my family is one of those nice Muggle Christmas card ones, but only on the outside. There is Mother and Father who plaster on fake smiles for the camera even though they have been arguing for years. Apparently, Father is now trying to find a new flat these days. The saddest part of it all is that they can't get divorced. Pureblood marriage contracts dictate that they must be legally married until they die. Then, there is Edgar, who is my twin brother. Edgar is the exact opposite of me, but we look out for each other here at Hogwarts. After Edgar is baby Gregory who started Hogwarts as a Hufflepuff also. Gregory is the peacemaker in the house. In fact, he is the only reason why Father didn't just go out and move out right away. Finally, there is me, Amelia Susan Bones, but you can call me Melia or Lia. I'm the intelligent one, the one that will best uphold the name of Bones.
Appearance:
Taking after all the Bones, Amelia has the same dark hair as her father and brothers. Thin with delicate bones that make her look as if she was spun of glass, her short stature of 5 foot 2makes her seem like a porcelain doll that should be set on a shelf, not riding around on her broom. Her most startling feature her twin brother does not have; Amelia's only gift from her mother. A pair of vibrant blue eyes that have been described to look as if they possessed chips of sky in them peered out from pale skin.
Personality:
Amelia Bones can best be related to an onion. There were many layers of her you had to peel away before you got to her core. To most strangers and many adults, she was quiet and shy. With her curtain of hair and tiny smile, she seemed to be merely a part of the scenery. At the same time, Melia was whip smart. One of the top of her class, she had the same humbleness and class that many of the Hufflepuff students had. However, under all the masks, she was just Lia Bones. Her best friends know her as the girl with the laugh that comes straight from her stomach, the one who just loved having fun. Around people she knew and trusted, she was just a normal girl who enjoyed the normal trivial things of a teenager. In her heart, though, Amelia blamed herself and kept on trying to prove herself. Her parents never congratulated her when she came back with superb O.W.L. scores or managed to become prefect. No, she was always second best to their biggest loves, themselves. She tried her hardest and strived to let them see her, but they didn't see her.
Can't get enough:
Magical Law; when I graduate from Hogwarts, I plan on joining the Ministry and later preceding over Wizegamot.
Reading; while all my other friends are out frolicking by the Lake, I'm in the library reading The Count of Monte Cristo. Ever since I picked up a book, I have been a voracious reader. I'll read anything from Muggle cooking books to old Wizarding manuscripts.
Ice Cream; Edgar says I'll get fat if I eat too much of it, but it taste so bloody good. Sometimes, I just envision myself with a strawberry ice cream cone from Fortescue's and the whole world will seem a little better.
My siblings; everyone says that siblings are genetically programmed to want to kill each other but that is not the case. Growing up, we had to learn how to fend for ourselves since Mother and Father argued all day. Edgar is a tad overprotective and Greg can be whiny. I wouldn't trade them for anything in the world.
Orange; Melia's favorite color was orange. To her, it was her in color form. Dusky dark orange was unnoticeable and quiet. On the other hand, there was also neon orange that could be seen from far away.
Boys; Amelia loved everything about boys, their spicy smell of cologne to the soft worn-in white button downs that they wore. Even though it wasn't always a romantic way of thinking, she did have a tragic love life starting in third year.
Don't come near me with:
War; especially with the war that is brewing, Amelia does not want to choose sides at all. Edgar plans to join the Order, but she doesn't have the same Gryffindor courage her brother possesses.
"Goody-two-shoes"; despite what you think and what you hear, Amelia Bones was not a stuck-up teacher's pet. No way. Over her dead body. Just because she was polite and liked to answer questions didn't make her a goody-two-shoes. Period.
Insomnia; Amelia has a bad habit of being unable to fall asleep at night. Muggles called it insomnia and from the age of five she had been taking potions to help her sleep. However, often times, she will wake up in the middle of the night while the rest of the dormitory is still asleep and go out into the common room. During these nights is when she feels the most alone in the world. The only one awake while the rest is silent.
Blood prejudice; even though she is a pureblood, Amelia finds it horrible that they looked down on Muggleborns. Just look at Lily Evans, the brightest witch of the year. She was a Muggleborn and probably more talented than most of the purebloods at Hogwarts.
Singing; one of the things Melia was not blessed with was a beautiful singing voice. Her normal sound was a little husky but besides that it was fine. But, singing, it sounded as if a banshee was wailing.
Misogyny; just because they didn't have the same parts as a male does doesn't mean they were the weaker gender. Amelia was proud to be a female, and she could do anything Edgar did. In fact, she could do anything he did better.
Story of my life
Karina Bones and Edgar Bones Jr. were bound to marriage the day they were born under a marriage contract drawn between the two families. Perhaps they did love each other in the beginning or maybe it was lust because one crisp May morning not one but two fine babies were born into the family. Edgar Jonathon Bones III., the older one, and Amelia Susan Bones were inseparable from the time they came out of the womb. They fought, made-up, and fought again. He watched out for her little sister and in return she would get him out of tricky situations.
It was around age four after Gregory Thomas Bones was born that there was trouble in the house. The parents' marriage just seem to be dissolving before their eyes. Many nights, Amelia would see her Father transfiguring the couch into a bed for himself. Often times, Edgar Bones Sr. left early for work and arrived extremely late while Karina would take to bed with a bottle of Firewhiskey. Everyone had their own way of coping, Amelia would spend hours upon end in her family's library reading books. During this time, she started to develop insomnia and would often spend nights roaming around the small brownstone.
Finally, her Hogwarts's letter came in the mail. It was what Amelia had been waiting for her whole entire childhood, escape. Excited did not cover her feelings. Hogwarts. Hogwarts. Hoggy Hoggy Hog Wash Hogwarts. At Hogwarts, Melia was sorted into Hufflepuff, her father's house, while her twin brother went into Gryffindor. The Sorting Hat had declared that she could have gone either way into any house, so she chose the house of her ancestors. For the next six years of her school career, she studied hard trying to prove she was the best. After graduation would mean going to the Ministry and applying for a job in Law Enforcement so she could further pursue her dream of Magical Law. It was her seventh year and she was determined to make it her best. Partying, boys, dancing, and whatever she could fit in before entering the treacherous reality of life.

Okay, if you tell anyone, well, I've been dying to test out this new spell I researched. From what I've read, the effects can be rather painful and permanent.
