hdc169 [Ren The Ryoko] So...Lyra = Obsessed with people dating. XDDD Dawn seemed to have a much more negative reaction to Corey than Ash. tru dat, lol, maybe Lyra will b key to nintendo finally showing which ship they follow in the anime, cuz i no that jessie and james get married in the manga
I dont think the anime will ever really get canon. We may eventually get some Contestshipping confirmation, but that's it. I dont see Ash ever ending up with anyone.

Oh my God...Pokemon 'n' me go way back. I was a shipper from the very beginning, too.
Pokeshipping Then: My first ever ship! These two seemed absolutely perfect for each other. At the time, pretty much everyone was a Pokeshipper or a Palletshipper. At least, that's how it seemed to my 14-year-old eyes. It was actually "Misty's Song" that converted me, and I began writing fanfics about the pair that I never actually published. Now: This pairing will always hold a special place in my heart, but I just can't see it happening in canon. Actually, I can't see any pairing happening in canon. I don't think anyone is going to get together with anyone else. Pokemon isn't a romance. I do like the idea of them getting together for a one-night stand, when they're much older, of course.
Palletshipping Then: The bane of my existence! Palletshippers were my enemies! I tried in vain to ignore all the hints, telling myself that all characters were "straight until proven gay," because weren't the Japanese all cool with homosexuality? Surely they'd tell us if these two loved each other! But deep down, I knew this ship was every bit as valid as Pokeshipping. Now: ADORABLE. I've really come to appreciate this pairing. I think it's cool that these two don't bicker anymore. I came to really like Gary a lot from "A Tents Situation" on, and started being interested in them around the time that Misty left. I'm even more into GreenxRed, but that's another story...
GreenxRed I started using the "x" system, or the Japanese "smush their names together" system after I got sick of trying to remember the zillions of ship names out there. Anyway, I'm more into the game these days than the anime, and this is kind of a poignant pairing for me. During the days of GSC and DPPl, Red has retreated to Mt. Silver to train and take on challengers. I imagine that over the years, he becomes even more reclusive, to the point that he stops coming home. Green sets out to find him, and when he does, he finds that Red is lonely, but afraid to return to human life after such a long time. Green manages to convince him to come back, but he's disturbed by how much Red has changed. I suppose there needs to be a traumatic event in there somewhere, but maybe not. I haven't started writing it or anything.
Rocketshipping Then: I thought the division between "Rocketshipping" and "Queershipping" was dumb. I felt like Jessie and James were neither a princess and her knight in shining armor, or a Big Nurse-type woman and a crossdressing girly-man. I suppose I was a little more romantic back then than now...Okay, way romantic. But before I knew it, I was more obsessed with this pairing than Pokeshipping. Now: I see Jessie and James as soulmates. It doesn't matter if they're friends or lovers. I see them as caring for each other (and Meowth) more than any other two non-related characters in the series. I see them as neither needing or wanting to get married. They don't want to be like "every other couple," and they fight against labeled. They strive to retain their identities as proud members of Team Rocket, and as a trio unlike any other. I see them as never "officially" being a couple, but ending up being nearly exclusive to each other anyway.
Neoshipping. Then: At some point I decided that no one under 16 should be in a relationship. I think I was butthurt about not having a boyfriend at 15. :p Anyway, aside from Jessie and James, Butch and Cassidy were the only characters I could put as older than that. So I began to ship these two without really being into it. Now: I've completely lost interest in this ship, and in the characters as well. It's funny to see sparks fly between Jessie and Cassidy, but frankly I'd sooner ship them as a couple than Butch and Cassidy.
Gymshipping Then: I saw this as another rival to Pokeshipping, but not a very formidable one. Brock, who would hit on any and every female who walked by, showed absolutely no interest in Misty. Misty's pulling Brock away by the ear could be attributed to jealousy, but it would be unrequited all the same. Now: I think this is actually a bit more realistic than Pokeshipping. Ash will continue to be oblivious of anyone interested in him. I think Misty and Brock just needed to grow up a bit more. Actually, I think Brock still needs to grow up, and stop acting so desperate. Perhaps once he decides it's time to settle down, this could happen.
Orangeshipping Then: Another bane of my existence, this time because I wanted Tracey for myself. I sort of kind of liked the idea of them together, though, and insisted Misty was the only girl I'd "trust" with Tracey. Still, I preferred her with Ash or maybe Brock. Now: I still kind of feel the way I did, actually. But I've moved on to other men in Pokemon, so I'd allow them to end up together in my stories. I still feel like Misty's the only girl I'd like to pair him up with, though.
Apprenticeshipping Then: I hated this ship more than any other. One of it, of course, was the obvious, "I want Tracey for myself, and if he's gay, how am I going to have him?" The other part was that I saw Tracey as the same age as myself, so that would make it ***** ephebophilia, technically, but I didn't know that word back then. I thought it was disgusting that people would support such a ship. Now: I don't hate it anymore. The reason? Well, I still see Tracey as the same age as me, since age in Pokemon is rather ambiguous. It's very possible that Tracey is an adult. I'm still not really into it, though, because I don't find Prof. Oak all that attractive.
Egoshipping Then: I saw this as a valid alternative to Pokeshipping or Palletshipping. Everybody wins! I mean, nobody really saw Ash as attractive, right?...Yeah, that was mean. But I kind of felt that way. Now: I still kind of like this. I like the idea of them deciding to share Ash, or them both confessing their love for him, only to have him turn them both down. XD As time goes on, they become friends and eventually, more than that. Even after they're together, they like to talk about how much they love and miss Ash.
Thirdwheelshipping Then: Just another ship involving Tracey. Now: I love this. I like the idea of Tracey having come to terms long ago with the fact that he's gay. He did have a crush on Prof. Oak, but now he sees him more as a father figure. One day, Brock comes out to him--he's afraid to tell anyone else, since they only know him as being obsessed with women and would question his sincerity. He explains that he was afraid to be honest with himself. Tracey, being the kind, gentle soul he is, empathizes with him and promise not to tell anyone until Brock says it's okay. Stuff happens, and they end up together.
Finally, I like so many different pairings that I couldn't possibly pic a real favorite. But my absolute favorite male in Pokemon right now is Lucian. He is such a sweetie, he loves to read, and he's incredibly good-looking! For purely aesthetic purposes, I will say my favorite pairing is
WillxLucian.
Both Psychic trainers, both extremely intelligent, both drop-dead gorgeous. I'd tell you some other things I've thought up for this pairing, but that would go against Gaia's PG-13 rule.
Well, that's it! I hope we all get along well!
