You've all forgotten one truly magnificent military gentleman: Napoleon Bonaparte.

For goodness sake, if you wish to hear of someone who had a great impact on the world, look no further.

He was responsible for the selling of Louisiana, encouraging the U.S. to become a force to be reckoned with in the world.

His Peninsular War with Portugal and Spain and capture of those two countries lead to decline of the Spanish Empire in the Americas.

Dominated the European continent for over a DECADE! Under his reign the Napoleonic Code (still an existant legal code today) which encouraged merit rather than birth right would in the decades to follow lead to various declines in European monarchial power and imperialistic power.

And note, Napoleon's greatest defeat, he was not defeated by any army, he was defeated by the cold winter in Russia. And Waterloo, the deck was stacked against Napoleon, and even then, he held his ground well, if it hadn't been for Prussian reinforcements, Wellington would have lost.
