Sorry if there is a thread about this already.... I haven't seen one
So school dress codes. I got in trouble yesterday for wearing a camisole that was around my neck area and the principle said it was innappropriate!? She didn't even look at me and the other girls before she proclaimed that all camis were inappropriate. So I had to call my mom to have her bring me a sweatshirt, and she was pissed, not at me but at the school. Now I can't wear any of my shirts because I need to wear camis under them! I have worn them a million times for about three years! I have spent a lot of money on my clothes and now they are telling me, after three years!, not to wear my clothes. So I have to wear a sweatshirt over my clothes until I go shopping, thank goodness it is a vacation. I may post pics later if I can get them off my dad's computer...
Ever have any problems with your dress code? Have you ever gotten in any serious trouble? What do you think about dress codes?

gonk
None of my teachers care about dress codes in my school. Every day I see random girls walking around with their thongs showing and guys wearing their pants low.
Clothes are only innapropriate if a person wears them in an innapropriate way. But telling you years later so you'd have to buy all new clothes is just dumb.

O: I hate our school dress code. We're not allowed to wear shorts/skirts that go below our fingertips when we put them at our sides. =/ Even though I wear shorts shorter than that all the time. -snicker- Never gotten in trouble for that. Our school has a dress code, but they don't enforce it. Dress codes are good, but sometimes they go to far.

My school has the 5 B's rule. No Butt, Back, Boobs, Boxers, or Bra.
& Then we have a bunch of other stupid rules too.

our skirts can't be shorter than 5 inches from the middle of our knee... When I wear skirts shorter than that I wear a long shirt, which I can no longer wear, and pull my skirt down as far as I can without my butt showing when a teacher walks by than I pull it up where it is supposed to go xp

Er, our dress code is worse. All the things you can't have, we can't either plus more. We can't wear hooded sweatshirts. The guys ave to wear collared shirts and slacks. The girls don't have to wear collars any more (thank gosh!) and slacks as well. But some teachers don't really enforce it, while others will give you detention.

Ah dress codes...hate 'em. It opresses our right of freedom to wear what we want. Shouldn't I be allowed to wear what I want! I am in High School after all and we should be allowed what we want to wear. The only thing that our school really opresses is beanies, hats, and bandanas. Mostly because of gang stuff.

OH! Speaking of gang stuff. We're not allowed to do anything "gang-related" Mismatched socks, different colored shoelaces, one pant leg up and one pant leg down, are all considered gang-related. =/

I used to go to a private high school... the public service here really lacks when it comes to education. so I had to wear uniform, which was a either a blue shirt with the school logo, or a white shirt with the logo. also some blue or white polos. We could use any jeans pants we wanted, as long as it wasn't... "offensive". And try to keep with the school colors, blue and white. I used to get some complains from the principal because she thought my pants were too big for me xD Also... any kind of head wear was prohibited, because they consider it to be... not polite
now... in university. you can do whatever you want. Hell, i've seen people in class with their sunglasses in class and the teacher doesn't do anything, well... if it bugs him off he asks the student to take them off, which almost never happens xD

My old school was great for dress code. But they got more stricter and stricter as the years went on. First Year - Basic Uniform, trainers were allowed Second Year- Basic Uniform, only black trainers Third Year - Basic Uniform, proper school shoes Fouth Year - Proper jumpers, no hoodies, basic uniform Fifth and Final Year - Only coats over the top on uniform. If you're not wearing school stuff, you get sent home. Lame really.
But college doesn't have dress code ;3

no spaghetti straps, no holes above the knees, skirts must be where your hands touch your thighs, no hats, no hoods, no "see through" white clothing...

We Had Fire in our eyes... .[My schools dress code is crap. Once I got in trouble because I had pink stripes in my hair and I had had them in my hair for months and they were going to suspend me until I got the pink out but my parents threw a hissy and I didn't have to get them out. Thing was that there wasn't even a rule against the highlights, my principal just didn't like them. But yeah, we have to wear certain shirts and pants. No sweatshirts or jeans.].
