A Moment of Romance
Jaden and Jesse had finally arrived back at the infirmary after going to get medicine to heal the hurt Blair. As they climb out of the air shaft, the only way to get into the infirmary safely, they look right and then left, but they can't find the school nurse, Miss Fontaine.
At first, that is. Then she appears within a group of duel ghouls, a group of most of the students that had been taken over by someone or something and are obsessed with dueling. Many of the few students here had become that way, and it was becoming more and more dangerous for the rest of the students and the few staff member to be around.
Anyways, it seemed that Miss Fontaine had become one of the duel ghouls, and she had no intention of helping the ill Blair.
"Why don't you boys play with me?" Miss Fontaine asks them, her and the other ghouls standing in their way to Blair.
"Jesse, get Blair and get out of here!" Jaden yells to his blue haired partner. "I'll hold them off while you two get away from here!"
Jesse nods his assent and tries to just get across the room, but is cut off by the duel ghouls, groaning and moaning about wanting to duel him. Then there's a small explosion as Avion appears to clear a path for him. "Go Now!" Jaden yells.
Jesse runs over to her side, trying to figure out how to pick her up so he won't put her in any more pain than she is already in.
Crack!
Parts of the ceiling fall down. Right over Blair. In a split second, Jesse protects her, getting hit by the debri himself. He winces in pain, but is relieved he realized the tiles were falling there in time.
What he didn't notice was the gentle groan and half open eyed look he received from Blair.
"Are you okay, Jess?" Jaden calls.
"I'm fine. So is Blair." He replies.
'Why did he protect me?' Blair asks herself in wonder.
"You're gonna be alright Blair." Jesse reassures her quietly, as if she is still sleeping. He lifts her up into his arms, holding her like a groom would hold a bride.
'He didn't need to protect me, but he did.' She says to herself in her mind. 'But I shouldn't be thinking like this. There's nothing there.' She thinks.
And that's the truth. Because even if he did feel something for her, she knew she didn't feel that way about him. She knew she cared about Marcel and had to save him. The moment of a romance possibility lasted only that and would probably never come up again. Or maybe it will. Only the future will tell.
