*emerges from long winter nap* Not only did GS confirm the preorder bonuses of the statues with HG/SS preorders, I have other news! At least, I just found out today, and I work there.
You can get the Pikachu-colored Pichu in GameStop/EB Games/etc from Jan 30th to February 14th during the download event. And once you have it, when you trade it to HG/SS, you get the event that lets you unlock the Spiky-eared Pichu.
And after this event is over, we will be doing Jirachi downloads. I didn't have a poster I could pilfer for that one yet, so I don't recall the exact dates.
Getting back to the figures though: I know there is the Lugia with soul Silver, and Ho Oh with Heart Gold, but I believe in Japan if you preordered both you got the Arceus as well. Unfortunately, I haven't heard anything about that happening here, and we gave away Arceus figures during the holiday season as a promo with Platinum, so that may have been that.
Also worth noting, in case it hadn't come up (I was too lazy to read back more than a couple pages), these games will be retailing at US$39.99 instead of the usual US$34.99 because of the PokeWalkers being included.

We already know about the POB figures being confirmed. I announced here in the thread, like, a week and a half ago. You get Lugia with SS and Ho-Oh with HG, but it seems NA will not have "Get Arceus when you pre-order both." The Arceus POB was, however, given away to those who bought Platinum on Black Friday.


Speaking of news, Pokemon.co.jp announced a new RPG game today. The article is here, if you can read moonspeak. Apparently, the article is pretty vague and doesn't go too much into detail on anything (all it really said was that this new game would be in the same vein as RBY). However, there was this nice tidbit:

"The new game 4 years after Diamond and Pearl, plans to have new ways to play, new Pokemon, and will be reborn in an innovative way."

And with rumors of Nintendo being ready to announce/unveil the DS's true successor (and not some dumbass incarnation, looking at you DSi/DSi XL) by the end of this year, and the fact that GameFreak is hiring 3D artists, that sure sounds like some good old fashion 5th gen hinting, guys.

I mean, it sure is nice and all to see how they can mix things up with "guy randomly barging in on evil team plans and foils them by sheer idiocy", but it does get old after a while. And they've made a lot of games with that plot already ._.

I was wondering if they'd be creating a 5th Gen. Looks like it. I wonder what they'll be able to pull together this time, new Pokemon-wise. And now, this is gonna be on my mind until I get SoulSilver. Maybe even afterward.

Agreed on the plot getting old. I kinda do wish they'd throw some other... something in there, though I can't quite place my finger on what I'd rather have than these random Teams. I'm sure there'd be a bunch of things I'd rather have that's just not surfacing right now, though...
