WHAT WAS zOMG!
zOMG! was gaia's free, browser based MMO game. In the game, regular, everyday objects have come to life and have begun attacking! They are extremely aggressive and want all "Naturals," including humans, dead. You must find a way to protect yourself from them, or be killed. Gaians fought back, using mysterious magical rings, which are the only known weapons effective against these creatures.
HISTORY
"THE BATTLE SYSTEM"
zOMG! was first announced in 2004, under a different name, the Battle System. It was supposed to be released then, but it was pushed back so more things could be added in and bugs fixed.
people thought that meant a few months, but it was more like a few years. It ended up being a running joke, where people would use "when the Battle System's ready" the same way we use "When Half-Life 3 comes out" today.
zETAS
On May 14, 2008, Gaia released Beta Testing forms for Gaians to fill out, and a couple months later, some lucky Gaians were chosen to be Beta Testers. There were several waves of these zETA Testers throughout development.
LAUNCH
zOMG! was finally launched October 23, 2008, amid famfare. The first users who were let in were those who had the zOMG! Head Start Ticket item.

 BARTON
One of the main four cities in Gaia, and where you start your journey. Barton is a place characterized by it's history and small town charm. Guarded by Leon and the Barton Regulars, it's one of the safest places you can be.  
FRANK/LABTECH 123
Oh look, it's my favorite NPC Frank is a young man who you first find riding the train to Barton. He is the first person you meet on your zOMG! adventure. His big doe eyes and sweet smile put you at ease. He seems like a kind, personable fellow. But oh,his face seems to have been hurt! What happened? Hope he's okay!
A suspiciously familiar individual shows up later on, a G-Corp Labtech stationed at the Old Aqueduct. He doesn't give his number, but he does lecture you on his work studying the interactions between the Aliens and Animated in the area. He sounds important, and irritable. He sends you off to fetch him some biochips, with promises of a pouch of gold upon your return.
NICOLAE
Nicolae is a simple traveler. Or, that's what he told you, anyway. He's also, a theif, conman, master alchemist, and shopkeeper. He, along with his horse Cappela, run Back Alley Bargains out of his tinker's wagon. He sells legit (or not so legit) items at affordable prices. Just don't tell the guards where he is! IAN
Damian, "Ian" Von Helson. He's a simple shopkeeper, running the Barton Boutique, and no more than that. He's not interested in becoming a hero, and he wouldn't touch the Animated with a ten foot pole. No Siree Bob, he'll leave that stuff to the player.

RINA
A sweet girl who runs the Buttercup Cafe. She has an ongoing rivalry with another girl named Kandi over who is the princess of cuteness. She pays no mind to the animated threat, since she has no interest in it, but she does think the flamingoes are cute.
LEON
Captain of the Guard and Head of the Barton Regulars, Leon is in charge of Barton's first line of defense against the Animated menace. Standing at 6 feet 5 inches and wheighing in at 275 pounds, Leon himself looks imposing and intimidating. But it's okay, he's a really nice guy. You're introduced to him through his mother, a kind lady named Olivia, who is infamous for her cooking. She instructs you to deliver a lunchbox to Leon. When you get to him, he's thrilled, since he actually enjoys her cooking. He hand you something suspiciously similar to a hockey puck, telling you it's a cookie, and he eats one of his own.He then sends you to do various missions around the village greens, trying to decipher the resident lawn gnomes' battle plans.
