I'll cut right to the chase. After seeing the mass Guild Announcement that went out, it's nice to know that I'm not alone.
I left Gaia back in 2011, and only came back last month after some encouragement from a friend, and the state of the website does leave me wondering what I came back to.
The economy is in shambles, everything is GCash driven and the Guilds, where I used to spend a majority of my time back then, look exactly the same as they always have.

I recently reopened my Legend of Zelda Guild when I came back, and the fact that after four years I still cannot rearrange the Subforums is a joke.
The idea that I had to set up an archive Subforum and move everything into that, or just outright delete everything in order to rename things and give some sort of order to the presentation is ludicrous.

At most, I only ever see 7-11 thousand people logged in at any one time, and zOMG! is dead.
Just what has Gaia been doing since I left to actively discourage participation?

When I came back, I was hoping Guilds 2.0 had taken off, or that they would have been brought almost on par with the main site, which is also identical to when I left. I for one refuse to spend my actual money on a site that has done nothing to warrant it but instead destroys the natural economy and utilizes "limited time" items to bleed it's users dry as if it were a forum version of an iOS game.

Hello Friend,

I recently got the "itch" to log on to Gaia... I am still not sure if I am happy with my decision. Every time I make an attempt to browse the forums I go through the motions of typing a response, sitting back in my chair, deleting all, and saying never mind.

I agree, everything feels like a dystopian version of the Gaia I used to know and love...well love is a strong word..."like"...lets use "like".

I didn't even think to check my guilds tab until I read the post. I can't promise that I will be a regular, but I will try to make an attempt now and then.

I think the mere fact you made an attempt to re-arrange your folders speaks volumes about you. =) Think of how rewarding it will feel to sit for hours organizing your old nostalgic guild...wait I think walking dead is on!

Peace!

to be honest im really just feeling more and more done with this site. most of the forums i lurk at arent modded very well (looking at you art discussion) i still log on everyday but i find myself posting less and less. i feel like im mostly just logging on out of habit

im at the point where i care as much about the guilds as i do the minigames, not at all. all my favorites are pretty much dead.

and i never buy GC, i would rather give my money to companies that listen to their customers and have fun games that are kept up with.

i feel like all gaia does now is advertise something new then abandon it then advertise a new GS item then advertise something new then abandon it then advertise a bunch of new GS items and thats it

As of today, this is still part of the description for Gaia Online. Definitely needs some changing right there, and this is by far one of the most important pages the website has, and yet...

This post is old, and this guild has been quiet for a while now, but it has to be said, and seeing as how guilds are apparently the only place people can rant about the issues these days without getting frozen, yeah I'm gonna do it. So let's talk.

Rant Below:
Sure, I had this account for only five years, but I also had an older one that I worked hard on from 2007-2010 when it got hacked. I then came to this one and haven't had a problem since, but that is besides the point. I've been on this sight for about 9 years now in all forms of technicality, seeing as how I just returned from my two year hiatus I took a little while after DJ Helsing left. DJ HELSING. The same guy who went to every convention Gaia ever went to, which explains why, when I look at the IRL events now, it is LITERALLY empty from activity, building up internet cobwebs from how abandoned it's been. I used to enjoy the Gaia meet-ups and talking to folks, making new friends, but now there's just no more opportunities to do so, unless we manage it ourselves.

Gold inflation is insane. I logged in with only 50K, but after 6 days of only posting in forums and rating stuff in the art arena, I hit the 100M mark. I can't even believe I had to start that sentence off with "Only 50K". Ugh. I mean, look at my avatar. This cost approximately 1B, but thanks to the new feature where you can buy items in the marketplace with cash, it only cost me about 10 cash I got from our friend, the red TV. ALSO, THE RED TV IS FRICKIN' BUGGED. Half of the time it doesn't have a video for you, so it gives you either 50K, 100K, or 200K. Gee, wonder why hyper inflation is a thing here now. In addition, the other half of the time, the service is just a survey that won't give you anything once you're done. Cash items in the store, though, are so high it would take you months to save up just for something good. It's just too ridiculous at this point in the game.

Guilds will apparently never be changed for the life of it according to the developers, and unless one of us has experience with coding and wants to work for Gaia Online, I guess it'll be goodbye to guilds and hello to the clusterfu*k that is the Forums. I came back mostly to talk to old friends and roleplay, but Barton Town is filled with so much junk and the guilds are so inactive, there's no happy medium. I used to be a part of 40 or so guilds, but over 3/4 of them became completely dead. These were run by active members that invested their money into Gaia and considered it a part of their livelihood for years. I was considered active in my prime here, but these folks beat me beyond compare. On every day, questing all the time, role-playing with literacy on the fly, it was beautiful, and part of the reason why I joined this guild, hoping it could teach me to be more like them as guild captains. However, things didn't turn out as hoped.

zOMG! has unfortunately been abandoned long before my hiatus. At one of the meet-ups I was at DJ Helsing himself said that it would unfortunately just be left as it was while Gaia worked on new projects such as Moga Monsters, Heralds of Chaos, that cat game I never even saw, and the board game I don't even think got greenlighted for funding. They lost track of the online experience and tried to expand into new territory with games that had absolutely nothing to do with the site or even its NPC's. Speaking of which, I have no idea what the heck is happening in the storyline anymore, which is partly my fault because, after the bomber incident, the rest of the plot started to slow down into some airship arc. These characters I used to care about I don't even know anymore.

Getting into programming right now and joining the Gaia staff just to fix things is the only way to go right now, so if you'll excuse me, rant over. Have a nice day. I'm gonna read a book about how to fix these stupid guild issues we keep having because I'm tired of spending three hours just to clear out my guild's old stuff.

Good rant be good. I enjoyed reading it. You are so spot on on everything you're Saiyan. Tho apparently Gaia won't even let a group of outside programmers program a Guilds 2.0 according to one of my friends in this Guild that I trust more than enough to believe her when she says stuff like that.

Yeah I know it's just all bad. Also nice gif. It's very appropriate considering what you used it in response to.
