Ever since I heard Mozart's Oboe Concerto in C, I really loved the sound of the oboe. So I'm looking for some Oboe pieces, and I'm quite sure that there are oboists here. :]
Please and thank you~ And some EPIC Piano and Cello pieces too. 8D

Hey Requiem, im acually an oboist. I just finished performing the Marcello oboe concerto yesterday. =)
Your going to find more Baroque pieces for the oboe than anything else. The best stuff for oboe was written in the baroque period. But there are also some other major works with good solos in them. Lets see how many I can come up with.
- Albinoni, Vivaldi, Marcello, Bach, Handal, Corelli, Telemann, and Cimarosa, wrote many many good Baroque concertos for oboe.
- I've always loved Mozarts concerto for oboe, clarinet, bassoon, and horn in E flat Major.
- Mozart's quartet for oboe, violin, viola, and cello in F major.
- Oboe Concerto 2 - Minuet and Musette - by Vaughan Williams
- Beethovens oboe trio (Two oboes and an English Horn)
- Gabriel Faure wrote a piece for oboe and harp I like.
- Bach's Brandenburg Concertos feature a lot of oboe.
- Prokofiev wrote some stuff for oboe.
- Dvorak always includes oboe nicely in his major pieces, if you can learn to listen for it. His Slavonic Dances have a lot of oboe.
- Strauss 2 wrote a lot of oboe solos into his waltzes.
- The beginning of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake is a major oboe solo.
-Erik Satie Gymnopedie No 3, Orchestrated by Debussy feature oboe very beautifully in the recording I have.
Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherezade 2 has an AWESOME oboe solo in it after the violin and bassoon solos.
If you listen to the background of Borodin's Polovstian Dances (Prince Igor) Its an oboe accompanying (cant spell it) the choir. Its beautiful.
Thats about all i've come up with for the moment. There is still sooo much more out there for oboe.
