Representatives from the Hoenn government have requested Team Snagem's assistance in investigating and dismantling an underground gang they believe to be trading in Shadow Pokemon. The gang seems particularly active in Mauville City, numerous Shadow Pokemon spotted participating in battles here. The both city and region officials fear the spread of the Shadow virus in such a populous area should the city's immunizer system fail.

The only information that has been provided, outside of the general location of said gang, is that they have no reason to believe the Shadow Pokemon are being brought in from outside (i.e. they are home 'grown'), the gang members wear no identifiable symbols, and that they have somehow managed to avoid the city's Shadow Pokemon detection systems until battles have already been underway.

Sub has already arrived at Mauville City and awaits the rest of his team, GRAY informing them all to meet up at Team Snagem's office in the city. There they would find Sub seated behind the front desk, shooting the breeze with the team's own public relations expert and representative, Laverne. It had been a long while since he had seen her in person so in spite of why he was here it was still nice to have a chance to say hello. Her Porygon seemed pretty happy to see Sub as well, the digital creature zipping through the air back and forth, the Porygon didn't get to interact with people as much as he it used to back at Snag-A-Cup. Her Vivillon however was asleep, perched in the corner on a potted Sitrus Berry tree.

after being teleported from the HQ, Deo blinks twice and looks around, seeing that Sub is waiting and he is awaiting friends. "Reporting as ordered!" Deo said with a tone in his voice that was drilled into him from early days at a police boot camp where he learned respect and discipline from his drill sergeants and the officers there.

Hopefully, this mission wouldn't require any sort of spearhead into anything. With one Articuno hybrid still not 100% from the absolute beating he took in the Galar region, and another one that went recent drastic changes and having to oddly reintroduce herself to her own Pokemon, it only left Tristen, the Manetric teenager, to take up the helm to work whatever mission the Hoenn authorities had for them. It was probably just as well, too. Tristen had been working on trying to get Shadow Pokemon purified as best as he could and perhaps the most qualified to deal with it amongst many in the team, let alone if push came to shove actually fight a Shadow Pokemon threat.

Tristen would find his way to the office in Mauville City to meet with Sub, wondering what exactly was going to transpire.

"I don't know about this," William uttered as Claydol delivered him to the Snagem office in Mauville City. None of his pokemon had much training and none had been infected yet. He tried to reach out to the other Snagems he was aware of - Terashi and Keiko were completely AWOL, and Absinthe vehemently refused to have anything to do with anything going on in Hoenn.

With a sigh, he shrugged off the Teleport jetlag and stood upright, Hydrangea the Gossifleur in his arms. "William Dragonthorn reporting for duty, sir!" he said loudly, saluting Sub.

"It still feels weird having an official office here," Cera remarked to herself, getting to the office in Mauville easily enough. A few Pokeballs floated alongside her and would be batted slightly by her scarf in flight, though one of them had been reappropriated to hold a few items just in case. She didn't waste much time in getting inside, noticing Sub and Laverne as soon as she did.

"So you wanted us to come here? Are we about to have a meeting, some words about motivation and how there's no I in team?" She quipped only seconds later.

Entering the building, Darts' ephemeral Giratina wings swoop and vanish from his back like smoke after his long flight over from the headquarters. He hadn't been on a mission in a long while, not since getting back from the Dragon Clan and surprising the rest of the team during some kerfluffle with the Ultra Beasts.

He shrugs at Laverne and Sub as he approaches, the former barista a welcome sight after not seeing them for a long while since Kalos. "What, did the budget run out? Are we not getting gold statues for saving this region or...?"

"Mission?!" "Yep, you'll be going in my place this time." "B-But I just joined!" Kazu said as Leon was setting up Kazu's gear. "Why can't you go?" "Because I'm lazy." Leon said very blatantly. Kazu sighed as Leon suddenly strapped a SNAG machine to Kazu's arm. Then packed a board for him in his bag. Claydol then appeared out of nowhere as he grabbed onto Kazu. "W-What the-" "Have fun on your first day!" Leon said as he waved good-bye to him as he was suddenlyt teleported to Mauville City.

Kazu looked around so confused. He was suddenly sent to a whole entire new place. He walked around as he made his way to Team Snagem's office. "...I thought these guys were just a random group...They look pretty official..." Kazu said as he made his way to the main room. As he entered, he looked around seeing new faces he's never seen before. Except for Sub.

Brian arrived in Mauville with a slight frown. It had been nearly four years since he'd been home, the last time directly after Lily's funeral. He'd kept in touch with his parents, of course, but he hadn't actually seen them in person during that time period. They understood, knowing how close he and Lily had been. The whole incident that had caused him to leave Hoenn had never been disclosed to Sub or any of the other Snagems, so he had no idea how much any of them knew about his past. That being said, while he was a little nervous about being back in Hoenn, he was honestly glad to be back home, even if it was for a short time. "Sub, would it be alright if I made a pit stop at some point?" he asked, walking into the Snagem office. "I need to--"

He broke off at the sound of a voice he'd not heard before, and looked to see a young boy, no older than twelve or thirteen, if his height was anything to go by, that he'd not seen before. Did they get a new member between the last mission and now? It would make sense, seeing as the boy seemed quite confused by everything going on. "Are ye new?" he asked, walking toward the boy. "I haven't seen ye before."

Sub was a little startled by Deo and William's eagerness for the job at hand, looking between the two back and forth a few times before letting out a sigh and turning his attention to Cera. "Funny, did Sol tell you that one?" Sub smirked as he replied to the Mew. He then leaned back and looked over at the Kazu, the boy surprised by their trappings. "Nice, isn't it? I guess it's not good enough for some people though. Hello, Darts."

Laverne was excited to see a few familiar faces, waving at the Snagems as they entered and taking a particular interest in Tristen. "Oh mon coeur! You've gotten so big! And evolved!" Laverne exclaimed as she ran over to Tristen and greeted him with a kiss on both cheeks, a common greeting in Kalos though Tristen likely remembered that. "And Darts! Still as vibrant as a Pyroar I see!" She said, greeting Darts with a wave.

Porygon would be just excited as its trainer as it zipped from Snagem to Snagem, greeting them with a 'poryyy' as it stopped in front of them.

Mauville City went on and on and on. And so too did the arcades and coverings over the main streets.

It was the closest thing to Flower City Monique had yet seen, except it felt real and lively, not a phony recreation of bygone days. It was dizzying.

At last, the Zoroark girl found her destination, tucked away in an unassuming complex of retail and offices past such enticing businesses as Reveal Glass Distributors of Hoenn, Mid-Hoenn Family Dentistry, and some group of bankruptcy attorneys.

There it was on the door: Team Snagem, Chartered 2004. It seemed a bit surreal that Snagem had its own office here like it was another anonymous company. Several people were already here, including Sub, some other assistant in Snagem-branded apparel, and...

What was that? Some blocky-looking Pokémon was zipping about and buzzed Monique in the face.

"H...hi there!" It was adorable but mildly unsettling, clearly looking artificial. It must have come from an era of decent but not quite modern technology. Marowak was surprised, twirling her baton, whose flames seemed to captivate the guest.

"Sheriff Monique, at your service." She crossed her arms and sat back against the wall, waiting for some direction. Which, hopefully, would come with a map.

Crystal would finally arrive in Mauville City, showing up on a surfboard made of golden light. The claws on her paws began to glow pink and dug into said surfboard when she stopped, shattering it and landing onto the ground. "Well, that was uneventful, thankfully. Now, where is that... Ah." She pulled out her Snag Machine from the bag under her shawl, trying to pull it on her hand as she walked into the building. "Sorry I'm late, had to look up where this place was again. Unjumbling memories would have taken longer. Also had to find this thing, which... I might need a bigger one now. I really didn't think my hand size changed that much." Finally giving up, she pulled the glove off of her hand, sighing. "We don't happen to have any larger ones here, do we? Were my hands really that small before?" Her focus was on the glove, staring in confusion and slight amazement.

"Would you believe Ammy had the idea?" Cera remarked, not missing a beat with her usual sass. "Besides, he could crack the joke himself-"

Almost as if on cue, the distant sound of a door would open followed by feet tapping and clicking along the floor before Sol showed himself. "Laverne, I'm about to get an order put in, how's the paper situation on the printer? ...oh." He'd clear his throat and put that topic on hold for a moment. "Right, we requested a small squad to report here."

Cera, on the other hand, suddenly looked like a Deerling caught in headlights before getting some semblance of her composure back. "O-oh. He is the joke. Nevermind."

Reno would quietly stroll in behind Crystal, eyeing up the gathered group members. Seemed like they had quite the eclectic collection this time. Nodding towards Laverne as he entered, Reno would take position with a Pokeball already drawn. "So we have any extra intelligence on who exactly has decided eco-terrorism is a great idea?" He asked, carefully tossing the ball up and down as he waited for an answer.

"Good to see you again Laverne," Darts acknowledges, with a nod and a smile. Laverne made the best coffee this side of anywhere, and while the hybrid's coffee days lie behind him there was still an agonizing soul ache of a pit that wanted to get a cuppa of the stuff just for old time's sake.

He turns to Sub, assuming that was a 'no' on the statues thing. "Shadow Pokemon huh? That's a reminder of a grim time Hoenn didn't need."

"Well now that we are all here..." Sub said as he stood up from his chair and walked around to the other side of the desk. "Let's get to business. As you all saw on your SNAGs this is a job we've received from the Hoenn government themselves, I'm told it was handed down from the Minister of Pokemon Affairs themself, I'll save you the politics but it's a pretty powerful position. Either way our goal today is fairly simple; find this gang and snag as many Shadow Pokemon as we can, take them off the streets and market. As you can imagine having so many crawling around in a bustling and tightly packed city like Mauville is a recipe for disaster. Thankfully as part of its renovations post-war Mauville was equipped with a city wide immunizer by Devon Corp., however technology can fail, immunizer technology isn't perfect." The man explained.

"Now for those of you unfamiliar with Shadow Pokemon let me warn you that they are very powerful creatures, and outside of the range of an immunizer they can infect other Pokemon with the Shadow virus, thus creating more Shadow Pokemon. You must show them no mercy, do not hesitate when you are confronted with one. And most importantly do not let it escape. Any Shadow Pokemon we stumble upon here must be snagged. I don't care if you think the trainer cares about them, we have been sanctioned by the region of Hoenn its self to take these Pokemon away and purify them of their infection, this is what we do." He stressed for the newbies and the greater group.

"No, not much else." Sub responded to Reno. "The city police have very few leads, all they can figure is that they got someone either in a higher position in the city or someone who has access to information on the city's security systems. How else are they evading detection so thoroughly? But that's all just theory crafting so that's why we're here. To do the dirty work."

With that said Sub prepared to move out as he slung his backpack over his shoulder. "We'll break up into two groups, one will go east and the other west as we sweep the city and meet together at the northern exit of the city to trade information. There is no way we can poke around without people identifying us so if there are any members of this gang about they'll certainly know they are being hunted but perhaps that'll work to our advantage to flush them out. Inquire with the shops and citizens on suspicious activity. See someone itching for battles with high stakes? Question them. Leave no stone unturned. Reno will lead a group west and Crystal leading one east. If anyone can keep tabs on their teammates in a packed city like this it's our Psychics. I'll head to the courtyard myself and see if anything is off kilter there, though I have my doubts I'll find much in the most open and obvious area of the city. Will give me an opportunity to inquire at the Pokemon Center though."

With that said he gave Laverne a nod and a smile as he headed for the exit. "Split yourselves up and head out. And remember, if you see a Shadow Pokemon, you snag it. No questions, no second guesses." With that said Sub was out the door.

The east side of Mauville City has such places as, listed from south to north:

Mauville Food Court, where you have to battle for your meals.
Song and Sword Move Academy, where opera and fencing meet.
Pledge Move Dojo, expect a hazing prior to entry.
