Here's an actual submission, the previous was just to correct the first post, lol:
Dia de los Muertos is translated as Day of the Dead. Though the name may sound gruesome, its far from a mourning or utterly low event. In fact it a day to celebrate life. It usually runs multiple days but among it all the most popular days are October 31st to November 2nd. Sometimes they last longer though since it does vary from community and culture.
It is filled with multiple things. Two things makes it most distinct. The first is all the dances and such. Lots of ritualistic performances are done plus there are decorations galore with skulls (usually made out of a sugary substance). Music plays and everyone enjoys themselves as, previously stated, they enjoy life.
The other distinct thing is the altars you may have seen or heard of. Below are two pictures of altars.

Altars are made as a shrine to an individual (or in some cases individual with the same cause i.e. military men, cops, firemen, etc.). The altar is decorated with the usual affair previously mentioned but also lots of candles as well as things the person(s) liked. The candle to guide their soul to their old house and they favorite stuff so that they too can remember and enjoy life, especially their own. Their favorite food, sports, and more can be seen on the altar.
And thus is Dia de Los Muertos.
My submission, a short article. Enjoy.
