Heh heh, i've created a brand new euphenism for that title! xd I haven't studied Lord of the Flies in depth, but I know a lot about it as well.
Right now at Uni I'm studying all of the greatest modern works of literature, some of which of course none of you would have heard of. Neither did I until i read them, except 1984.

What are you studying, 'elf? If I haven't heard of them, well, I can go look them up. ^^;;

Yeh, the horse ('Boxer') was taken to the knacker's. Where they get turned into glue. And then the pigs used the money to buy alcohol. n__n;;

Be tough, but you might make it. Just work EXTREMELY hard. And you've gotta be sort of lucky too. Many guys at my school who got straight A*s at GCSE and 4 As at AS level still got rejected.

@sin: Good old glue factories, where else would we get our beer money? 4laugh -oink, oink-

Thing is.. even now, in like Yr 11, there's sort of this pressure on some of us in our year to get into Oxbridge.. because every year in our school there are a few people who go and like everyone knows exactly who got in and stuff.. so it's like.. "Come on -insertnamehere-, you're so gonna get into Oxbridge" rolleyes

I do think luck has to do with it as well - my mum knows someone whose son got 4 As and full marks in one of them and didn't even get an interview. sweatdrop

We had an interesting conversation in english today, because we're studying Animal Farm by George Orwell. The book was boring. I didn't know it was about the Russian Revolution. ....... cool

o_O
so Animal Farm = Russian Revolution question
How are they linked together question There is nothing in common about animal farms and the Russian Revolution...
Maybe its because i havent learnt it yet ninja

Animal Fun is a classic. Everyone must study it by Year 11. It is decreed in all the law of all English Intelligenstia I think. If not, you have to study 1984 instead. Everyone knows about 1984, don't they? If you young'uns don't, think Big Brother. pirate
Yeah, my english teacher was telling us about that, and it was written in the 1940s. I'd actually be interested after what he said, 'Big Brother' and all the other things. In Yr 12 it's on the booklist. 3nodding

The top uni in Australia- Melbourne biggrin mrgreen .
Yes, I boast I'm now in the most elite unis in Australia, even though I'm doing a crappy course. xd

Are you going to study 1984 next year? If so, you should use it for your final essay. I think it's the best text in Year 12 by far.

I actually enjoyed LotF in highschool, but the black & white movie was disturbing, same with the Too Kill a Mockingbird movie... Boo Radley! 3nodding xd domokun

I didn't think To Kill a Mockingbird was that disturbing when I studied it in Year 9. The Gregory Peck film version of it was too fuzzy and blurred to make out much of the visuals.
