Summaries of episodes

Episode 40 in Shippuden

Naruto continues to transform into the 9 tails as his anger grows towards Orochimaru.

Episode 41 - Shippuden

As Naruto continues to transform into his beast mode, he broods over the fact that he cannot save Sasuke, thus increasing his beast power.

Episode 42 - Shippuden

Naruto and Orochimaru fight while Yamato, Kabuto, Sakura, and Sai all watch the horror unfold.

Episode 43 - Shippuden

As Sakura sees Naruto in his beast form, she feels guilty over asking him to save Sasuke as Naruto has changed into a beast to fulfill his promise. Meanwhile, Sai and Orochimaru have words over what Danzo has ordered Sai to do.

Episode 44 - Shippuden

Sai has betrayed the leaf village by wandering off with Orochimaru.

Episode 45 - Shippuden

As team Kakashi follows Orochimaru, Kabuto creates a fake corpse in order to lose team Kakashi's trail.

Episode 46 - Shippuden

Yamato's clone continues to follow Orochimaru while team Kakashi relaxes for a bit. Yamato tells Naruto who really hurt Sakura and therefore Naruto realizes that he was the one who destroyed the bridge and hurt Jiraya during training using the fox spirit. As some encouraging words, Yamato claims that Naruto is strong enough on his own. Sakura snoops into Sai's picture book and finds out more on why Sai has no emotions. It is not revealed to us why Sai has no emotions though as of yet,

Episode 47 - Shippuden

Sai is unwelcomed by Sasuke, though Sai tells Sasuke about how he worked with Sakura and Naruto. Meanwhile team Kakashi has found Orochimaru's hideout thanks to the seeds that Yamato had Sai eat when at the hot springs a few episodes back.

Episode 48 - Shippuden

After finding Sai, an interrogation begins. Naruto tells Sai that even if Sasuke hates his guts, that won't stop Naruto from saving him because thats how bonds are.

Episode 49 - Shippuden

The search for Sasuke Uchiha begins in Orochimaru's hideout. Countless rooms and only one holds the prize.

Episode 50- Shippuden

The search continues until Sai finds Sasuke, but Yamato discovers that Sasuke is on Sai's Bingo book.

Episode 51 - Shippuden

After the rest of Team Kakashi finds sasuke, it is revealed by Sasuke that he severed the bonds he once had with the Leaf village and now holds the bond of hatred.

Episode 52 - Shippuden

Sasuke enters Naruto's subconscious and discovers the 9 tailed fox, where the 9 tails warns Sasuke not to kill Naruto lest he regret it.

Episode 53 - Shippuden

Sasuke leaves with orochimaru to somewhere else and Naruto's team has to report to the Hokage that their mission to bring back the spy was a failure. And thus, Naruto's team was sent on a new mission.

Episode 54 - Shippuden

Sai learns an important lesson about nicknames.
