Wat Ever Happened To EMO?

i miss the good old bands like the promise ring and rites of spring wat ever happend to the true sound of emo i understand that silverstien is helping to keep it with songs like hear me out and red light pledge but everyone considers screamo to be emo....i miss u emo music....

Emo is still around. You know Circle Takes the Square, Ampere, Daitro, etc.

Same thing that happens to any music genre when it gets flooded by people, all the fake bands and bands everyone likes are labeled as emo. Where as the real emo bands in the end just decide "******** it" and stop performing, same thing happened to punk a few years back, same thing is happening to metal now.

Not really a used fan myself, but I like Killswitch, seeing as its real emo not this jumped up power pop stuff that people try to pass off as emo. smile

They are, I was there, you weren't. Then you 'emo' kids changed what emo means because it wasn't underground enough, I have a mountain of proof and testimonials from people who were there... KSE are emotive hardcore. End of discussion... next.

so your saying kse is emocore? and the used is more of a skater emo/screamo stuff its not bad but i like bands like finch the promise ring funeral for a friend silverstien and aiden altho if aiden isnt emo could someone explain wat the are and ive havent heard of those few emo bands if someone could make a list so i can check em out plz thx

KSE isn't 'Emocore'... they are Emotive Hardcore, look up all the music press before the turn of the millennium, KSE, Hatebreed etc... were all listed as being Emotive Hardcore... not just by the press, but by themselves and their record companies and the stockists. Or are you saying all these people that are infinitely more qualified to talk about music then you are wrong?

Emo = Emotive Hardcore not 'Emocore' whatever the ******** that is.

As for The Used, they are Power Pop, like Aiden, Finch and MCR. FFaF and Silverstein are real Emotive Hardcore, like KSE and Hatebreed, with the exception that FFaF and Silverstein can't seem to make their point without coming across as whiny rather then commanding.

Yeah, but you don't take the 'hard' out of hardcore and the 'nk' out of punk to make hardpu. So why do it for emotive hardcore... its stupid and confusing and lazy.
