@berry: awww, sorry to hear that. Hope you, ah, get over your hating girls stage soon. >>; (I swear, sometimes I think guys/girls ARE like two different species, those times when they utterly just. do. not. understand. each other. yeahhhhh.)
@chibi: gosh, no wonder you never updated your livejournal; you do all your ranting here!
And you are cute! ^^ Esp. that pic of you with your brother, you two look adorably alike next to each other~
I do know what you mean by the formalities and the OMG LOOK HOW YOU'VE GROWN thing though. I think it's just a thing for Chinese families. It's impolite if you don't. But it's also good to keep in mind that adults see things in a very different way than we do. I mean, time just sort of holds still for them and the children grow up all around them and they blink and the children are gone and they go whoa hell 20 years passed in a flash. And they don't judge pretty the same way we do (as teenagers, I mean), if you've grown and you dress better and seem more mature, they smile and say, "oh, you've grown into such a pretty young woman!" (And honestly, I don't believe you haven't grown in the past 7 years, but even assuming so they might still remember you as a little kid, just because their sense of time is so different from ours.)
Bah. I'm sorry to hear about your barbie cousin (I have two girl cousins who are pretty barbie-like... I get along fine with them but they are... pretty... shallow >.>) and your dad. Is he just really conservative? I know a lot of Asian parents are like that, but I find if I talk to my parents logically and explain to them all my reasons (if they have good foundations), they will sometimes swallow what they think and actually listen to me. A little bit, anyway. Unless your dad is as unreasonable as Bill O'Reilly. which probably isn't possible. ;p
Oh from everything I gather you go to an all-girls school? I've never been to one and I've always wondered what it's like... x____X Not much help here.
For that matter, what's the diff between mixed sex college and uni and school that Toki's talking about? I'm afraid the US system isn't quite the same...
What's helped me with boredom in class is writing letters in class to random people (my sister, old middle school friends, overseas friends etc) or just writing in my journal, if I can get away with it. TECHNICALLY if I can get away with it and still keep decent grades. but I think I may have mild ADD because I simply cannot stop myself from zoning out in long lectures (particularly if the teacher has a drone-y voice) so I also do that in those cases - when it doesn't matter for me anyway. Yeah. sweatdrop
@mini: Sorry to hear that. Asian parents just have so many expectations!
Have you got any younger siblings though? coz if you do, whether they do worse or better your parents will eventually lighten up because either 1) they see that children are just this way or 2) they've had a kid to fulfill their expectations so they are happy! surprised

@Fwoom: In England, college doesn't mean university like in America. We just call it university. :B And college for us is the school you attend when you're 17-18. It can also be called a sixth form. Capische? What you said about zoning out in lectures is pretty standard for most students, unless they have amazing concentration. I reckon everyone stops paying attention after 35 minutes. Then it's just the task of trying to stop yourself from falling asleep. (-_-') zzz
@yalie: DON'T COME TO ENGLAND! scream I CAN GUARANTEE A HORRIBLE TIME! AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! gonk
No, seriously. England sucks balls. D<
@Chibs: Firstly. *points @ wiim* That's why you should be happy I'm your uncle. xD
-ahem-
Now onto business. I think you probably have changed a bit since 2 years ago, though I haven't noticed that much. The main thing is that you don't seem as naive as you used to be, when you'd believe ANYTHING, no matter how ridicuolous. Funny times. xd You don't have to become heartless though, don't take it too far. sweatdrop -she's become a monster-
Alright, chill out. That is my friend you're talking about. But let's not go into that. I kinda wanna rant on his behalf, he's going through some rough times lol. Sounds like your defence mechanism needs to be toned down a little. You don't want to alienate people now, do you? And this whole swearing at people, it's pretty uncivilised for a young, posh girl like you. I kinda wanna tell you to wash your mouth out with soap. razz *already holding a sponge*
lol, girls schools. I guess it's the same no matter which side you end up on, both sexes get messed up. rolleyes
Well how did I know it was chinese? With all those whities (sorry white people xD) in attendance it could've been a white wedding (lol!). Or one of those biracial marriages. I've actually been to one of those and the groom was an indian. eek *faints*
Don't underestimate my zombie-ness. You only experienced level 1 drowsiness. When it gets more serious, I'll start slurring my words and some things just won't make sense at all. Do you really want that? HUH!? stressed *pokes*

@Toki: You should move to HK then. =P
You? My uncle? Phff. More like my bad influence. stare xd
*sigh* I did use to believe in everything. I remember that time not so long ago when you pretended to be some... Italian boy. Oh wait, Argentinian actually. *shrug* I haven't forgiven you for that yet. stare You scared the living s**t out of my gullible, innocent self. crying
I'm not completely heartless! Lol. I can't be, not when I'm naturally not like that. It's hard fighting it, but generally nowadays I know not to try to do or care too much, because if I do I'll just end up getting hurt. This generally applies to classmates I barely talk to. Normally I'll do anything they tell me to do, etc. Well, it still happens, just on a lesser scale. And I'm fine with it.
Oh. *pout* Sorry then, Ryco. ninja
I do not alienate people! Dude, you really need to meet me real life. This is getting hard to explain over the Internet. rolleyes But trust me, I do not alienate people. I'm ridiculously open on the outside - too much so, perhaps.
Meh. I don't care about having an unclean mouth, so keep yer sponge away. whee I swear a lot when I'm in a crap mood, but besides that it's OK. I'm just your normal kid. Ish. xd
The groom was white. 3nodding
Are you sure you're not mixing that up with you being drunk? xd I can call you right now, but... *sigh* not that you've put me off calling you... I dunno. Unless I'm really high, I don't think I'll pluck up the guts or the... willpower to call you, if that makes sense. There's still a veil of doubt and nerves. Like - awkward moment! - let's avoid it. sweatdrop Bleh. I doubt I'll have any time this weekend. You can always call me if you want. xp
@yalie: I think I'll avoid ranting a lot again, so in summary of what I was going to say!: *salutes* I am letting it out. More so than before anyway. So everyone beware. twisted
@Fwoom: Lol. I rarely post in this thread, actually. I just felt pretty low that day. And I trust my really close friends to read it. I'm just not so used to LJ.
Ken and I do look pretty alike. whee And he used to be so cuuuute. *sigh*
I know what you mean. I just get annoyed when I know it's fake. And I'm not saying this to be petty - I know my own relatives; the first aunts and uncles... and stuff. It's complicated and I don't want to go into details. But yeah, I know it's all a lie. And I don't mind my barbie cousin so much... again, it's a random rant that without context, people won't understand. sweatdrop But thanks. I appreciate it.
Yup, all girls school. I went to a mixed primary school, but my high/secondary school is all girls. mad
And I have a concentration span of a flea when it comes to school. blaugh

@Chibster: I will move to HK! ******** England! biggrin
Actually, HK sounds too stressful. Maybe canada or australia. 3nodding *pokes sin and t0sh*
You know you lurrve my bad influence. cool purrr... :XP:
Hahaha! Yeh! It was great! And I only knew a couple of words of spanish and you STILL believed meh! Wakakakaka!! rofl
Hmm, the way you say you don't alienate people... sounds like you're trying too hard to persuade me. LIES!! pirate And I don't think I really want to meet someone irl who has a potty mouth. rolleyes
So she married a whitey, eh? Figures. ¬_¬ Lol. I do so like to pretend to be racist. I mean I can't really seeing as my best friends are white, but y'know, it's fun to pretend. xD
Maaan, you know I won't call you. I don't even call my parents for crying out loud. Let alone any of my friends. They usually call me complaining abut how I never call them. Then I'm all like, "Well, you know that's just how I am... heh heheh.." sweatdrop *scratches head*
@yalie: Now why would I dislike you? It's been 2 years so any bad blood between us is gone, washed away by time. 3nodding *hugs*
Yeah, what I said about england was no exaggeration. This country is rotten. -sighs- Crime's on the increase, kids are worse than ever *cough* chibi *cough*. The weather's AWFUL. Yeh. Pretty crap place to be right about now. neutral

Erm, sorry. Let me get this clear--
College is some sort of in-between of high school/university? Is that it? I never quite got the first form, second form system either. >>;; Also around here when you're 17-18 you're still in high school. Usually. Unless you skipped a grade or two. soooooo yeah.
@toki: well see the other PRODUCTIVE thing I could be doing would be taking notes! which forces you to at least half pay attention and reinforces the information enough that you can remember it to some degree. but I can never seem to find the will.
and... what!
Quote: Actually, HK sounds too stressful. Maybe canada or australia you consider Hong Kong, you consider Canada, you consider Australia, but you DO NOT CONSIDER THE STATES?
what is wrong with you burning_eyes
@chibi: yeah, no, I totally agree. Despite everything I said before, there are times that obviously... exude an air of fakeness. and you sort of sit and go diandiandian.
Oh my. How do you survive? x___X I think I might die if I went to an all-girls school. I've always been sort of a half-tomboy and... I dunno, it's hard for me just to picture that situation. o_____O;
you know, I revise what I said earlier about boys to ALL CHILDREN. I've noticed this thing where they're small, and they're cute and adorable... up to a certain point, usually the preteen/middle school stage. Then they've grown enough to stop being cute, and it turns into just annoying. And then right about then they hit puberty and stuff and become even worse... --;; etc. but they improve in time. usually.
@mini: oh wow, that is a MASSIVE agegap. and I thought my 7 years was long.
neutral I don't have much to say to that. I can sort of see where your parents are coming from - all parents want their children to succeed, I think. Esp. Asian ones. Not that the wanting makes it any more likely. (lots of times it's counterproductive, if anything.)
good luck, I guess? sweatdrop
@wiim: /sarcasm

Fwoom: The English system goes as follows:
Primary school = 3-5 years till 11 years old. High/secondary school = 11 till 16 years old. College/sixth form = 16 till 18 years old. University = 18 till whatever age your course finishes.
And I must admit, you're the first online American friend I've met that actually seems pro-America. xd
Meh. I've survived - just about. And yeah, I'm a tomboy mostly too. I get on with guys better. rolleyes
For me, babies are adorable but I don't think I'm very comfortable around them. I do well with them, but I think to have to look after their every need and take completely responsibility for them - it does worry me a bit. Toddlers are irritating but adorable. I prefer children aged between six and ten. The guys, mostly. The girls are so... not shallow, but they don't much sense and are a bit pompous, whereas the guys will talk to me more and be all rough and tough, and I love the guys. When I teach at Chinese school I find it easier to relate to the boys.
Yeah, my parents always want the best for me - and in doing that they often don't understand I have an opinion of my own, that I want to live a life I've chosen for myself and learn from my mistakes.
Thanks. xd
@wiim: *pat pat* OK. I get it. Don't cry. ninja
@Mini: If Toki ever goes there, kill him on sight, will you? That'll show him that he should never betray his country! twisted ninja
Toki: You make me sound like a gangster with this new nickname. twisted
HK is waaay too stressful and the apartments are as small as cupboards. I could never live like that, even with such an amazing transport system. whee
You're mean. stare And I am not lying! I have no incentive to lie to you, unlike yourself! mad
You do realise I don't exactly want to meet a guy like you either? rolleyes Phfff.
Peh. We all talk about racial stuff. Not that we're really racist, but being different coloured in this country sort of makes it something you talk about to other fellows.
Hahahaha, I know you won't call me, and that's fine. I wasn't expecting it. Niph called me last night, then my RL friend called me, so that was confusing, two at the same time AGAIN. xd We talked for like... an hour, methinks. Very random, rather amusing.
And oi! scream Watch what you're saying! I am one of the poshest, most cultured teenagers you'll ever meet in Britain! Unlike you! stare Yalie, if you ever come, do pop round to mine. 4laugh I agree with Toki it's pretty bad over here in some areas... so it'd be better to stick with people you know. But in big places, say London, it's all good.

So you guys go by ages? It just really confuses me without the grades, because we go:
Kindergarten (little kids) 1st -> 5th grade (primary school) 6th -> 8th grade (middle scool) 9th -> 12th grade (high school)
and then you go off to college/uni/whatever. or not. if you're in the poor working class. >>; usually first graders are about 5 years old, so by 12th grade you're 17-18ish.
yeah, I wasn't really referring to babies. I see them and go aww! and linger for awhile and treat them as though they're a new commodity, then wander off.
little girls are harder to deal with than little boys. esp. the ones that start getting all into pop culture at a young age (I can't follow that at all) and actually in general I find them harder to read. a little boy's thought processes are usually really easy to follow. xD
I'm not pro-my-country's-current-politics. In fact, I live in California, and we are pretty vehemently anti-Bush here. Honestly, if McCain wins I think I will froth at the mouth and die. >.> /crosses fingers &hopes for the best
but just in terms of a place as a whole, CA's one of the nicest states around IMO. and the States in general are a pretty nice place to live (and by this I mean the coasts and not the middle of America)...
of course, if McCain does win, you wouldn't want to move here because the whole country's going to get fscked over pretty fast. >.>

@Fwoom: Are you at uni then? If you're being lectured then that's what I'm guessing... And in that case, how can you NOT make notes? Surely you'll just be so lost when it comes to revision?
I didn't consider the states cos I don't wanna get shot up like those guys at Virginia Tech. There. I said it. America's gun laws suck balls. talk2hand
And I can't believe the shooter was an asian too, gives us all a bad name. -__-''
@Chibsta: If you hadn't noticed, I don't have the least bit of feeling for this horrid rock I'm stuck on, so betraying it would be the logical thing to do. 8] *waiting for china to take over the world*
You're not a gangster and never will be. If you do, I'll eat my hat.
I discussed living in HK with Ryco, he says everyone over there is so stressed and unhappy, sounds quite sad. His own family is really messed up even though they don't have any financial hardship and live in comfort. The worst thing Ryco told me was that his dad accused him of "causing the death of his grandmother" over the summer. I don't understand how unpleasant a person would have to be to even THINK of accusing someone, let alone your own son, of causing the death of a relative. I couldn't believe it. o_______o'
That's exactly what a liar would say! O: The plot thickens...
Your mouth says you don't wanna meet me, but your eyes say different. cool *looks at uploaded pic*
Y'know, I wouldn't even bother half-apologising for my light racism if Leonaenae hadn't joined recently. But this whole rule of accepting people from other races in the guild... where's the exclusivity? xD
LAWL. Is it really a good thing to be one of the "poshest" teenagers in Britain? Makes you sound kinda stuck up. xP And London is definitely not "all good". I don't think you should be giving advice about the south when you don't even live here. I was born in London, Peckham to be precise. And you do NOT wanna go to Peckham. ninja it was where Only Fools and Horses was shot
