Mavrick Hunter Zero Charonai I'm fairly sure I saw more than what I remember but I saw parts of Mobile Suit Gundam and Gundam Wing, I saw and owned G Gundam and the Endless Waltz. And Gundam Seed... I just saw someone's post on that... And then there was the movie for Escaflowne and Big O, which were mecha but not Gundam related. Ooh, and Outlaw Star heart I've been meaning to watch Escaflowne, but havent gotten around to. How is it? I had the OVA/ movie which was a super condensed version and obviously different from the series as a whole but.... after seeing it a few times it makes more sense and I liked it. I think it's made for people who have already seen the series (like Firefly and Serenity for example). The animation and music was good but some of the characters were a little odd or were really crazy hybrids (I liked that though).
As far as plot and bots go their mech setup was quite different. Their mecha are suits made for war, and if I remember correctly they're somehow tied to dragons. The suits are very particular and will only take a few pilots, but they're basically powered by blood... or so it seemed. (It never hurt the human girl that arrived in it but she also had no idea what it was or that she had been transported into a different world.)
Kinda makes me think Fushigi Yuugi plus war and robots, I don't know how else to compare it...
I need to see the series though, some of the characters were too fun to watch.

Alright, I'll definitely give it a shot when I have some more time.

Mavrick Hunter Zero Charonai Mavrick Hunter Zero Alright, I'll definitely give it a shot when I have some more time. It's a bit abstract if you watch it blind I think (without seeing the series I mean), but if you're focused and typically watch a bunch of anime you'll probably be okay. I usually read so much I can figure out the plots super fast gonk Yeah, I might watch the series. But I can generally catch on pretty quickly.
ESCAFLOWNE was one of my first anime's! Their mechs are powered by a dragons heart, (or used to be, a mass production type mech gets created and thus starts an issue as one side gets way more powerful all of a sudden) dragons are going extinct, and the prince of one country Van hunts the last one, and ends up caught in a magical bridge from his world to ours which only occurs every so often. A girl from our world see's him slay the dragon as she practices for track and field alone after school. She later sees the same beam and either gets sucked into his world or chooses to step into it to prove she isn't crazy.
Their world is a lot more feudal and a bit further behind in public services than ours, but they have magic and mech devices (but not say public schools,) they still have reigning monarchies and depens on knights and wizards. They have several species (including angels - which is a plot twist later on) AND biggest surprise of all Hitomi - which is the earth girl sucked into their world turns out to be a powerful psychic there, getting glimpses of the future, thus she becomes highly sought after as a tool of war.
All fun. There are some weird gender bending magic, and manipulation of characters by kidnapping family members and such , but all over a cool show (Van's mech transforms)

My first anime I can remember seeing was Macross/Robotech, such an amazing show. I should go back and rewatch it as an adult.
