Why am I just now hearing about this damned Conficker worm the day before it's supposed to activate?!

I just found out yesterday.
^^;
Apparently they do this every year though.....
And most of the time it's a prank resulting in a
simple scrolling picture virus of people showing
their naughty bits and whatnot/something of the sort.

They've been announcing the Conficker Worm on the news for about a week or so. I updated my antivirus ware and backed up my files just in case, but I haven't seen any issues yet.

Conflicker hasn't been around 'forever'.
It's been around since late 07, and the security loophole, not the virus itself, was patched in October 2008.
As long as you have your definitions updated along with your antivirus, you're fine.
and if you're using a mac, you're immune.
