And I don't mean the cold kind.
I was writing a fanfic last night during my midnight shift, and this is what fell out of my pen:
Suddenly Isaac was on his feet and looming over Mark. His voice was as soft velvet, but as cold as a glacier. “When Rome was at its peak, anyone who opposed Cesar was put to an ugly, agonizing death of slow asphyxiation on the cross. It wielded the power of fear over every conquered people in the empire. Regardless of your belief in the Messiah known as Jesus, using the cross as a holy ward is akin to deifying the swastika.” He reached out and plucked the cross from Mark's hands and crumpled it as if it were made of tin foil. He dropped the ball of metal on the floor contemptuously. “Rome and its cross hold no power over one such as I.”
This is actually how I feel about the cross, but I never expected it to come out in a vampire fanfic of all places. razz I was just curious if anyone else has ever experienced that strange "I wasn't sure I could write that" feeling.

I have. Seriously, when I get extremely excited over some brilliant idea (that somehow doesn't get finished) or during roleplaying here on Gaia. I've written stuff without thinking about it, then experienced that "wow" feeling. ^.^

good gods, that's chilling! ._.
but yes, i have written a few things that i didn't think i could... one in fact i specifically planned to write, kept telling myself i couldn't, and then did without thinking about it consiously, just stuck in my "it's gonna fail" thoughts...
and then... i read it.... i spaced out in pure shock.

OK, I'm writing this PWP (Plot? What Plot?) and this little snipped sort of burst out of my fingers, and now it's kinda creeping me out, kinda motivating me to write more:
“Now, me buck-o,” Zaide addressed Brant amiably as he threw his arm around Brant's shoulders. “We're going to have a little chat. See, Talon and I don't much care for how you snub Miss Fiona at every turn. Your silence just makes me sick. Why she tries help you, I'll never understand. You are broken. You failed the training; you're not good enough to lick her feet. You should have been put out of your misery, but Miss Fiona found some strange attraction in you and rescued you. So I'll put this simply for your broken little mind: Put one toe out of line, and I'll finish the agency's work with you.”
Brant looked away, uncomfortable.
“Don't worry, bub. I'll make sure she won't even miss you,” Zaide promised with a cruel smile.

no, i can't. i just now had to go an smoke one of my last 2 Cigars, that's how upset it got me.
here's teh thing. my name is Zachery Conner Hall. the girl i hate is sydney reid. she pretended to be some kind of whimpling adorable little girl, played off of my weakness for cute things, and then forced me to molest her in a public place when i was 18 and she was 15. she then claimed me as her slave, and neglected me during all that time. whenever i would contact her she would either tell me to go away, and that she was busy or that she was in a bitchy mood. the latter was when it was ok to talk. she abused me during those times, and she has raped me a couple times, once with a d***o 18 inches long and 2 inches thick. her reasoning for it was that she was preparing me emotionally for if anyone tried to rape me.

Oh, wow. Sorry for randomly picking the wrong names. sweatdrop I picked "Sidney" because I'm a big fan of Sydney Bristow of Alias, and "Conner" for the Sarah Conner Chronicles. My Sidney is an independent heiress who got roped into purchasing 2 sex slaves and saving another from being euthanized. She's considerably more emo than your sidney. I think I might change the names now. >_<
Anything I can do to help take your mind off things? Seriously, I feel guilty now.

1.) sydney reid is extremely emo. she preys on bad-boys and whores herself out as a means to try to fill that empty hole in her soul.
2.) you don't need to change the names of your characters. what's done is done, and i won't be reading that story of yours anyway. even if i did, it wouldn't change the emotions it gives me, and the names were just one hook anyway. you did a good job writing, realy. i have personal hang-ups, that's all.
3.) you don't need to feel guilty, it wasn't your fault. how were you supposed to know?
4.) i am feeling calmer now, so it's all good. i appologize for getting all worked up and going on about my sob-story. i had a Cigar, and have lots of other things to distract myself with.

1. I don't think your ghost and my fictional character are anything alike. When I said emo, I meant she was agonizing over the crime of purchasing human flesh--especially when her purchases were so brainwashed she couldn't liberate them. If anything, she's emo in the opposite way.
2. Now that you've shared the story, I am changing the names. Empathy is a curse, sometimes.
3. I know I don't NEED to feel guilty, but I do anyway. I love being able to pull out strong emotions with my writing, but not that strong.
4. I'm glad you're feeling better. Still, if there's anything I can do, please let me know. I'm just killing time tonight anyway, since I'm working a night shift with an incredibly easy client.

That sounds so cool. I've never been to a concert in my life--unless you include my high school band and jazz choir, which I don't. razz
