Zomg i have to get surgery=(

yea i have braces and they want me to get surgery becuse i have a like 4 teeth in my jaw does anyone have any ways i can get over the fear ??? im very scared xp and dont want to get it done and if something goes wrong i could have to eat thought a tube in my belly

When I had braces (When I was 18 believe it or not) I had to have oral surgery to remove 8 teeth, 4 cuspids and 4 wisdom. I was scared as hell. The only way I would do it was if I could be totally knocked out, it's not the conventional way but I ended up getting what I wanted.

It took me 2 months to recover becuase I had dry socket in 3/8 teeth with a nasty infection, I cried a lot probably more then I should have but in the proccess I was also having my braces tighten to close up the gaps.

So yeah, everyones experience is diffrent. I've had a few other general surguries; Knee/c-section and they weren't nearly as bad so iti just depends I suppose.

When I was like 4 or so I had my tonsils taken out. I don't remember much of it though. =/

I have yet to have surgery but if I ever have to I'll probably be pretty darn scared. I've had four teeth pulled out at once before but I didn't have to be knocked out for that.

I believe you need the surgery for Wisdom teeth? I never had them pulled yet. And if it is for something else I don't know what it is.

You'll be fine. You'll not have to eat food through your veins/to your stomach, you'll just need to eat soft foods which require no chewing.

I had my wisdom teeth taken out and I didn't need surgery for it, but yeah soft foods for sure and no rice!

Anyways, yeah.
Surgery sucks.
I broke my arm in the stupidest way when I was 5 and
had to get surgery.
2 nights in the hospital, few weeks of recovery.
It wasn't as bad as it seemed, but yeah..

nope they are in the front in the front of my mouth gonk so they could cut like nerves and stuuf beause they need to go from behind my front teeth

I absolutely refused to get braces because they had to remove teeth. Now I wish my teeth were straighter.

I had some teeth taken out -- three of them.

It's really not so bad. The only real bad part is when they stick the IV in your arm. And, if they give you Vicodin, you can either tough it out through the pain (I did -- it's not that bad after a day or so, and I hate taking pills) or take the pills. Advil will take the edge off, and it'll be good for the swelling.

Really, getting your teeth removed is very routine. Your jaw will be sore for a while from having it open so wide so long, and soft foods will be your friend. There's nothing to be afraid of. Relax and breathe deep. The IV they give you to knock you out only takes a few seconds to work.

edit: and about eating through a tube in your belly, my father had to do it when he had cancer. It's not so bad. He got ensure and a funnel, and the only thing he had to be careful of was getting air bubbles in it, and he would burp a bunch. The only extremely non-fun part is when they took the intravenous out, just by yanking on it. It has a ball on the end so it doesn't fall out, and now my father has two bellybuttons. xD
