More Meteor Showers Bring Even Stranger Powers. (O/A)

Theonis also picked up the radio but wasn't really prepared to be dropped in the shadows.

"s**t already?" Theonis cursed.

"Take out the memory and sapping chick comes first if they are all together. Can't have our own powers or memories messed up during the fight. I can rip off pieces from the walls or grounds to block the sun to increase your choice of shadows should you need it. Annie can liquefy right? I can splatter her, don't think it will kill her. Haven't tried that yet but should be do able." Theonis began to ramble on a bit.

"How heavy is Shane? If he absorbs people does it increase his own weight and density? If not I can launch him in the air and hold him there, if he is....well...let's hope I can still do that. I'll think of something." He said as he looked at his little butter knife.

"Well... I suppose if he consumed someone big and he were to shift into them... but if you talk about with every additional victim I don't think so. In his normal form he's your height... probably a couple of inches taller with a slim build. You may not have any trouble lifting him... or Annie for that matter.

I guess I could shift their shadows into sticky tar-like substance... I'm not sure how well it would work on Annie though. She could shift into any kind of liquid as well as manipulate body fluids. She is capable of killing someone from the inside out." The more she thought about it the 3 girls were the least of her concern.

"I could very well hold them all in the shadow realm but... it will take a lot of concentration to contain them and keep track of them."

"Don't. You have no idea what would happen if that girl were to weaken your realm if that is possible."

"Alright, we need to take them in alive I assume? I think it's best to kill Shane considering what he has gone and most likely will continue to do. I can stop incoming projectiles but not sure how well and for how long. Also never done that before."

"Annie must a certain range for her to do that to someone. Then again I also have a range but don't know mine yet. Which kind of gives her an advantage"

"Okay, thanks Dad, love you," she said hanging up. Turning to Shane she said in a low voice, "There, that is arranged. It'll take him about an hour to get into town and to the bank. We should be out of town by then and can reach a bank."

Shane looks around the diner for any other signs of danger. He is tempted to go into the back and consume the cook, but decides against it. The last thing he wants is to cause Annie to throw up at this moment. The consumption process is hardly enjoyable to witness.

Then he looks over at the Daedalus agent he pierced. Through some form of luck the man is still alive, just brain dead. Though he wont be alive much longer, which is perfect for Shane. Consuming someone in the throws of death is much easier than someone healthy.

He strides over to the downed agent and stands over him. Without turning to face her he says, "You may want to look away. This isn't a pretty sight."

He kneels over the agent and holds his arms out to him. Black and red tendrils slither out of his body and arms, drawing the near dead agent into Shane. They surround and constrict around him, breaking his bones and absorbing his living tissue. It doesn't take but a few seconds for the entire act to happen. Almost as soon as they had appeared, the tendrils wrap into themselves and disappear into Shane's body.

A wave of memories flood Shane's mind: childhood, adolescence, adulthood, marriage, recruitment, a briefing, doubts shared with his now melted partner, and the moment he realized he wasn't supposed to survive this.

He stands and turns back to Annie, "They are targeting places I used as a safe house in the past. The one the girls are at will be attacked. Thankfully the place is looked after by an extremely powerful metahuman. They should be safe. Let's get out of here. We're going to take the car they came in."

He goes over to the steadily decomposing second agent and reaches into his coat pocket, pulling out a set of keys. Shane makes his way toward the door again, keeping his eyes away from Annie's after what he did in front of her.

Annie glanced away briefly as Shane had advised but at the sound of the first crunch she glanced back at him as he consumed the agent. She winced at the sight, but otherwise seemed little bothered. In her view that is one less Daedalus agent in the world, and that made it for her at least a better place.

Opening the door she turned and said to Shane, "I still think you're way of killing someone is more humane than mine."

Growing more serious about the matter at hand she asked, "Are they targeting my father? I doubt they would, but right now I wouldn't put anything past Daedalus." The fact of the matter is that Daedalus had someone far more important to her (or at least they assumed far more important to her) than her father at their HQ: the two year old child who could also manipulate liquids.

Trinity's heart paused at the sound of his concern.  She didn't think about it like that.  However, the Shadow Realm isn't hers it's anyone's that can get there.

But quickly she got a hold of herself, there wasn't time for this now.  She checked her smart phone and found the search of the guys name on property and credit cards brought up a couple of things. None is the car, the other is a transaction at an ATM machine, which wasn't the diner.

"Looks like we'll be on a look out for this car." she showed Theonis.  "I did mention that when he absorbs metas he absorbed their powers.  I'm not sure if it's temporary but he did absorbed a pyro meta and a meta that has an ability to see the future.  We need to make sure we're prepared for that as well."

Theonis couldn't help but chuckle about the comment regarding seeing the future. He had always been very skeptical about that.

"If he really could see into the future then he would have seen all of the commotion coming. But he didn't. So that would mean that he has to switch to that form or power. Or that it is lost."

"Fire won't be a problem for me. I can handle that."

Shane halts for a moment. He had wanted to avoid adding any additional worry to her, but now that she has asked he has no choice.

"I wouldn't say targeting, but they are watching him closely. Odds are they bugged his phone. They probably know you've called, and that he is going to help you. What that means for him, I don't really know, but he should probably lay low after wiring the money...of they allow him to."

Shane walks out into the parking lot and presses the unlock button on the key-fab. A black sedan's lights blink from only a few feet away. He walks over to it and opens the door for Annie. "Do you have any other family?"

"Any other family..." Annie muttered, getting into the car. Perhaps now was the time to let the cat out of the bag. Speaking up she said, "The only other family I have is my son, but they already have him at HQ. It's why I'm not that concerned about my father. And, my father has always been a cautious man- paranoid you might call it- believing that the government is out to get all of us anyways."

Thoughtfully she added, "Considering my father's paranoia you'd think I wouldn't have gotten mixed up with Daedalus. I guess I was never one to listen very well."

"I think that's it. Let's head to the diner." she held his hand and looked into his eyes, "Be careful out there." She knew she didn't have to say it but she felt that she needed to say something.

Around three minutes later in the real world she emerges from the back of the building. She found a matching car that the hotel manager owned, after confirming the liscence plate, "This is the place alright..." shortly she heard someone coming followed by a sound of a car being unlocked.

She ducked against the side of the car carefully not making a sound. She went to the back of the car thinking Theonis was following her lead. She was able to see enough to see when the car backs up.

"Any other family..." Annie muttered, getting into the car. Perhaps now was the time to let the cat out of the bag. Speaking up she said, "The only other family I have is my son, but they already have him at HQ. It's why I'm not that concerned about my father. And, my father has always been a cautious man- paranoid you might call it- believing that the government is out to get all of us anyways."

Thoughtfully she added, "Considering my father's paranoia you'd think I wouldn't have gotten mixed up with Daedalus. I guess I was never one to listen very well."

Shane climbs into the car and pulls the door shut just as she mentions having a child. Any cautionary thoughts he had are thrown out the window as he whips his head around to face her.

"You're son?! You had a son?! You have a son?! When--I mean--who?"

Annie sighed pinching the bridge of her nose, "Just drive and I'll explain on the way..."

"One of their experiments was to see if metahumans gave birth to metahumans," Annie explained. "It was about three years ago when I was selected to be a part of the experiment. They knocked me out to do the experiment so I really had no say in what happened..."

"Anyhow the experiment was a success," Annie said. "I became pregnant and my child is a meta-human with powers almost identical to mine, minus the ability to shift into liquid. The father is one of the scientists who was responsible for watching me. It isn't like I had a whole lot of choice in the whole matter."

Annie sighed pinching the bridge of her nose, "Just drive and I'll explain on the way..."

Shane puts the car into drive and swings past the now abandoned vehicle of the hotel manager. His attention is so glued to Annie that he doesn't notice the presence of more metahumans in the area.

He ponders her statement. Why would they artificially inseminate a woman to see if she would birth a metahuman.

"Those idiots. I told them years ago that the radiation would eventually alter the genetics of the metahuman. Of course a metahuman could give birth to another, it's just a matter of fact. Why...ugh, those bastards"

Shane takes a moment to collect himself. This isn't about revenge for her. She needs to save someone just like he does. His tone more calm, he says to her, "We'll get him out of there. There's nothing they can do to stop us."

The car is brought to a sudden halt as Trinity shifted the shadow into a tar-like substance. She waits as they try to get back out to asses the problem. Quietly she said to Theonis, "Get ready...."
