Holy crap I didn't resort to a tongue n' cheek thread name using the first part of my user-name and c-words with a K!

Ahem anyways cult

The Point Of The Thread:
Post bands/genres your looking into, share your thoughts, likes, dislikes as you delve into the band/genre etc:etc: SHARE YOUR RESEARCH!!!

I'll start I suppose, I'm currently looking into the grunge genre to vary my taste in that genre. I'm temporarily tired of looking for metal that's not sounding like someones flushing a toilet when they sing. Or SCREAMO-HYBRID vocals. Techno is fine without my research because all I need to do is turn on BPM:TV when I need to a quick techno fix.

Grunge I feel is neglected in my library, because honestly all I can name really when it comes to them and for music would be. Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, L7, and a small litter of others I'm tired so I can't recall them. So I looked up "Sound Garden" so far all I can really say is.

I'm on their 4th Album and it's expanded to 11.
(no not a spinal tap jok,e honestly it's eleven songs total from albums one to four. Four being the one I'm listening to right now. )

"Gun" and "Let Me Drown" are the current favorites out of the bunch not including "Spoon Man" "Black Hole Sun" "Pretty Noose" "Jesus Christ Pose" "Pretty Noose" and "Rusty Cage"

I know some can find grunge depressing, but I in general find it hauntingly mellow. Considering my preferred taste in music being mostly metal, and industrial stuff.

This just reminded me I forgot to look up Lynyrd Skynyrd. My friend got really angry that I'd never heard of them. And now I know why. They are awesome. 3nodding Anyone else know of any popular rock bands like this that I may not have heard of? Also, strangely enough, despite The Beatles being arguably the best band of all time, I can't find many bands similar to them. The most similar I have found are Badfinger and The Who. Both very awesome bands. In fact, The Who are probably my 2nd favorite band.

Also, couldn't this thread just be called 'The Music Thread'?

I think The Byrds sound kinda like early Beatles, though I've only ever heard "Turn! Turn! Turn!"

I would say I can look into the pop genre of music, only I noticed a recurring pattern with the entire genre(and I dont like it either).

this may just be me, but every single best selling pop song I have ever heard, the singers all sound exactly the same. each song is different if you read the lyrics, this is obvious, but listening to them...its like they have all been edited by the same guy who has such a unique hearing deficiency that it makes him think they all sound different when thats not the case.

but thats most of music today, my mother said if you heard a song on the radio back when she was a kid, you knew exactly who it was right away, but today its all just blended together

aside from this I want to look more into Irish punk, I already know about flogging molly and I love them because i'm a sucker for violins and fiddles. or perhaps music outside of the U.S, each group no matter how good or bad that I have heard has a defining sound to their music that makes them unique and separate.

Meh. I feel that discussing music opens up a can of worms. I simply don't care for certain genres of music. I don't have the ears for those types of genres.

If something's popular and you don't see the why it's so great; it's just not your genre. To claim others have a hearing deficiency because they enjoy a genre you don't enjoy is just...arrogant.

Art in general is subjective and you can't base a piece of one genre on the standards and direction of another. It's like judging a roast beef dish on how it would be as a dessert or judging a Picasso painting as a piece of pornography. It's a possible judgement to make, but you'd be interpreting it with the incorrect mindset.

TL;DR
Music discussion is Flame Bait. And Stop fappin' to Picasso. : D

It was just a simple discuss and share your general thoughts of new stuff you've looked into, weather others give a flying ******** or not about your band or genre my chap.

P.S. Your post about saying "no-no" in general was as long as my initial post your crafty t**t. xp

K. Contributing.

I'm listening to Lady Gaga's Albums.
I enjoy it. I'm a Pop sorta person.

Favorite track is the Summerboy Bonus track. It reminds me of No Doubt.

metal that's not sounding like someones flushing a toilet when they sing. Or SCREAMO-HYBRID vocals.

Brocas Helm - Cry of the Banshee
Judas Priest - Painkiller
Judas Priest - Metal Meltdown
Judas Priest - Battle Hymn/One Shot at Glory
Motörhead - Ace of Spades
Ozzy Osbourne - Mr. Crowley
Diamond Head - Am I Evil?
Mötley Crüe - Dr. Feelgood
Skid Row - Youth Gone Wild

And, of course,
Tenacious D - The Metal

I can get more. Way more. These are just the more obvious ones.

(I've gotten into a lot of metal recently.)
("Recently" here meaning "since the release of Brutal Legend back in October".)

Alright. I like listening to Classic Rock. My favorite band is the Steve Miller Band. Some of their songs sound alike, but they are good. Abracadabra, Jet Airliner, and Jungle love would be my favorites.

Also, I am listening to, "Punk goes Classic Rock" right now on iTunes. A bunch of Punk bands covering Classic Rock songs. I like it! Currently, Hit the Lights is singing Free Fallin' by Tom Petty.
