Webpage Title

A few key details:

-No loading times
-No text boxes. Things like newspapers are readable, and the main character will say things aloud to provide details on other things.
-No weapons, instead there will be monsters constantly hunting you while in the nightmare world. They track your scent, communicate with each other, jump over fences, pull YOU off a fence if you're not quick enough, etc. You get it, they're not stupid, it's going to be tense.
-Probably the best lighting effects the Wii has seen. Apparently even snowflakes cast shadows when exposed to the flashlight.
-The game itself will change on the fly depending on your actions. If you look at a girlie calendar on the wall before taking a map, the game takes note of that and will change what people think of you, when you meet them, etc. You could probably play through this game 10 times and have a different overall experience each time.

And a bunch more I've forgotten already. This game is also coming to the PS2 and PSP, but the Wii is the lead platform. This game is really sounding amazing. It's like what Sadness was going to be, except it's real!

I still stand adamantly against this game. Constant running does not fear equal. Fear is what Silent Hill did best- keeping you constantly afraid that the next baddy you're going to come across will be too strong for the weak a** weapon you have, and more importantly, limiting the places you can run. Being cornered, physically, emotionally, and mentally is what Silent Hill does best.

No text boxes ftw and the graphics look pretty neat too.
Haven't played Silent Hill in years, I used to play it as a kid on the PS. I always thought it was scary anyway. =P

No text boxes? Then what's the menu like?

The cell phone basically replaces the menu. You save on it, access the map, etc. It's the same thing, only it doesn't pull you out of the game, and apparently monsters can still attack while you have it out.

I saw a big article in Nintendo Power about it, and it looks awesome blaugh

But if I've never played a Silent Hill game, will I get it? Or will it be incredibly confusing? neutral

Uhh, it's a remake of the first one, with only the combat thing being the big change. Since it's the first, pretty much, you shouldn't get too confused. Although I'm playing the PS1 game and I'm already confused. xD
I'm guessing that another reason for this game is to get a new generation of gamers into Silent Hill since the first one was made like, ten years ago.

It's following the story of the first game, so probably not.

I won't buy this because of the scariness factor, but if I wasn't such a puss-a**, I probably would. I find the idea of no weapons whatsoever, however, a little hard to comprehend. Aren't there, um, bosses in Silent Hill? Like, what're you gonna do, beat them to death with your flashlight? neutral

I have no idea. I'm really curious to find out though. I hope we get to see it in motion at E3.

In fact, because Harry has no weapons at his disposal to speak of -- this is a choice designed to heighten the sense of defenselessness and amplify fear; I've seen some reader complaints about this decision, but I love it -- he'll have to be quick on his feet to outsmart the mutilated enemies who pursue him. They aren't exactly dumb, either.

That whole thing right there tells me we are going to just run for our lives, get them to kill each other(unlikely), or last for a certain time before 'dying'(like your first encounter died but lived).

I'm betting that there will be safe rooms which are heated or something, because the monsters are supposedly really weak to heat. That may also be the theme of boss fights.

Well that's a lame gimmick. I was thinking maybe you could like, trick them into impaling themselves or push them off a building or something.
