I'm not sure if this fits into "Mystery" or "Other Genres," so I'm sorry if I've misplaced this topic. sweatdrop
Is anyone here a fan of true crime novels? I got started on them in sixth grade with Helter Skelter (the Manson cult/crimes) and have been hooked ever since. I love Ann Rule in particular, even if she does come off as a little pretentious in her writing. One of the few true crime books that I absolutely couldn't stand--although, like all books I begin, I finished it--was Portrait of a Killer by Patricia Cornwell. I like her fictional mysteries, but now I can't even read those because Portrait made me so furious. In it she goes through the Jack the Ripper crimes and comes to a conclusion that basically says, "I, Patricia Cornwell, have solved theses murders! Even though I only spent a couple of years working on this book, and others have dedicated their lives to the subject, I am just that AWESOME!" GAH. scream
Anyway, true crime? Books to recommend? Ones you've loved, ones you've hated, your favorite TC authors?
