Hello everyone! Liri here. ^.~ Good news and bad news.. Then more good and bad.. ^^;
Some bad first just to get it out of the way... Im single again which means I had to move. But dont worry! Im ok! ^^
Good news is, I moved in with a really cool friend of mine and everything is working out. More bad news.. The room ive been given to stay in is just a mess! A complete wreck! Another friend of his has been using it for storage and shes just thrown all this junk in it! So its going to be a pain! But as I was cleaning it, I thought "Im not just going to clean it, im going to give this room a makeover!" and not just any makeover! A cute lolita room! So I will be putting up pictures of my progress and im really hoping you all will help me out with suggestions and ideas! Its going to be hard to work on in between my busy work hours and everything, and my money is a little limited, but Im going to try hard! Wish me luck~!
Here are some of the pictures taken today... DAAAYYYY 1!!

EDIT: to minimize scrolling and whatnot, as I update days, im going to change the previous days to direct links.

My first suggestion is cute drapes and cute poles for the drapes to hang from. o.O Those drapes are SO old and reeeeeaaaly ugly. T.T

Whats the floor like? I cant tell but is it carpet? Wood floors would be better, but get a really cute rug for it.

Are you going for more gothic, classic, or sweet lolita look?

That vanity has potential.
If I were going to do lolita decorating, I might go for a classic feel because it would be more versatile. But! It's not my room.

. . . Yeah the drapes HAVE to go.. I think im going to go more for a cute sweet look, which is strange because every room ive ever had has been in the red/black/gothic area.. The floor is carpet, and I hate it.. But I dont know what condition the wood floor under it is. If its too bad, then I will indeed stick to a cute rug.. The carpet is kind of grayish blue.. Here is a picture of the fabric i got for the new drapes, I started painting the walls a pale yellow last night, and im going to trim in the white with blue accents..

. . . Got alot of the cleaning and whatnot done today! Have to get up early though so new day 2 pictures will probably be put on tomorrow ^^..

I love the new fabric! That's very nice. And I love the color choices, it will bring a lot of life into the room and probably open it up more too. ^_^

OH! One of the things I REALLY want to get is a cute bed frame. I love wrought iron, and like a cute curly iron headboard and foot board. I dunno if black would work for what your going for, but white would, or you could paint it blue or yellow to match. <3

Another thing I also thought of was a chandelier, not a full sized one, but just a small medium/mini one above your bed.

I'm just giving you all the ideas I've thought of for my own dream lolita room. But since I live with my girlfriend... she's not all lolita-gung-ho... she likes the very modern sleek black look... the polar opposite of what I want. But when we get our own place I'll have my own room to do with as I please. lol

DAY 2

User Image

. . . So last night I didnt get as much as I would have liked done, but thankfully, a lot of the cleaning and picking up was done.. The yellow paint is.. well.. im a little iffy on it, as it turned out a lot more yellow than I would have liked it to be so I might be making a run fore a softer yellow. The carpet is just disgusting.. Not dirty or anything but its just a horrible color. So last night I kept asking my friend if I could do things, and finally, he said the magic words... "Just do whatever you want." Yay! So the floor under the carpet is not too bad, and its going to look nice when I get it ripped up. Since I didnt get much done last night, I thought I would show you all a picture I plan on using for the walls. Also, I got the dresser cleaned up, and luckily, its not in bad condition so, I will be painting it white and yellow to match. ^^

http://i960.photobucket.com/albums/ae81/lirium/Makeover/Day 2/makeoverday2002.jpg
The Closet Area.. wet paint.. woo! This is why I think the yellow is too bright but.. I'll check it out in the day time and see if it works or not.

http://i960.photobucket.com/albums/ae81/lirium/Makeover/Day 2/makeoverday2005.jpg
This is the pole to hold up the mountain of clothes I have.. Its going to be covered by a blue fabric so you cant see how ugly it really is XD

http://i960.photobucket.com/albums/ae81/lirium/Makeover/Day 2/makeoverday2006.jpg
These poor little mini closets are going to be cleaned out, all her crap is going away. Yay! The bottoms are getting drawers soon, and the tops will be shelves for shoes.

http://i960.photobucket.com/albums/ae81/lirium/Makeover/Day 2/makeoverday2013.jpg
Finally I got one of those ugly curtains off the wall.. Some sanding and paint will really help these window frames!

http://i960.photobucket.com/albums/ae81/lirium/Makeover/Day 2/makeoverday2015.jpg
Some paint and care will really help this dresser too! Im excited to get it all cleaned up!

http://i960.photobucket.com/albums/ae81/lirium/Makeover/Day 2/makeoverday2016.jpg
This is a picture I plan on having in there.. Ive had it for years but Ive never hung it up. It will be getting a new frame.. What do you guys think?

That wide dresser is GORGEOUS!!
I think the work you're putting into this is spectacular so far!!
And kudos to you for sticking to your goals -
I recently had to rearrange my bedroom a bit,
and even though I told myself "I'll clean it up this weekend,"
here it is well past the weekend and it's still in disarray. ._.

I am in loooooove with that painting!
The items you have in this room are PERFECT
for a rococo-inspired living space!

I haven't heard anyone else mentioning that big wooden trunk
in your first post - I think with a clean white paint job,
that's another piece that could look great!
I'd paint it to match the dresser -
you might even be able to get them to look like coordinating pieces!

The painting is lovely!
I might actually base the color scheme of the room around it, mostly a creamy yellow, like you already have or at least seem to be aiming for, with pretty blue accents. Which is what you seem to be doing. Ignore me.
I really admire the effort you're putting into this. It's coming along great.

. . . OK guys! Heres my problem... How should I arrange this... I took measurments of the room and made a scaled down picture with everything the right size, and im going to put it here so you guys can help me. Everything is the right measurments so anything you guys come up with should work! If you can right click and save this picture, then open it in your Paint program, maybe you can come up with a better room design than I am! I really need your help guys! Please, if you can, send me your ideas on room arrangement! But please try not to cover any of the windows with the shelf! ^^;; I may have to get the best room layout a reward!

By the way, this is similar to how the bed looks, so you can use your imagination!

For the canopy, a DIY one should be simple enough. Craft from scratch should get you something like this:

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_OWC2FfPR2k8/SoAPiuwMh-I/AAAAAAAADXc/VbP66Y-9vxE/s400/ruthiesommers.jpg

There's a lot of variations and tutorials, but it involves some fixtures to the wall. Something more simple would be what I have, just an Ikea canopy that hangs from one ceiling hook, then you can pin or sew it up however you like. Here's one just hanging:

http://img.diytrade.com/cdimg/448640/3066618/0/1165979811/Canopy_Circular_Bed_Canopy_Mosquito_net_canopy_bed_moving_storage.jpg

And here's mine after I pinned it up and put some lights on it.

This is the light kit I used, can find it at a craft or hobby shop usually.

http://www.amazon.com/Klutz-2201-Room-Lanterns-Kit/dp/B000BXJTFI

A curtain over the closet area to close it off without installing doors, just use a curtain rod from IKEA or something, just simple screw into the wall, mostly stays up with pressure though, and you can make your own simple curtain, maybe to match the drapes.

And finish it out with a nice rug.

Faux, of course. I've got an orange tiger pelt like this, personally. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3653/3352542846_c321d24547.jpg
Adds that nice I-come-from-money touch without actually having to spend the money or kill an animal.

Might or might not work, depends on the frame of the daybed, but you may not want it up in that corner, but more towards the bookcase and centered against the window. In which case, you could always forget the canopy and just go crazy with the closet curtain and drapes.
