So now that my tutoring for the violin has been bumped up to three hours a day, my shoulders are absolutely killing me. Anyone have any recommendations like stretches, medicine?

i've been taught this thing called alexander technique which (supposedly) reduces the chance of injury so maybe try that?

personally, i stretch before and after, and try to practice small amounts to prevent further injuring myself but i dunno? this is super uninformative sorry

Find a friend that gives really good shoulder massages. Barring that, I would suggest taking a short pause at least every 25 minutes to stretch. I just do the kind that you would for warming up before sports. Also trying to eliminate tension before you pick your instrument will help a lot. I try to relax both my body and mind, and avoid as much tension as possible in both.

Alexander technique is pretty helpful, but if you don't know it, then just go with stretching whatever feels tight.
