Hakurou watched the fire crackle as he spit out fish bones his eyes would wander over to Laila as she bit into the. It didn't take much for him to see that she did not quite like it he wondered if it was the bones. He tilted his head lightly at her as he thought about asking her but instead he stayed quiet. He wondered what kind of food she ate where she was from, and how it was fixed. He ate more of his fish and placed it on a rock for him to eat in his wolf form later.

He picked his head up as she asked him a question."I hunt, restock on herbs, water and berries. I will not leave you alone here. I was hoping that you would be able to move around today and help out it would be good to get out and stretch your legs. It is better then being stuck in a cave. Living out here you have to keep yourself busy." He said as he looked at her wondering ifshe would even be able to walk.

Laila listened carefully, keeping her eyes on Hakurou's face while he spoke. It was very useful, because it distracted her from the creeping nausea she felt from having eaten the fish without her body agreeing to being fed fish. If she could, she would have told it to suck it up, but her body had a mind of its own and refused to listen to the helpful advice that her mind offered. So instead, she fiddled with the bowl of berries- carefully, of course- and watched him intensely to distract herself from the complaints that various parts of her were trying to inform her of.

"So we're going out to hunt for berries? That sounds fun, but-... I don't really know anything about berries. Or nature. Not even mushrooms." Learning would be a very quick process, she presumed. You wouldn't stay alive very long if you didn't adapt or failed to tell apart which berries were poisonous and which were not. Laila drew a face, scrunching her nose. "I'm afraid you'll have to help me walk, though."

A smile touched Hakurou's lips when she said they would hunt berries. He shook his head lightly. "I'll show you how to find berries and I'll show you how to tell what ones are good and what ones will make you sick. Hunting is killing animals for food and making clothes." He said as he put his fish now that he ate all the meat off of it. He wondered if she would be able to kill another living thing. He walked back into the cave and grabbed the fur he had been working with since he had been up. He walked back to the Laila and handed it to her. "I made this for you." He said hoping she would like the top he had made for her.

"I'll try to remember it," Laila offered. She hoped she would manage to keep in mind everything he taught her, and another part of her yet hoped much harder that she would never really have to learn it on account of being able to move back to her real home soon. Hope was all she had, however, which meant that she was going to have to do her best to remember everything anyway. And what was to say that it wouldn't help her in the future some day? Exactly.

Shaking her head a little, the girl realized how far she had let herself be torn away by the torrent of thoughts that went through her head. Looking up again, and popping a berry into her mouth from the bowl, she suddenly faced another offering. After setting the small wooden bowl on the ground, she carefully accepted it. The package- well, it was sort of folded together- was very soft and smelled strongly of animal, so she assumed it hadn't been dead for too long. "Wow," she managed to bring forth after a while of stunned silence, "I've never owned a real fur before. Can you help me put it on?" And secretly, she wished for a mirror.

Hakurou's look at her as she said she had never owned any real fur. He wondered if she really liked it as it wasn't as nice as her current shirt he unfolded the fur and slid the fur shirt over her head letting it fall down the rest of the way the fur wasn't as tight on her body as her other shirt. He slid her arm through the big gaping holes on the side. He had done his best. He then helped Laila to her feet. "How does it feel I've never made something for a girl before." He said as he watched how she balanced cause that would give him a better idea on if she could even walk on her own. He wasn't sure if going out was a good idea if she could not walk on her own.

For a small while, Laila was very busy. It turned out- much like it had done the evening before- that putting on or off clothes while every muscle in your body complains about doing it is a lot slower than when they're not. Nevertheless, she ended up dressed in her very new fur vest after only a rather short while, mostly thanks to Hakurou's help. With a rather admiring mind, she ran a hand over its smooth surface, reveling in the sensation that was very much like the bed she'd spent her last night in. Almost a feeling she could get used to, an eerie voice in the back of her mind noted. She shook her head lightly- of course- and looked back at the boy, deciding unanimously that she would stop referring to him as "boy" in her mind and start calling him "friend". It seemed only appropriate.

"I think it fits very well!" Perhaps, if you wanted to be completely honest, it was a little bit loose across... well, everywhere. That didn't exactly hurt, though. The slight bagginess gave the vest an additional sort of comfort that Laila was, for the moment, very glad of. And now, with a row of grimaces and her imagination supplying ominous squeaking-joints-sounds all the way through, she raised herself from the floor- with a little help, of course- and stood upright. Mostly, anyway. "Ow," Laila supplied under her breath, looking away from Hakurou for a moment, after which she took a deep breath and tried to straighten her back. "All right! Let's find berries!"

Hakurou watched her but he wasn't sure how truthful she was bing about the vest but with how loose it was it would help her not be in as much pain. He walked toward the forest leading the way watching her move helping her over rocks and around sharp hills. He would stop and point out animals wonder about a deer, a rabbit, and a few small amphibians. He would also point out plants. "See those leaves you don't want to touch it. That will create itchy spots all over your body so if you brush up on one you must let me know right away. The berries over there are not eatable." He tried to note everything he thought she would need to know. He hoped that she would ask questions. He lead her to a bush of raspberries and he mover over to blackberries seeing some eggs hiding in bush he grabbed them all it looked as though the bird had been killed by an egg. He tucked them under the berries just cause he didn't need them to smash any of the berries. He would keep listen closely to everything around them even though the wolves were more out during the night did not mean that his guard could be down but his guard was never down. When they were done there he wondered if she wanted to farther into the woods. "How are you doing? Do you think you could walk more?" He asked.

The one thing that you couldn't deny about the forest was that it was big, and that it was honestly a little bit scary. Laila certainly wasn't used to being in the forest (growing up in two cities did that to you), and so frequently misstepped- as should be expected from someone who was not only new to walking in forests, but also limping and occasionally wincing after dropping down onto a lower stretch of ground. It hurt- sometimes actually quite a lot- but she tried to be brave, because there was nothing else to do for her than try to walk. The thing that worried her was how Hakurou kept turning his head as if he was searching for someone. What could he be searching for? The only other thing worth listening for in this forest would be the wolves, and everyone involved knew that Laila was definitely not in any shape to attempt to outrun a pack of wolves.

Slightly antsy, she tried to keep an ear on what her companion was saying- this plant was bad for you, that one too.... she looked at them again and noticed almost exactly what she'd seen the first time, which was that they looked like plants. Almost every one of the plants here looked like plants, except the ones which were trees and therefore easier to identify. That is, until they found a bush which even Laila imagined seemed vaguely familiar, and certainly when she got up close, she brightened up- "Raspberries!" Few things are better than a mouthful of fresh raspberries straight from the bush after a long walk, and she enjoyed herself immensely for those few minutes, gathering large handfuls of berries before sliding down to a tree trunk to rest and eat. Her stomach, at least, was happy.

The only bad thing about such moments of happiness was, of course, that they never lasted quite as long as one wanted, and all too soon was Hakurou there again, ready to go on. "Still hurting," she complained gently but nevertheless made a fair attempt at getting up (the tree trunk helped a lot there, too). Looking around, there was nothing to see except forest. "What time is it? And where are we going now?"

Hakurou was not only listening to the wild life but he was listening for more flying metal contraption it might be her best way off the Island but the sky was only filled with the sounds of birds. He watched Laila as she sat beneath a tree eating some raspberries. He listened as she told him she still hurt he changed his mind on the water. He was sure there was enough in the cave for Laila. He could always get water at night and go in his wolf form. He walked over to Laila as she tried to get up finally using the tree to get up and looking around the forest. Just after hearing her ask about the time he shifted looking up to the top of the trees shifting a bit. "It looks like it is around mid day."He said now getting more of an understanding of how Laila moved, but he wondered if she could move better if she didn't hurt and was used to the terrain of the forest. Then there came a sound fro the bushes next to the tree. Hakurou didn't move just stayed calm then a bunny jumped out of the bushes then took off. "We should head back to the cave before it gets dark. I could carry you back if you want." He said unsure how Laila would respond.

Midday. Hmm, that sounded about right. Laila had heard that you could tell the time by where the sun stood- something about north and south and things, but she would be awfully lost if she tried doing it, of course. She didn't even know where north was, for starters. But it was cozily warm and the sun was way up on the sky, so it might just be midday and anyway, what did she care? As long as they got back to the cave before dark, it would probably be fine. Possibly, it might even be fine if they didn't, because Hakurou would pull out some crazy survival trick that'd keep them safe even at night. Maybe something with fire.

The rustling took her by surprise, but Laila's reflexes were far slower than the wolf-boy's- she only looked to the bush to see as the bunny bounded away. If it had been something else- something hostile, she'd be dead for sure. Or at least injured again. More. She shuddered a little at the thought. Suddenly, the forest didn't seem quite as nice as it had before. At the same time.... did she really want to go back to the cave already? It was only midday, after all, and they couldn't have gone all that far from it, could they? Laila did have to admit that her sense of direction, as well as her sense of comparative geography, were absolutely awful so she might very well be wrong, but somehow it seemed a little odd. On the other hand, Hakurou had proved that he knew what he was doing so far, so she wasn't particularly inclined to disbelieve him.

"I can walk. I think. If I can lean on you, maybe?" One thing was getting back to the cave, and being carried by a strange boy was a different thing entirely. Her mother would be horrified and although Laila was honestly tempted (it harmonized with her romantic daydreams of the past), she also didn't want to appear weak. So she put on her brave face and started to hobble in what she hoped was the right direction. It wasn't.

Hakurou hoped that Laila didn't think that he would of let her sit there if it had been anything other then a rabbit. With his senses he could tell what animal were where with in range but it helped staying alive. He thought that they might have more time, but there was a lot more climbing back to the beach and the cave as well as he needed to think about food.

"If you need to lean on me, or let me know if you need help. " He replied as he watched her hobble and he could hear the grunting she might be hiding under her breath as she moved. He shook his head lightly as she moved east."YOu might get to the cave faster if you turn around. Do you want to try bird tonight?" He said to her thinking that she didn't seem to like the fish.

"You might get to the cave faster if you turn around." Laila came to a slow stop and leaned against a tree for a moment. She was really stupid, wasn't she? Well, in her defense- she didn't really know which direction the cave was. She'd just picked one and started out. Obviously, it had been the wrong choice, which meant that she had to cross the small clearing all over again and then- well, then walk all the way back. A small sigh escaped her, which she hoped her companion didn't catch. There was a small relief- he'd offered to let her lean on him. That meant she didn't have to ask, just accept, which was slightly easier. Part of her wondered why she was so averse to looking weak in front of Hakurou, while several others pointed out snarkily that this kind of behavior was silly.

By this time, she'd managed to make it across the clearing. That was a good thing- the longer she moved, the less she hurt. Well, perhaps she didn't hurt less, but at least she got more used to it hurting, so she could ignore part of the pain. Running, however, would be out of the question unless there were wolves again. Laila really hoped there wouldn't be wolves again- one time, in her opinion, was more than enough. "I think I can walk. A bit, at least," she mentioned and continued, making sure to look that Hakurou was following along. No way that she wanted to go anywhere in this forest alone! Hobbling steps took her partway up a hill when he posed another question. Bird? "I like chicken," she mentioned a little thoughtfully, not slowing down to answer (she wasn't particularly fast anyway). "Can you even get chickens in a forest?"

Hakurou listened to her then pushed her sounds to the side and concentrated on the forest it was still early for wolves to be wondering around but he couldn't be sure they knew that this girl was easy pray. He would have to stay by her side tell she was stronger or he found a way to get her back to where she belonged. He glanced back to see her nearly cross the clearing as she made her way in the right direction.

He let her go first and stayed behind her he was unsure she would get up the hill. He would be there in case she started to slip or if a there was a possibility that a wolf might follow them. He was glad that the weather had been nice but he could tell the weather would be changing soon. He wouldn't let it bother him tell the leaves started changing colors. He looked at her as she said that she liked chicken he tilted his head at her back see her not pause to look back at him continuing to move as he looked ahead to the log on the ground. "Quail,or turkey." He replied naming the birds that he knew of there on the island that he could catch easily. "It might have to be quail, anything bigger and we might attract unwanted attention." He said talking about the wolves. He might have to kill another wolf to make something for Laila legs when it got colder at night. He had to pause every now and then as he when he caught up with Laila he didn't want to crowed her. It might also be because he was used to being alone, that or he was listening to the forest after the collapsed tree He knew that a few step farther and the ground would level out and it would be easier on Laila.

No chickens, Laila noted from the response she got. Of course there wouldn't be any chickens. Chickens were like domesticated animals, right? They practically counted as pets and probably wouldn't be found in the wild. Which left the choice between quail and turkey. And she'd only ever heard of turkeys. "What is a quail? Is it like a chicken? Does it taste very different?" That question was probably dumb- either he'd never tried chicken or- actually, was that an or? it probably wasn't so and it most likely did. Everything was strange here, after all. Scrambling the last few feet, Laila leaned against a branch and heaved for breath, having the instant effect of the branch snapping under her weight, sending her face-first into a bush. There wasn't anything particularly special in the bush, which was probably good, but it still hurt and most of all, it surprised her enough to make her cry out before she crashed through the small branches.

"Ow- ow- ow!" she exclaimed as the aftermath of her fall made its way to her brain- the partially healed injuries from before were still mostly whole, thank god, but she had obtained a number of new bruises and scratches over her arms and face. "I'm done. I can't walk further than this, now."

Hakurou had moved to the side no longer behind Laila. He was doing his best not to pass her up her slower pace was actually a challenge for him. He wondered why she hadn't accepted his offer to carry her. He heard her responce among his musing. He face tightened in thought. "Um... Quail is a bird. I'm not sure what chicken is but if it is a bird they should taste the same shouldn't they." He replied not sure why she focused on chicken. He was sure really never had paid much attention to taste. Out here it was eat or be eaten. He would not let Laila be eaten.

He heard Laila's heavy breathing and by the time he looked she was tumbling down the hill and into a bush. He squinted as it looked like that hurt a lot. He slid down after her. He moved over to her as she groaned. "Go ahead and rest we can try again in a few." He said as he helped her out of the bush and let her sit at the bottom of a tree. He knew that waiting a bit would make it dark by the time they got to the cave. He let his scenes focus on the forest around him. His inner wolf longed to come out ever since the rabbit had come out of the bush. He couldn't risk changing in front of Laila. He had told her the wolf was his friend. He wasn't sure how she would react if she knew the truth. Would she push him away... he wondered.
