Hi Everyone:

I live in Greensboro, NC. I moved here in 2000 to live nearer to my twin sister. I also came to finish my undergraduate degree and now have my masters. I work at NC A&T State University (my alma mater). I am a teacher and have many other duties (I have to stop saying what I can do).

I'm over 40 and single. In my spare time, I love to watch tv (it keeps me company, besides my 3 cats), read, walk, make clay stuff, play Literati on Yahoo, and shop.

I just spent a week in upstate NY with my best friend for Christmas, and, while I had a great time, I have a lousy sore throat. I was cold the whole time (she laughed at me b/c I'm now a whimp). I am so happy to be home in our beautiful state with its temperate weather.

I hope to meet some wonderful friends here.

Hi, Cat! Glad you're here with us! Hope you get to feeling better!

You "make clay stuff"? What type of clay? What do you make? I do wheel thrown pottery and a little handbuilding, working mostly with stoneware (light and dark), with dipped glazing. I've got my own wheel and kiln and a very tolerant hubby who doesn't mind me messing up the basement. biggrin

I love working with clay but only do it in the culture center. I learned how to throw and did some great stuff, but I found that it uses a lot of energy that I just don't have some days. So, I hand build. I like making trays, plates, and big fun bowls. Raku was fun. What I really love doing is working with greenware. I need to get back to that.

Do you mean where the item is in greenware stage and you clean it, it gets fired, and then you paint it. I used to do that and loved it. My first 3 pieces won prizes and 1 won best in show. But since moving to the south, I haven't work with clay like I used to. I miss it.

I used to do it too but I haven't in quite a while.
I made a large rectangular tray for my friends' anniversary years ago that took a lot of work--it was a big ol' chinese dragon & the whole tray was very colorful. I kinda miss doing that--I still have an unused idea for a teapot in my head. The place where I used to paint in Burlington went out of business though. They had "Blue Plate Specials" where you could paint at a reduced price in the late morning.
Check out my Home in Towns sometime. I have it made into a PYOP shop! xd

Your house is fantastic!!! What a smart and creative idea.

P.S. We were born 1 year and 5 days apart.

Cool! biggrin
I like to make Labor Day jokes, myself...and since early September is the height of Hurricane Season, I also like to say Mother Nature sends me a hurricane for my birthday. She's been lax on that lately. sad
I'm also one year older than Doctor Who. xd

Hello! =D

I've been a North Carolinian all my life, and have generally lived in the Raleigh/Durham area.
I'm almost 17 (this Thursday!) and a high school junior. I hope to do something involving computers or engineering in college.
I'm a big band nerd (I play French Horn-note the username xD) and have marched for two years. It's so much fun <3
As far as books and TV and such go, I rather enjoy Fantasy/SciFi stuff.
Um, Eirwyn brought me here from the Doctor Who guild.
So, nice to meet you all!

You know Sepik by any chance? She's out your way & she's a band nerd too. She also in DWG although I haven't seen her post in ages.

Hey, Eirwyn! What's up?

Yeah, I do know her, actually. =D
(She got me hooked on Doctor Who...)

I just got back from the mountains--I spent Spring Break out there visiting my parents.

Sepik has been really quiet for a long time. Has she left Gaia?
