I don't know if this has been posted here before, but..

I just wanted to know what religious affiliations otherkin here have, and if it conflicts with their kinship and otherkin beliefs.

I know an angel who is a Christian, and hir kinship does not conflict with her religion.
But I assume there are a few angels or demons who do not believe in god, or something else to that effect.

Also discuss if people around you have tried to use religion against your beliefs.

I take in different ideals from different religions and form them into my own. I guess you could say i don't have a set religion; i just take different principals that i agree with and follow them. That being said, i can't really say that my kintype is conflicting with my religion, because technically i don't have one. I do follow some religious views that would be connected to my kintype, but i also have some that might not.

I consider myself a reconstructionistic teutonic/norse heathenry based pagan.
This does not contradict my belief that I am otherkin because, even if it's less known, the viking people Did believe in reincarnation.

It also bears to mention that not all otherkin believe that their otherness is the result of reincarnation (or transmigration of species), some believe that it's a psychological thing, not a metaphysical one, which does negate the need for it to affect or be affected by religious views.

@Rikuphi- So your religion is based around your kinship?

@Miniar- It's true that not all otherkin believe they're other simply from a belief in reincarnation... indeed one would almost have to believe in reincarnation beforehand.
It would be interesting to be an atheist who identified with an angel/demon type-kin while not believing in them. Would their premise be a connection to literature?

Archetypal connection,.. purely psychological.
They wouldn't be the only ones.

Yeah... archetypes...
When I think of archetypes, symbols, themes, etc... I think of characters and stories. *dies*

Jung's a huge inspiration. mrgreen

So what kind of "connection" is an archetype? Merely an association?

No. I'm sorry if i gave you that impression. What i'm trying to say is i follow a lot of different religions, and make all of those different religions my own; it has nothing to do with my kinship. There are little pieces of a specific religion that i agree with so i choose to follow that one piece, along with the other pieces from the other religions i follow. I basically just follow what i believe, and those beliefs happen to be from different religions.

Celtic Pagan.
Loose reconstructionist, really, but I don't follow holidays and rituals as closely as i should. Been meaning to do more of that.
It has no real conflict with my draconity. The gods treat me just as they would any other. I feel on equal footing with them in some ways, however.
