Mirror started to panic. She made a date! How could she had let that happen?! She wasn't ready for that kind of thing! "I. . .I should. . .I should go and cancel or. . .or tell him I don't want it to be a date. . .why didn't you stop me?!"

Jake trembled. "I. . .I wanted to show my mother how I could make her garden grow, even though there was a drought. . .But I got careless. . .before I knew it, vines became a knife into her chest. Leigha and I tried to explain that it was an accident, but no one would listen, father wouldn't listen. . .And. . .what's worse? She. . .she was pregnant with our younger sibling. They were able to save it. But had it happened two weeks earlier I could have killed them both."

Lila grinned. "Not too much faster! Or we'll fly off."

Kirari listened and closed her eyes in pained empathy. "I . . . I was really angry at my parents. My father had crafted the sword I carry with me, and had given it to me . . . but then- They told me I couldn't go outside anymore. They told me it was too dangerous. I got . . . angry. And . . . I couldn't control my flames. Soon, the house was an inferno. And by the time I forced my own fire back into me . . . the damage was done. My sister . . . when she came back home . . . it was . . . ashes. She- . . ." her voice broke. "I was run out of town . . . my sister leading the mob." she whispered, hugging onto Jake tightly. "My sister wouldn't listen either."

Michael was a bit taken aback as she turned the situation onto him. "How could I? It happened extremely quickly!" he said, taking a small step back, hoping to be ready to dodge should she lash out.

Ricky grinned and then took a deep breath. When he let it out, the air was much stronger and more concentrated and he was able to spin them around faster while they both stayed on the carousel than they could have done otherwise.

Jake nodded and held her close. "I guess that's where we differ. Yours ran you out, mine ran with me. But she took on the emotion damage. . ."

Mirror pouted. "Well. . .I. . .I wasn't paying much attention to what he was saying either."

Lila squealed and hung on as they spun a little faster.

Kirari leaned against Jake, taking comfort in his closeness and hoping that he was taking comfort from her being close as well. "Yours is also a magi . . . My sister never developed any powers." she murmured. "Things'll get better Jake. I know they will." she whispered to him, cuddling close.

Michael smiled a little. "Well, if you like, when he comes to pick you up, I can help you turn him down gently." he said, placing a hand on her shoulder.

Ricky laughed, and then decided to hop off the carousel. He hit the ground, stumbled and fell flat on his face. He then proceeded to roll over onto his back, staring up at the sky. He felt really dizzy. But, he was still laughing. He'd never played on a playground before. The RA didn't really have such facilities. It was a resistance camp. Not a sanctuary. Ricky had never had so much fun before.

Lila jumped off the carousel too and giggled. "That was fun!" She cried and sat down with him.

Mirror blushed. "I. . .Yeah. Please? I mean. . .I'm not ready to date. So help would be good."

Jake nodded and held her closer. "I know they will, now that I have you." He replied and kissed her head. The way they were cuddling allowed him to give a sneaky rub to her behind.

Ricky smiled, "Yeah. I've never been on one of those before! It's fun! But also dizzy." he said, grinning up at the sky.

Michael smiled and chuckled again. "I'll make sure that there's no confusion." he said, unable to help but be at least slightly amused by Mirror's predicament. "What was your suitor's name again?" he asked, having not been paying full attention when the other arrived. Something beginning with an 'h', he thought. But he wasn't certain.

Kirari smiled and cuddled close, nuzzling against him before she felt his hand and she stiffened a little, a blush breaking out over her cheeks as small flames burst to life on her cheekbones. "Jake . . ." she muttered, slightly scolding him, but mostly . . . embarrassed? She certainly hadn't been expecting such an action.

Jake pulled back the moment she said his name. "I'm sorry!" He said quickly. "I don't. .. I didn't mean. . ." He looked away. He really hadn't meant to touch her in that way! Not after her ordeal! He'd planned to just use it as leverage to bring her closer but then had kept his hands there. Damn it!

Mirror paced a little until her feet diverted her and she smacked into a nearby chair. She gave a rather creative curse. Why had Hugh done that?! She'd never known him to show her interest, and she had certainly never alluded to any either. "Hugh." She replied her tone pained. She heard the smirk in his voice. "It's not funny." She added with a pout.

Lila beamed. "Yeah. Some are different, as you spin you go up and down a little. Like riding a horse."

"It's a little funny." Michael countered, though he had stopped smirking once Mirror ran into the chair. "Hugh. I'll try to remember the name." he said, nodding.

Ricky looked skeptical. "I don't know if I'd like that one." he muttered. Going around in circles was great. Going up and down was great. But he wasn't sure he'd be fond of mixing the two together.

The flame slowly subsided after Jake pulled back. Kirari reached out and pulled herself closer. "It's . . . fine. I just . . . warn me next time?" she asked, looking a bit sheepish. She was still blushing, but at least she had her flames under control.

Mirror sighed. "I. . .I suppose it is. . ." She replied rubbing her belly. "I just. . .I'm not just physically blind I'm now romantically blind. I mean I've not even talked to him other than a hello at the dining hall."

Lila grinned. "I've been on one, the going up and down thing is slow. I think it's fun." She sat up and took a deep breathe as the breeze brushed against her face.

Jake nodded. "I'm sorry." He said again. Damn. He was so stupid! No wonder Leigha yelled at him all the time.

Michael shrugged. "If it means anything to you, I can admit that I'm not too perceptive when it comes to romance either." he said before sighing and crossing to Mirror. "Here. I'll help guide you so you don't run into things. And you can practice using mirrors to see." he said stepping into place behind her and gently placing his hands on her shoulders. "Be creative with your element. It's yours. Any small thing can help." his words of encouragement were soft and soothing. He hadn't really had the chance to teach someone how to see with their element before. And he was finding himself somewhat enjoying sharing what he had been forced to learn by himself. He hoped that maybe he could help Mirror cope better than he had.

Ricky smiled. "I guess if it's going slow on the ups and downs, it might be fun." he said, before sitting up as the dizziness faded. "Where's the up and down one?" he asked curiously.

Kirari sighed and then smiled at Jake. "Stop apologizing. Okay? You already apologized and there's no point in apologizing again after I've already said it's fine." she said, before pausing and frowning. "And if you apologize for apologizing, I'm gonna smack you." she said quickly, pointing a scolding finger at him.

Mirror could feel her cheeks heating up as Michael's tone turned into their deep and silky waves. Her toes curled in her shoes and she forced herself to nod. "Yeah." She croaked out not feeling the desire to do anything but turn and kiss him. She couldn't do that. He didn't like her in that way, and it would be wrong to force herself onto him. "how do I adjust to everything being flipped a different way?" She asked. "My depth perception will be different now. Will I adapt?"

Lila beamed more and took his hand, guiding him to the see saw. "This way." She said giggling.

Jake tried to keep the distress from his voice. Okay. So she was okay. "I- . . . Okay." He said quickly. "I get it. No more apologising."

Michael was quiet, thinking. "I adapted to darkness. I imagine you can adapt as well . . ." he muttered before he thought of something. "Eyes are . . . reflective . . . aren't they?" he asked. He no longer had his, but she still had hers . . . It was possible she could still see through her own eyes, though it wouldn't be in the traditional way.

Ricky grinned, following Lila, giggling as well.

Kirari sighed with a smile. "Right." she said, before patting him on the head. "You don't have to apologize for every little thing." she said softly, ruffling his hair.

Mirror frowned to herself. "I. . .I guess, if the light is hitting them the right way and there is the right amount of darkness too." Her tone was full of contemplation. "I never really thought about it that much." She stared best she could in front of her. She began to zone out as the thoughts of snogging him grew.

"Ready?" Lila asked when she sat on her side of the see saw.

Jake blushed and nodded. "Yeah." He replied, defeated. "I'll try not too."

Michael moved behind her, letting his shadows guide his movements. He placed his hands on her shoulders, positioning his head by hers in an attempt to gain something of a perspective. Truly not what the poets meant when they talked of the blind leading the blind. "Focus. Think of the reflections as the light hits your eyes. Tap into even the smallest hint of your element. Take time to attune deeper into your power. You can do this." he encouraged gently.

Ricky sat on the other side, looking a little confused and then startled when his side dipped down as he sat on it. "It moved!" he yelped, looking over at Lila with a big grin.

Kirari moved from ruffling his hair to gently running her fingers through it. "It . . . it was scary. Being in that place." she said, her voice hesitant. "But . . . I knew I'd be okay. Because I knew you'd be there for me. I just needed to find the right time to call for you. And you came. So I don't need to be scared. I have you." she said, smiling softly at him.

Mirror couldn't help but flinch when Michael touched her shoulders, her cheeks heated and her nose twitched as she picked him his scent. This is so not fair. She thought as he spoke. She didn't really hear him at first. So she just hummed and closed her eyes. A vain attempt to calm and center herself to the moment. Maybe going out with Hugh was a good idea. "Okay." She took a deep breath again and tried to remember what Michael had said. Focus. Don't think just feel.

Lila grinned and pushed her legs so that the see-saw moved up and down. She moved slowly, so Ricky wouldn't get upset.

Jake closed his eyes and leaned into Kirari's touch. "I will always be there for you." He murmured. A noise, against his will, tumbled from his throat and Jake's eyes flashed open. "S-sorry." He stumbled over the word and moved back, bending at the waist a little. "Sorry."
