the differences between his way of casting the spells verses the university. Though it took them years to figure out how their once star pupil was able to excel so quickly in spell casting and having all records of his presence destroyed, the teachings were similar that the adjustments Kerana had to make were minor. The minor changes made all the difference in the amount of mana she was using at once. She was able to cast more spells at once instead of having to stop after a few.

As Nova explained the culture of the dragon race her ears lowered as Nova pointed out that the dragon race would pic who would be the initial fighter. She felt the rest of the group's eyes upon her. Feeling nervous she hid behind Alec and bit her lip cat_sweatdrop I really hope they don't pick me...
