The shower stall Caressa had chosen dimly glowed with the waning sunlight. Shower plants were being turned off, and soon, all the fruit witch could hear was the drip, drip of her leaky shower plant. Her knees were up against her chest on the small rock that her shower stall had provided. Here, she waited, cramped up in her stall. She had untied one of her precious lavender ribbons to hold the curtain entrance shut. Caressa was so scared. She was a monster. She had killed, turned her victims into large plump apples to feed to the host that she had since tore from her head. The separation had been painful; it had had two years to fuse with her scalp, her desires merging with it's. She shivered in the the midst of the steamy swamp air.
Mew! she heard. It came from in her lap, where her kitty lay. It knew she was brooding. It was pretty much all the fruit babe did, but the tiny kitten was indebted to her for saving her from a pack of fire-wolves. Caressa knew not where the cat had come, but she knew she couldn't leave it there. She may be a monster, but that kitten was like her, alone, and vulnerable. It hadn't been Caressa's choice to become what she had. In her tribe, the Fruit Witches and Wizards Tribe, it was an honor for a family's daughter to become one with a host. One they were united, there was no separation. If it weren't for her Fruit Witch sister, Clover, the short, dark haired girl with the blue ribbons, kicking Caressa's host from her head when she was turned into one of the vile apples the witches created, she'd still be back there, a slave in her own body. The only mercy was that when she was in a union with her host, she wasn't aware that it was wrong; the host's desires were hers. That day, her life had changed; after following the legendary heros Finn and Jake from that dank dungeon, Caressa had begun her journey of self redemption.
The final rays from the setting sun disappeared behind the hill, and the Fruit Witch flew from her stall, out towards the surrounding mountainside covered in trees in search of food. When she found a berry bush, she paused and engorged herself, enjoying the freedom from the cramped space of the shower stall in the Swamp of Embarrassment.
