Nah, it's the official one. You just don't encounter Ace Trainers until... mid-way into Johto, I'd say.

But I'll definitely show you guys. Thank the stars I can just buy most of the Ace Trainer's things right off the store shelf. But I won't be able to show the Darkrai one in its entirely until the Kon, since I'm borrowing Lunar's white wig for that.
