Asiri carefully watches the Draconian's movements up the cliff. She tilts her head slightly once she's at the top and hollers down at her. She rubs her hands together and takes a deep breath before grabbing a hold of a rock and hoists herself up.

An eye twitches as she mentally scowls at herself for her slow climb. Her rock climbing isn't the best, but why would it be? Her terrain is the sea, not rocky cliffs. Nevertheless, she still climbs the mountainside. With her hand gripping on a safely secure rock, she brings up a leg, but her foot slips off and leaves her small body dangling off. She bites her lip to prevent any attraction if anything bad was nearby.

Feeling the weight of her body in her shoulders, she struggled to reply,
"I might."

Gavyn Alden

Gavyn had kept quite for the most part when he had met with the rest of his team the next day, studying them as he listened to the plans being made. He was surprised to see that they all seemed quite capable, some a bit cocky, but still. Their leader, even, seemed to be quite fit for his job, confident and with a good head on his shoulders. There wasn't too much worry within Gavyn, but then again, this was only the beginning. Who could know how it would turn out in the end.

The night before, through much thinking and decision making, Gavyn had decided to leave his cane behind, electing, instead, to bring his sword and slingshot. While a dagger might have been a better idea, in the event that he were to be somehow captured, Gavyn couldn't remember a time when his slingshot had let him down. It was a weapon that he had been familiar with since a boy working in the fields of Ithus. Gavyn was slightly worried about leaving his cane; he hadn't relied on his magic for months to keep him standing, and while he was very capable of doing just so, his mixed powers would only be more agitated while keeping him standing, both working against each other just to do that simple job. But, what could he do? All he could do was just deal with it.

Now as the groups were to split up, he took a better look at their team. There was a happiness within him when he saw that Memori, the girl from the night before, would be teamed up with him. While only acquaintances, a familiar face was welcomed all the same. The other two he didn't know much about, but then again, if all went well, he would get to know them later.

Turning towards the forest, Gavyn thought for a moment before speaking.

"I will lead the way, if there are no objections."

Gavyn was sure with his abundance of military experience plus the fact that, as a youngster, he had become quite the expert of sneaking around and hiding, that he would be fit for the job to lead them. He also figured he had the least to lose. He was an ex-military cripple without a family. What did he have to live for?

Aidan smirked as he saw the draconian pass him climbing. Of course she would have more advantage than him, giving it that he was more comfortable in water. He didn't do a lot of research into the element of earth or wind, or even fire. He had decided to stick to water. Aidan looked down at the struggling nymph and descended to her side.

"Looks like you're having problems. Might if I help?" he asked as one of his hands let go of the stone and extending it towards Asiri. He then looked up at the draconian and quietly said, "We have this under control" He couldn't risk shouting, but he knew the draconian had heard. He looked over at Asiri and tilted his head to the side. "I know rock climbing isn't as easy as swimming, but we have to do it/ As I see it, we have two options. We can climb side by side, or you can just hop on my back and let me carry you to the top," he said looking up at the cliff and then turning to the nymph.

Nothing would come to obscure this path, so it would seem. Setting aside the occasional rays of light that dared sift through the leaves in the trees to touch down on the ground. Of course he made a deliberate step or two to avoid contact with it. Doan knew such small shafts of it wouldn't be a big deal to his eyesight, but he was squinting enough as it was. Pressing forward until he found a message sent to him, written on the shaft of an arrow. Well, he didn't really find it. It was shot towards him, at a place near his quick feet. If it hadn't been for it's distinct coloring and the fact that it didn't hit him at all, he would have suspected a threat.

No threat at all. In fact, the opposite. The message regarding to him was short and to the point. It had to be, obviously. It was literally written on the arrow. Impressive, he thought a bit to himself. Doing as told, he kept it snatched up in his hand and made haste in the direction he had came. He wasn't as fast this time, making sure he really was going the right way. He was also making a double take on the area visible to him. Just be sure there would be no danger he may have missed before. As previously, there was none. Easy enough.

Eventually spotting them, he slowed his approach as he came closer. There must have been something rather important found that would be the cause of rounding up the rest of this group. To be sure he wasn't going to be too quiet on them, he purposely stepped on a few broken twigs. It would have to suffice for announcing his presence. Still, he hung slightly further back than some of the others, choosing the best shadow he could stand in. With a brow furrowed in thought, he examined what the topic of controversy was. The opening of grass, each blade swaying and delicate, trees circling. He thought he saw an item of their interest in the center of it all, yet he wasn't too sure. His eyes had yet to fully adjust, straining enough as it was to the light of day. It hurt him a bit that he doubted how much of a help he could be if he couldn't fully see in the opening of glorious sunlight. Still, he thought. What could the group do?

He rolled the arrow between two fingers while contemplating. His fault here was that he was the type to carry out orders, not muse them. He doubted the safety of that glade as the leader had. As did the small woman of crimson. She spoke as if she possessed a sort of power that would make reaching this object simpler than another. He was certain she did. He looked to the leader once again for her response. Did any of the others have a take on the matter that would make this a safe retrieval?

It could only be expected that running would be a part of the beginning of this game. Running and learning the ground they would need to not only harvest and eat from, but to have the advantage of knowledge to their bit of land. To have a feel for their area better than just a map would be a help, would it not? Well, it couldn't hurt. Lesine was moving through the forest in the direction she was told, taking a flank. She was as vigilant as she could be. Her strength was not by any means running distances. She could swim further than any of these folks for sure. Further and faster. In a tussle, if she had access to open water it was almost a sure victory. Sadly, it seemed she was bound to land. To be specific, bound to a mass of trees that were hell bent on tripping her.

She never hit the ground, always swinging a leg out in time to catch herself when a root decided to play games. She blamed the pieces of tree for sticking out too much. Yes. It was all their fault. To accommodate their feistiness, she slowed her pace to a faster jog. If that drow was doing his job, there shouldn't be any danger to face her. She could search for whatever she was searching for. Whatever it is. She supposed they were getting on the game right away and looking for either their items or base. She would keep an eye out for both, she declared to herself.

Her search, despite the spunk she possessed, was fruitless. Mostly. She identified a few simple herbs on her gallop by. They weren't big components that she'd ever use, but maybe someone would need them later. She wondered for a moment if they had a chef on their team. Lessy had spent far enough time learning on land to know quite a good amount of plant types that they may see here. Save that for later. Mental note taken! She would have to ask at some time if there would be enough down time to search for supplies that would make a surplus of her toxic concoctions. That may mean finding a moving source of water for her to search for fish. She could venture that far from the base alone safely. She wasn't a solo fighter. With enough poison to go around, she could make it so everyone's blades, arrows, anything, would be coated in a potent venom. If she was able to make the types with different effects, she supposed she could offer to let each person pick their poison. Personally, she favored the paralysis.

No time for that. Lesine caught the motion of their leader, rounding up the crew dashing with her. She also shot an arrow. Lesine guessed it was for their member ahead of them. She trotted forward still, making up for how she was noticeably slower than her new companions. What she was seeing as she became closer was that the leader had found an opening in the trees. A perfect glade if she'd ever seen one. She took a moment to admire how radiant it looked before realizing why they were gathered. The dagger they needed to hide away was sitting among tall grass which swayed in the nonexistent breeze. Staring at the vegetation, she felt immediately off. Her store bore into the plants. Their color wasn't right for just grass. She wasn't going to even pretend to be a plant expert, but she felt she remembered these from something. The siren couldn't put her finger on it, but something in her told her that coming in contact with these plants would be a terrible idea.

The leader asked for input on the situation. Still staring at the "grass", she crossed her arms over her chest with a huff. was really nagging her that she couldn't place what was wrong with these. After the little girl in red spoke, without even letting what she said sink in, words rolled off the siren's lips. "Don't touch the grass." She paused and broke off her staring contest with the plants. She was so winning it, anyways. She realized that she stated what was more than likely the obvious. "I mean, don't touch it because it's not normal. I think there's something wrong with it?" Lesine sounded the slightest unsure of herself as her last statement turned into a question. She felt like she, of all people, should know about dangerous plants. What was with these ones? Did information slip by her current mind on tall, thin blades of poisonous plants that resembled grass?

ooc: Hell, I don't know what's up with the grass. It could be poisonous, it could not. Up to y'all.

Ko nodded at each of their statements, her eyes never leaving the tall grass. At Lesine's comment, Lightbringer roamed her eyes over the grass, searching for whatever had given the grass away in the siren's eyes, but she saw nothing of interested. Just tall, beautiful green grass. She trusted Lesine's eyes more than she trusted her own, and her intuition was telling her that something was very wrong about this glade. It was too perfect. It was perfectly circular. The trunk was in the very center of the glade. The grass was all vivid green, and swayed gently, as if it were in a meadow instead of surrounded by trees.

Ko'rdan knew that attempting to retrieve the dagger would invite danger, but she would not leave it there for another team more willing to lose members than she was. The sorceress put her bow around her body and pulled out her staff. She didn't require the staff to cast her magic, but it lent her a sense of strength.

And plus, if anyone came too close to her, she could always wack them with it.

The sorceress conjured a small ball of light and sent it, hovering, into the glade. It managed to reach the dagger unscathed, and hover over the handle. Unfortunately, Ko didn't possess the ability to simply magic the dagger away. No one did. That wasn't how the game was meant to be played.

Next, Malandaia's leader took a large, leafy branch from the ground near them, a sturdy thing that had newly fallen from the dizzying heights of the trees above them. Grasping one end of it firmly, she approached the edge of the glade and gently lowered the leafy end into the grass.

Almost immediately, the branch was swarmed with tiny black dots, moving incredibly quickly towards the woman's hand. Ko dropped the branch and watched, her suspicions confirmed, when the branch seemed to wither away, becoming a husk of bark and dust. Where once-healthy wood had been, it was now decayed and dry. The tiny black dots had retreated back into the glade as quickly as they had come. Now she knew why Lesine hadn't trusted the grass.

"Myrnroot," Ko said by way of explanation. "Only found in the rivers of Myr, and only underwater. Well, until today." No wonder the grass had seemed so wrong. It swayed as if underwater; it was too green. And to top it all off... "It's infested with turants." Turants, the little black dots, were actually more like small bugs. They were incredibly quick, full of venom, and mostly harmless in small numbers. These were not small numbers.

Ko did not wish to send any member of her team into the grass until she was absolutely certain that it was safe, but she also realized that being a leader meant making tough decisions.

"Lesine, as our resident siren, if you have any idea how to deal with these, I would appreciate your input. Otherwise, Doan, take Lesine and run clear of here." She realized that Lesine was much more comfortable underwater, and didn't want Lesine's terrestrial clumsiness to land her in danger. "Aoi, Chrona, and I will take the dagger and meet up with you."

The Leader's demonstration was absolutely marvelous. Lesine took a step back to give a better space to the woman while she went on taking her action against the out of place grass. The siren watched with a great amount of interest and didn't break eye contact with the experiment being held out. If she blinked, she could have missed it! When the branch hit the grass, Lesine wasn't sure if she should have been more afraid, shocked, or confused. She was none of these, honestly. If anything, her sudden wild smile was ecstatic. The leader verbally confirmed the thought that came to mind after seeing this display.

Under her breath she whispered a sound of amazement. She took a step and half forward, closer to the grass glade before forcing herself to stop. She kneeled and was intent on watching the grass again. No wonder she didn't recognize it. It didn't belong on land! It made much more sense. A small bit of reading she had done flickered in the back of her mind. "Absolutely phenomenal... I'd only read of this before! Seeing it first hand is just fantastic!" Her genuine excitement for what was possibly very dangerous wasn't the most assuring. She was talking of both the water plants and the small dots. If she was any closer, she may have been in danger of having a few jump to her. She kept behind an invisible line.

She silently thought for a minute or two. As much as a liability as she could be on land, she wanted to show that she could be of some use! Think, short siren, think! An offhand thought or two came to mind, such as floating above the grass, trying to jump the the dagger and jumping back, or some ridiculous stunt as that. They immedietly shot down before she could speak. No, with the speed that the black dots could move onto something, there could be no chances taken. Even if someone was wearing full armor, they were tiny and in great numbers. There was no way the victim would get away from them when they undoubtedly seeped onto their skin.

She vocalized her next thought to show she was actually making progress in her bubbly head of hers. Luckily, this one made sense and was serious. She let her excitement for the small creatures subside long enough to get her input on the situation on the metaphorical table. "Well... Look at what they're on. The grass that should be underwater, right? Without the grass, they couldn't move nearly as fast. They need something to travel on and it looks like, from that branch, they want to stay on the grass. If they didn't, they'd be on us already. We'd probably be dead," The last bit was a little unneeded and not greatly assuring. "... But anyways. If we rid the grass from the glade, we could walk on it. Since we can't just cut it down, why not burn it? I'm not a spell caster myself and don't know the powers of our crew here, but surely someone on our team has some ability to light this up. Since it's underwater grass, it must be drying by now. With the grass burning, those buggers would burn, too. I would just suggest sending the place on fire from a distance... In case they go airborn in the smoke, you know? Since it's only the dagger we're going for, it'll be fine if fire touched it. It's not a scroll; it won't burn." It was easy to tell where Lesine's plan was making sense in her head. She spoke faster and with more enthusiasm as it rolled off her tongue, a grin tugging on the edges of her lips. She wasn't the best at making plans, but she felt she knew what she was doing when it came to plants and poison. She stood again and looked up to the Leader for her response. The yay or nay. Maybe she had something pop in her mind while Lesine had rambled on. Before someone could respond to the idea, she interjected, "If we end up doing this, would it be too terrible if we left at least a small bit unlit? I would absolutely love having some of these nasty vermin to test on." Was test the right word? She wasn't testing on them. She could see what they do. She just wanted to find out of she could turn their venom, what made them so dangerous, into a poison she could use herself. She was only carrying two vials of her venomous brew currently. It would last only herself and one other person the entire game. She wanted to provide for the entire group of Malandaia.

White is cold and yearning, burdened by a royal test...

Aoi spoke up again, saying, "There's no need to burn it, Lesine. Allow me a moment..." She stepped up to the glade, stopping at the edge and looking carefully at the dagger in the stump. She took a few steps back, then ran toward the glade, vanishing in a red haze right as she reached the edge.

She reappeared above the dagger, her hand reaching for the handle to pull it out as she seemed to hover. She saw little dots rushing onto the stump and narrowly pulled the dagger free in time. She then seemed to push off from the air itself and vanished again.

She reappeared at the edge of the glade by her team, skidding away from it to a stop. She paused a moment before holding up the dagger in quiet success. A light grin tugged at her hooded face, but it quickly faded back into her usual, quiet expression. She still watched the glade carefully, feeling like something might still happen.

"It's just my humble opinion, but it's one that I believe in."

"That's perfectly fine with me,"
he said in response to Gavyn. He was more than happy to take which ever job was needed. Besides, it was better for him to take the rear because of his ranged weapons. Though, it may be a good idea to have a birds eye view from time to time.

"Just let me know when you would like me to scout ahead." He looked between the two as he spoke. They looked capable and strong, but surprise attacks could take down even the best. It was his job to make sure that didn't happen.

As the others began to walk, he followed. He removed his bow from its place on his back. If they were ambushed he wanted to be ready. Without his throwing knives, which he could pull out on a moment's notice, he would have to rely on the slower bow. Not that he minded too much, he had always been a better shot.

"You don't deserve a point of view if the only thing you see is you."

Ko looked at the grass as Lesine spoke, wondering if she should truly burn the glade down. As long as her team knew about it, it wouldn't be a danger to them. Other teams venturing onto their land may not be quite so cautious as they had been, and would suffer for it. Sigmund might want samples of bug and grass alike, for his own experiments, and Lesine would be able to extract the venom from the tiny bugs for her poisons. If they destroyed it, the bugs were small enough that they could float on the smoke and land elsewhere, either to spread or to hurt them. And they would lose both a defense and a potential source of venom.

Lightbringer could think of several reasons not to burn it. "We'll leave it untouched," she finally decided, explaining her reasoning. Once she had finished speaking, Aoi took a running jump and vanished, reappearing directly in the middle of the glade, above the stump, before disappearing again. She was so fast, Ko hardly even saw the glint of light as she pulled it free of the tree stump.

As soon as she had rejoined them, it seemed that a buzzing sound began. Ko checked the edges of the glade to be certain that the bugs weren't coming towards them, but the grass swayed crazily, as if the very ground underneath it was shuddering.

Before their eyes, the glade itself rose into the sky on the back of a giant creature. Its head was a conglomeration of various rock formations, the eyes black and shiny as obsidian, and fastening on the team. The very center of its back was where the tree stump was.

The creature rose back, reaching only to half the height of the giant trees, and bellowed once. It was far too massive to try and take on safely.

Ko grabbed Lesine's hand, and shouted at Aoi to sheathe the dagger. There was no time for congratulations--they just ran.

If something came up that he strongly disagreed with, he would surely speak up. He was definitely take anything spoken into consideration unless it was a direct harm to himself or another member. He was not given this chance. He was about to open his mouth to give his nay towards the option of bringing fire into the equation. The leader and crimson girl had denied it before he could. His problem was that he didn't know how uncontrollable the fire could be. that and anyone could see a column of billowing smoke in the broad daylight. It could attract an enemy to their approximate location. Maybe even a predator with enough braincells to track it. He couldn't imagine that the only creatures they would encounter in this arena were going to be mindless animals. Not by a long shot were they going to burn this place.

Having witnessed what happened to the branch before, it's near immediate decomposition at the hand of the dot-like vermin, it was only natural that he didn't react well to the small girl. He wasn't sure if it was noticed, as he was standing at a fair distance in the shade, but he lurched forward at least two steps when she ran towards the glade. She disappeared and he was still fairly far away. Whatever power she held, it was proving to be very useful. Doan could respect that she was forward enough to demonstrate this, but didn't completely appreciate that she wouldn't give a little warning. Well, actually, if he recalled correctly she said something to the idea of "Something about the grass isn't right, but I can avoid it." Yes, yes that was right. He let it pass. Mainly since she had cleared the glade's grass and snatched the dagger. The small siren's eccentric idea wasn't even going to need a second thought. He glanced at the leader when the buzzing began, straightening himself and posed to move. Intuition told him that danger was imminent. His eyes were then glued to the grass, moving as if strong winds battered them. The problem was, he didn't even feel a breeze.

A hand moved to grab a dagger, as if he expected something he could fight to lurch forward, but it was clear soon enough that there was no chance of him fighting this foe at the current time. Not when the glade itself revealed itself to be a creature and bean it's ascent on them. He didn't need to be told to run, he was already placing his blade back in it's home and ready to run. The siren was at awe at the monstrous creature, so it was by far the best decision for the leader to have grabbed her by the hand and pulled her forward. Doan took to traveling behind the group at first, as closely as he could without stepping on anyone's foot. Just to be sure everyone was going to run fine. Then, he raised his pace. If they were going to run forward for a while, he thought it would make sense to lead them the way he knew was safe. He really doubted the monster would follow them very far, but it was not safe to make assumptions.

ooc: I know we're restarting the thread some time but I wanna post anyways (Also 1OOth post, aw yes!)
                                                              inventory: armor, duel daggers (sheathed)
