This is a one on one between myself and QueenArasene

A girl is on her way to a relatives house in a small plain during the trip the pilot grips his chest. The guy clutches his chest as he tries to make a get a hold of a nearby airport, but was getting no reply as he grunts looking out the window to see a sea of trees in every direction. He looks at the girl. "Hold on." he says as the plank lowers he sees a small opening tilting the plane for it. The plain lowered more as he grips his chest the plain choked and the engine struggled. The pilot aimed the plane in the water. As the plane runs out of gas. The plane hits the water and the pilot hits his head on the wheel of the plain and the cab of the plane fills with water. Someone dives into the water saving the girl pulling her to the shore and as makes sure she is still breathing and quickly moves back to the forest.

Laila woke up and was lost. It wasn't that she didn't know where she was- she was quite definitely here, it was just that she didn't know where everything else was. Even though she would actually have liked to know where everything else was. In particular, she would have had a lot of joy in knowing where the nearest hospital was, or some other sort of medical facility. Although, she reasoned after a few more moments of lying on the damp beach sands, knowing where it was did not help her at all. In fact, it would only make her more miserable to know where it was and not be able to go there. Specifically, she was hurting all over. Her throat was sore, she felt a terrible urge to cough, and the rest of her body seemed to be trying to tell her that she had just been hit by a bus- thrice. From different sides.

All this together- she was lost, she was hurting, and she didn't have anything with her except the clothes she was wearing- made her decide that right here, right now, she wouldn't do anything. She would just lie here until the pain subsided. Or something. Perhaps it would rain? There were clouds somewhere up over her. If it rained, she'd have to go find shelter. Which would be painful. So it would be better if it didn't rain.

Hakurou had spent the day hunting for his meal. He knew the area well he had lived there for some time. Half way through his hunt when he noticed the metal machine fall from the sky. He ran to the area changing from his wolf form to his human form. He didn't wait as soon as the metal machine hit the water he ran to the water.

After saving the girl he moved back to the forest keeping low as he watched her lay on the dirt. He shifted as a howl came from behind him. He could tell how far away it was. He gritted his teeth hoping the pack would keep going he knew all the wild life but if the pack found her she would have no chance. He was the only one able to shape shift. He quickly shifted to his wolf form. He ran up the hill howling back knowing it was the only thing that would keep the wolves away. He caught a small rabbit to take care of his hunger it took a lot of energy to shift. He slowly made his way back down keeping his distance in his wolf form but he looked different with the feathers in his fur and his wolf form was bigger then any other wolf.

There was howling. Oh, she said to herself. I'm in the wilderness now. That means I'll probably get eaten. For a little while longer, she just laid there and let this realization sink in. She was going to be eaten by a wolf. A whole pack of wolves, probably. Would it hurt more than the plane crash had? After an unsuccessful attempt to lift her arm, she decided that it probably wouldn't. Therefore, she was completely fine with lying here until they came for her.

Again, someone howled. This time, it was much closer. Perhaps she should get up after all. Though what did it matter? She wouldn't be getting very far in her condition. Maybe she wouldn't even manage to sit up. How did one sit up again? Oh, right....
Sitting up, and groaning as the movement hurt her abdomen, she looked around. Even looking around was painful, and she considered letting herself drop back again. Was there even any advantage of seeing the wolves coming to eat her? It'd only make it hurt more, probably. Where were the wolves? They'd sounded so close- there! She could see something streaking around in the forest. Running wasn't an option, she knew that. Not only because she was still hurting, but because the wolves were faster than her anyway. She''d read about that in a book somewhere. But why aren't they attacking?

Hakurou yellow eye's watched her as she sat up he knew of a cave where she could stay. as he watched her it looked like she couldn't move. He finally noticed her finally sit up. He wanted to lay down but he didn't want to scare the girl. He moved away to track down another snack as well as check to make sure nothing else was headed. He wasn't sure why he felt so protective.

He never had anyone else around before. It was early in the day and all most all the animals were out he kept his eye's and ears on every animal a few dears. He caught another rabbit to quench his hunger eating a few berries. He looked up as the scent of wolves caught his noise. He snarled knowing what they were after.

The wolves didn't seem very intent on eating her straight away, at least. That was a positive, she supposed. A little more time of pain, hooray! ... ow. Well, at least she maybe should move away from the beach. Or maybe she should stay specifically on the beach, near where the plane had crashed? No, if the wolves were going to get her, it wouldn't matter either way. Then she might as well find shelter from the beginning rain in the forest. If she managed to ignore her smarting limbs long enough, she might even be able to climb a tree and survive the night! That seemed like a smart idea. Any chance for survival probably was. However, that means I need to get up. Hold on..... ow.... ow.... ow.

Okay, now she was standing. Wobbly, perhaps, but she was standing on her own two feet. Legs. Whatever. They hurt. Thinking about it didn't help, though. What had she wanted to do? Oh yes, shelter. The rain was coming in, and she'd be freezing before too long. Looking around, she realized that one, she had nothing with her that might be remotely useful and two, that she had absolutely no idea where to find shelter. The forest, she supposed. It'll give some cover against the rain. And there's trees to climb in case I meet a wolf. If I can climb fast enough. Doubting that last bit with every ounce of her being, she began her first tottering steps toward the forest.

A few wolves pushed there luck as they quickly moved toward the girl quickly as they ran through the forest. Hakurou took off from his meal listening to the wolves as the moved closer and closer to the beach. The wolves began to snarl jumping from the forest line backing the girl toward the water.

Hakurou moved fast he had long legs to help with that. He regretted leaving so far from the girl. Once he got close he saw how close they were to the girl. He quickly moved down the hill biting into the first wolf and tossing it towards the trees it whimpered as it hit the tree. The other wolves turned their attention on him. He snapped his teeth at them he could tear them to peaces. The wolves ran off back into the forest leaving the battered wolf against the trees. He looked back at the girl to see her expression.

Suddenly, going into the forest didn't seem like such a good idea anymore. Mostly because of the wolves. Yeah, the wolves were coming out of the forest and Laila couldn't help but take a step back. They came closer. She'd read somewhere- or heard? she couldn't remember- that wolves would back down if you showed strength, but she'd already backed down. Which meant that going forward would be inviting a fight- which she'd lose- while going backward would invite them to eat her. Neither of which was really a very favorable option. Slowly, she kept retreating. Not that it would matter now- they were right in front of her, and there was nowhere left to go. Turning to the side, she closed her eyes and hunched together.

After a while, she opened her eyes again. There'd been snarls and the snapping of teeth, but she hadn't felt any pain (more than she had already). Was dying that easy, or had the pain from the plane crash just made her not notice how they tore into her? No, that wasn't it. The wolves were backing away, tails between their legs, and then took off. Why? Slowly, she turned around. Oh. A bigger wolf. That.... was ..... obvious. For just a while, she stood there, hands hanging and looking into the wolf's eyes. He had chased the other wolves away, so he was probably wanting to eat her by himself, now. She could understand that: he was even bigger than the pack. Making the comparison was easy, with the one wolf lying battered and still against a tree nearby. Was the forest really that close? Could she still escape this last wolf?

Hakurou could see the the fear in her eye as they met his eye's he let out a huff as he looked her over the wolves never had a chance to even touch her his strength in this form was crazy with how far he soon noticed where the injured wolf lay. He walked away from the girl he walked over to the injured wolf. He lightly clamped his jaw around the neck of the wolf dragging into the forest were he would leave it in the wolf packs territory the wolves would take care of the wolf. He went back towards were he had left the girl laying down in the grass to watch her.

Okay, so she would not manage to run away from this wolf. He made that clear enough by the way he glared at her and huffed. What did he want from her then? Why hadn't he eaten her yet? Why-.... why was he walking away from her if he was going to eat her? That made no sense. This was either some sort of strange and very weird dream, or there was a serious crack in reality. She plopped down on the sand where she stood as he just ignored her, picked up the unconscious- or dead?- wolf that had attacked her earlier and carried him away.

There was a long while of silence. Laila sat in her spot and was not quite sure how she should act. One, she had just almost been eaten. Two, there was a very large wolf out there who had stopped a pack of wolves from eating her. Three, this very same wolf had not eaten her himself. Yet. Four-.... she was still hurting. Five, the big wolf was back. She looked at him quite seriously as he laid down, challenging him to make sense. "Go on, then. Eat me." There. She'd challenged him. It wasn't like he could do anything worse than kill her. At least it'd be better than dying of thirst or starvation.

Hakurou laid there listening to the forest he didn't like how close those wolves had gotten. His ears twitched as a voice he was a little surprised by the voice, but he didn't know much about the girl. He turned his head to the girl as he realized what the girl had said he looked at her stance and the look in her eye's. Her stance showed him how serious she was but her eye's showed him other things. He shifted getting up slowly he walked over to her he paused in front of her. Then he walked away from her after made a few steps from her he looked back at her hoping she would follow him, but if she wouldn't he would have to figure something else out and he continued to watch the girl.

That wolf was looking at her again. Oh great, she had his attention, did she? Well then why wasn't he eating her? Really, it seemed like a stupid idea of her own to think that he could even explain himself. It was a wolf, for Pete's sake! Wolves didn't talk, or think, or..... urgh, come so close you could smell their breath without biting you. This wolf had pretty bad breath and Laila had to turn her head to the side so she wouldn't smell it. Probably all that raw meat, she figured to herself. That must be what's making his breath smell so... rank. A small shudder went through her, but fortunately the wolf didn't stay close very long. Instead, he gently turned and loped a bit toward the forest.

Was he leaving? No, he stayed and looked back. "What do you want from me?" She couldn't quite figure it out. Yes, he probably wanted her to follow him, but was she in any state to do so? A quick check over her overall pain levels told her no. If she was going to move, there would have to be a really good incentive or at least someone to help her. Laila could feel it: she was not getting up on her own.

Hakurou listened to the girl speak to him. He let out a light sigh as he moved into the shadows of the forest once out of line of sight where he changed into his human form feathers in his black hair, as he fixed his clothes. He walked slowly out of the tree line his red eye's on the girl. He walk strong over pausing just a little bit from the girl. He had never talked to a girl or anyone else. He studied her for a bit. "Are you hungry?" he asked her not start or what to say then he though about her last question. "I want nothing I just trying to protect you." He said.

The wolf was apparently not interested in eating her. Not at once, anyway. Actually, as he moved away into the forest, Laila felt a small pang of apprehension- he'd protected her. Was he going to leave her to herself now? Gods knew she couldn't fend for herself in her state, so simply leaving was.... leaving her to die. She probably deserved it, but she wasn't really all that keen on the idea. The past few hours had given her a pretty good idea of just exactly how much she wanted to live. Alone, without anyone to protect her... all she could do was prolong the inevitable. Probably not very long either; those wolves had been very quick to find her. "Her" wolf was gone now, disappeared into the forest, but something else was coming out; a boy? Laila was confused. Why would a boy be here, so soon after the wolves? Why hadn't they attacked him?

"Why?" was the only sensible question she could come up with. He said he wanted to protect her and this made no sense. Why would he want to protect her? All she was was a silly, young girl, half beaten to death from a plane crash, stranded far in the wilderness... "Why would you want to protect me?" she breathed. In fact, she was so confused that she didn't even manage to think about his first question, whether or not she was hungry.
