The soft glow of the lamplight was the sole source of illumination in the entire house. Everyone had always spoken of the midnight oil, burning the midnight oil. The midnight oil was of no use now. It was three in the morning, and the light was flickering into its last few seconds of existence. On an off, on, off, off, off. Darkness. You idiot, you shouldn’t be up this late, anyway, and what do you think you’re doing, sitting here like this? It’s dark in here!
On.
See? I told you it would come back.
Off.
You’re wasting valuable time, you know. You shouldn’t be. Go. Go sleep, or something.
No.
Do it!
No.
Yes!
“NO!”
Another groan from the bedroom. “Honey?”
“I know, I know.” The writer mumbled, rubbing furiously at her eyes. “Go to bed.”
Popped in my head on the way to dinner. I'll have to finish this later. It's a continuation of my Confessions, in case anyone didn't know. This scene picks up where we last left off.
