The first issue of the guild e-zine is coming along smoothly, and will be up for everyone to see on the 1st Feb 2005.

So now we need to start thinking about next month's issue. We only have one month to do this one, so we really need to get everything moving much more quickly.

The April issue will focus on web design, and some light web development. So far I'm thinking of the following articles:

- a quick overview of Dreamweaver and its features
- html basics tutorial - Raine Dragon
- css basics tutorial
- explanation of what css is, why it is useful, and advantages over using basic html for design - BlancoMorir
- how to make a basic php email form -
- how to create an image map (both the php ones used in Gaia sigs, and the normal html ones you do in Dreamweaver)
- using Photoshop to make a design concept - Chisa
- using Photoshop & slicing to make a design concept - SilverVixen
- web tips and hints - will take from thread
- a quick look into accessibility and coding to w3c standards
- a calendar wallpaper, featuring original artwork only please, in 3 sizes: 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x1024 - retrokitty
- featured member - crew will choose, I'll send out the interview to that person

If you can write any of the articles that don't currently have writers, or have another idea for an article you'd like to write or like to see, please post in this thread.

I'll need all articles in .doc format by 25th March 2005. Attach the article and any images, and send to gdguild@gmail.com .

I know its not a lot of time, but those articles then need to be html-ified and pictures added, so I really need those 8 days to get everything tidied up before the issue goes live. Please do not offer to write an article if you don't actually have time to get it to me by that time.

I'll also need people to proof read and html-ifiy articles after they are written.

I'll write an explanation of what css is, why it is useful, and advantages over using basic html for design. No problem with that at all. Did you ever send those articles that needed proof reading and html to me for this last issue?

If it comes down to the wire I can do the brief over view of accesibility and standards also. I would only like one to start with since I am usually quite busy.

I can do an intro to HTML or CSS tutorial, wichever or both depending on what other people want to do and I am more than happy to convert stuff to HTML for you ^__^ heart

mmm. that would help me on my current project. It is so much easier to make it in PS than to break it up and put it dreamweaver manually. Teach me oh wise (and beautiful) one.

Yay! ^_^ Okay, I'll put you down for HTML basics, and if you can finish it by 18th and no one else has volunteered for CSS, I'll ask you to do that one as well. With the HTML one, don't worry about tags that have become depracated with CSS (like the tags, etc), and don't forget to talk about doctypes, if you can 3nodding

I'm hoping we won't have to worry about converting if we can get the b2evo thing set up in time... if it turns out that its not suitable and we have to do things manually, I'll write a script to convert it (can't be that hard... right?).

im so tempted to kick them when they r in the way when i am serving drinks .. esp when ben is making faces at me from inside the lions head ... i guess ill be the one to sweep up the cabbage bits again >.<

If you need something written about PHP, XHTML, CSS, or whatnot...let me know. Or if you need some basics on Photoshop, I might be able to help there...
