More Meteor Showers Bring Even Stranger Powers. (O/A)

"Nooooooooo!" Lia screamed as she held onto the door as Jeze pulled her off.

"I'm not going to sit around and do nothing!" Jeze grunted as she did her best to pull her youngest sister away froom the door so she could leave.

"But Shane said to wait here. It's not safe out there." She kicked at her sister.

"Do you two ever stop?" Kali sighed softly as she looked up and tilted her head to the side.

"No." They both cried to Kali, who only shrugged in response.

The safehouse is one made especially for young metas. Shane had come across many before his incarceration, and was glad when this one was still standing. He had a feeling that things were going to get very dangerous very quickly, and opted to leave the girls someplace they would be safe. At least, he hoped that would be the case.

As the two siblings bicker, there is a slight trembling that increases and seems to come closer. From around the corner, inside the building, approaches a very large metahuman. Standing nearly eight feel tall, and very muscular, he lumbers his way toward the girls. He halts a few feet from them and mutters a single deep and booming word.

"Loud."

There is a shuffle from behind him, and a young female meta steps around. Her skin is covered in scales, a tail to match swishing across the ground. She sweeps her dark hair from in front of her eyes and flicks her tongue out. Despite her appearance her voice comes out completely normal. "What my brother means to say is, "Please keep it down." You never know who might be around"

Both Jeze and Lia stopped. Jeze let go of her sister and turned to the two newcommers. She frowned somewhat, unsure of what to say to either of them.

"Whoa!" Lia's eyes were huge as she looked over girl. She blushed softly as she continued to stand by the door.

Kali paused as she turned and looked to the large Meta. She tilted her head once again. Questioning in her eyes.

"Who are you?" Jeze asked? Her voice only slightly demanding.

The girl puts her hands up to her reptilian face, in a manner that would suggest she is embarrassed. "I'm so sorry, how rude of me. I'm Heather, and this big mono-declarative guy is my brother Lawrence. But everyone around here just calls us Liz and Big Larry. We're very pleased to meet you." She bows politely to the sisters, her hair once again falling into her face as she does so. She huffs and sweeps it back again. "It is such a pain not having ears."

Larry takes a step forward and offers his massive hand to the sisters. It is large enough to grasp any of the girls all the way around. "Hello."

Jeze cringes somewhat at the mention of not having ears.

Kali steps towards Larry and takes his hand. Her dim eyes showing faintly showing her intrest. "Hello." Her voice was voice in it's strange way.

Lia smiled. "I'm Liadan, And these are my older sisters Kali, and Jezebel. Shane told us to stay here for until because it's to dangerous out there with him and Annie."

Liz's tongue flicks again at the mention of Shane. "I see, you must be friends of his. He stopped by hear a long time ago, seeking refuge as many of us do from Daedalus."

"Hurt."

"Yes, he was hurt very badly when he came here. He stayed for almost a month. Of course he healed long before that, but I think he was just lonely and enjoyed some company that wouldn't try to shoot him."

Larry slowly looks at each one of the girls before saying, "Stay?"

Once more Liz's tongue licks the air before she speaks. "Oh right. It looked like you were about to leave. If Shane left you guys with us, then it must be really important. You don't have to worry here. Daedalus thinks this is a halfway home for runaway teenagers and early twenty somethings. Meta's like myself and Lawrence are kept out of site if the happen by, which thankfully isn't often."

"Do you plan on staying?"

Larry looks over at Kali and smiles awkwardly. Being that his mind became smaller and simple, he has no concept of tact or inhibition.

"Pretty."

Liz tenses up and elbows her massive brother in the thigh. Very slowly he rubs the affected area and mutters, "Ow."

Kali blinked at the pair and a smile pulled at the sides of her lips. "Thank you."

Lia shot a glance at Jeze. "Yes, we're staying. Shane told us to, and that's the plan." She smiled towards Liz.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know what the plan is." Jeze sighed as she crossed her arms over her chest

"So... How many of you are here?"

Liz thinks for a moment before answering. "Twenty two including my brother and I. We actually do have a few normal humans here with us too. Runaways and the like. Everyone else is metahuman. Then there is Celes. She is the person who takes care of us. She works the big hospital in Knoxburg during the day. Then she brings us food and medicine when she gets off. She should be here in a few minutes. In the meantime I'll show you around the place."

She hops up and scampers onto her brother's shoulder. He makes a slow waving motion and turns toward the hallway he came from.

"Follow." He begins to lumber down the hall at a steady pace.

As they travel through the safe house, the many denizens look up and wave at the sisters. Some are eating, others playing board or card games. There are also those who are tinkering with and honing their metahuman powers. There are a few noticeable metahumans, the ones Liz had mentioned. They give a nod to the lizard girl and her mammoth brother as they pass by.

A strange smile crosses Liz's face. "Lawrence and I have been here longer than anyone. It's hard to go outside when you look like we do. It isn't like that Valhalla place we've heard so much about, but it's home."

Larry eventually stops in the center courtyard. Located there are a few benches surrounding a great tree.

Liz hops down and walks up to the tree. "Celes told us a story when we were young that this tree is actually an eco meta that grew tired of all the sadness and hate that comes with being a person. She she turned herself into this tree, in hopes that the air she gives will ease the hearts and minds of those around her."

"We don't know if that story is true or not, but we call this tree Matron."

She turns back to the sisters and holds her arms out. "What do you guys think? I promise your stay here wont be too bad."

The three followed without words and listened to Liz and she spoke. Jeze scoffed softly at the mention of Valhalla. "Turst me. That place isn't all it's cracked up to be. We're the one who helped Shane escape. Although it won't be long before that thing comes after him."

"She's not a thing. She's a robot and his sister!" Lia frowned deeply as she pushed Jeze softly. "I think it's awesome!" Lia smiled brightly.

"Thank you, sir," Annie said, her response automatic to Shane holding the door for her. Sitting down she ordered catfish, disappointed slightly that fried green tomatoes weren't on the menu (but then again that had been a long shot).

Annie sipped her glass of water and glanced over at Shane when he asked her his question. It was something she had initially wondered herself, but upon thinking about it she had come up with her reasons. "For several reasons," Annie replied her voice low. "One, you had to feed soon considering the damage that you took. If it wasn't him, you were probably going to sneak out that night and find someone else. At least who was chosen was old and had a contrary aura- good to most people bad to metahumans. I hate people like that."

"And secondly, I don't want secrets between us," Annie said. "I have to accept you as you are: good and bad. And, I have to come to terms with my guilt in this whole thing..."

She sighed, when the waitress came with their food. Smiling, Annie thanked the waitress and returned to her conversation with Shane, her voice still low, "Maybe, my thinking was warped by my time away, but those are my reasons why I didn't stop you last night."

Liz gives the girls a puzzled look. "I don't understand. Are you saying that he was captured for some time." She shakes her head and gives a dismissive wave. "Actually, never mind. If he is free that is all that's important."

Larry points his finger in a sweeping motion towards the sisters and asks, "Powers?"

Shane picks at his food for a moment and puts a little of what's on his fork into his mouth. He chews for a moment, considering what Annie has just said, before swallowing. He feels some guilt for practically killing a man in cold blood in front of Annie and the girls. More so he feels guilt for shattering the perception she once had of him.

He takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly. "Y'know, Annie...I never stopped thi--oh no."

Shane's eyes widen with shock at the image he was barely able to make out on the television screen from the corner of his eye. The camera crew had attempted to get closer to the scene of the crime. Before being shoved out by the police, Shane caught a glimpse of a head of violet hair with pointed ears.

He whispers quietly, "She's there...Trinity is at the scene. How could she have possibly caught on to my trail so quickly?"

"Trinity's smart from what I can tell," Annie said. "If I was her the first mysterious disappearance I heard about I would investigate immediately."

She lowered her voice, "You weren't exactly careful last night. We need to get rid of his credit cards and fast. I can contact my father and have him wire over some of my savings to me if need be. It isn't a lot but it is around two thousand. That is enough for food and gas."

Annie quickly in about four gulps ate her catfish, swallowing her last bite whole she said, "We should get going soon."

Shane tightens his fist. Annie is right. He had thought that since it was in a secluded part of the state, where travelers come through a lot, that one disappearance would go unnoticed except by local police. He didn't think there would be news coverage.

Thankfully he had the foresight to go to an ATM before dropping off the girls at the safe house. It isn't much, but it would be enough for this one meal at the very least. He drops some money on the counter, with tip, and wipes his mouth with a napkin.

Suddenly Shane halts. Something in the back of his mind is telling him that they are in imminent danger. He whispers to Annie, "I don't know about you, but it feels like someone is watching us."

Annie raised her eyebrow, she hadn't noticed it, but then now she could feel it. Eyes following them. Not just the waitress and some of the patron's no doubt suspicious about whispered conversations, but it felt like it could be someone else- someone that might pose a threat.

Annie picked up the unfinished glass of water on the table and took a sip as she evaluated the amount of moisture in the air and the liquid available in the room, glasses of soda and water on tables, someone's gravy to their left.

"Let's just go," Annie whispered back, pushing her hair behind her ear. "There is liquid everywhere here, it would be stupid to attack us: especially considering who we are."

Liz gives the girls a puzzled look. "I don't understand. Are you saying that he was captured for some time." She shakes her head and gives a dismissive wave. "Actually, never mind. If he is free that is all that's important."

Larry points his finger in a sweeping motion towards the sisters and asks, "Powers?"

"Jezebel has probabilty and memory maniupaltion. She can also track any Meta she wants to. Kali has really quick reflexs.. even thought she doesn't look like it, and she can crawl on walls!" Lia giggled. "And Well.. I... I can enhance or weaken the powers of others and have this weird sense when people are watching.. using... other demonisions.... OH! And I can tell when if anyone in the area is hurt or sick!"
