Welcome to Gaia! ::

This tale does not take place on our Earth, though perhaps it's not that different a world. The starting location is a patchy forest, safely nestled away in a valley amidst the mountains. The characters of our tale are creatures somewhat like the animals of our world. They were once called Majuu; they were the mysterious beasts who could wield supernatural powers no human could ever hope to control. But due to a relatively recent technological breakthrough, they are now called Pocket Monsters. Yes, the beasts have begun to be tamed.

Well, perhaps tamed is too harsh a word. The once-Majuu are much like you and me. They have feelings and complex ideas. If you help one who is wounded, you will gain its trust and gratitude. If you challenge it to a friendly duel and win, you will earn its respect. If you have taken one as your companion and can command it successfully in one of those duels, it will grow stronger and love you all the more. In reality, they are comrades to the humans... or at least, the humans who treat them kindly.

But this particular sparsely-wooded valley has not known humans for a thousand years. Who will you be? Will you make friends or enemies? Could you even be the first human to set eyes on this valley for generations?

Take a deep breath, and enter the world of Pokémon.

Okay, guys. Here's how it works. On your first post, please give the following info. You can start right in with the action in the same post.

We won't have preestablished nicknames, though the characters are free to come up with them as the story progresses and they get friendly with each other. Don't get too crazy with your background info, we'll find out more about you as we go along.

You can be a species from any of the four regions. No legendaries unless you ask me first via PM. Pseudo-legendaries like Dratini are okay. Same thing with a human/Trainer character: ask first.

If you feel like getting into a battle, here are the guidelines.
1. You don't have to "forget" moves to only use four at a time, like in the games. I'm sure a real critter would be able to do more than four things.
2. We won't use tricky formulas based on attack power or stats. Just keep an idea of how experienced your character is (like level, but looser), and use common sense to determine if attacks hit and how much damage they do. Or course, feel free to be descriptive and work in things like aim or attempted dodges.
3. If you don't know much about Pokémon mechanics, do your research. Keep track of what type your Pokémon and its moves are so you know your strengths and weaknesses. Think about how powerful one move may be compared to another, or how a particular species will probably have higher defense than another, etc. I would recommend Bulbapedia for all your research needs.
4. No godmodding. Your attacks may or may not hit, depending on what the next player deems appropriate.

2. Try your best to keep up with the action. We won't blacklist you or anything if you don't, but it's appreciated.

Bio: Is a loner and very curious of new things that he sketches on walls or the ground before confronting.

Smeargle strolled about through the trees before he stopped and looked up a short distance away from a clearing and took the opportunity to the worn notepad from a garbage can to draw the look of the green and red leaves and the gap in the trees.

Ker-sploosh! Nidoran held her breath and paddled through the water, peering curiously into the aqua depths. A Wooper swam up beneath her, and she tried to say a friendly hello but just made a lot of bubbles. Soon she paddled upwards and broke the surface, inhaling gratefully. She paddled the last few feet to the opposite bank and began to shake herself off vigorously, unaware that someone was trying to paint several feet away.

Thq Quilava grinned and sat on it's haunches, giggleing to itself at the mischeif the two from earlier were causing. "Cynder! Hey, run and get your mom some Payapa berries from the lake shore!" Cynder sighed and replied with an "Okay..." He trotted off, through the valley and into the brush and tenderadge, admiring the vivid coloring. "Fall is beautiful~...Hm? Oh, hey! Mister, do you know where a young Quilava could find some Payapa berries?" He stumbled upon a Smeargle that seemed to be napping. He really didn't want to disturb him, but he also didn't want to hear his mama Ninetales' mouth.

"Hm? Hello? ...Guess he's asleep..." Cynder turned around and headed off in another direction, scanning the area for any plants. Something caught his eye as he was walking, though. It was a young female Nidoran. "Hey, uh excuse me, miss! Do you know where I could find some Payapa berries?"

She saw now that the other creature was a Quilava. She shrank a little bit, timid, because he was about three times her height. He seemed nice enough, though. "Payapa?" she echoed. "I remember seeing Payapa plants before, though I don't remember the exact place..." She looked back down the rise, gazing at the pond and the field beyond it. "I'm pretty sure they were down this way. Wanna look for 'em?"

A bit of background: Lives in the forest with his friend Kirlia, whom he has been friends with for years. Wants to become strong and someday defeat a legendary pokemon.

Riolu came stumbling back into the hollow of a massive tree in the centre of the forest where he and Kirlia lived. He had spent the day collecting berries. particulary the ones that were going out of season soon.
"Would you like a hand collecting those?" Kirlia asked him.
"Naw" he replied "besides, you're still not feeling well". He began to mix some Sitrus and Pecha berries to make a juice that would cure her cold.
the he realised that he would also need some Oran berries.
"I'll be back shortly, just gotta grab some Oran berries".
"Okay" Kirlia nodded and drifted off to sleep.
Riolu grabbed his backpack and headed off towards the river where the trees grew.

Willis shook himself dry. He walked over to a bush with fruits like eggplants. As he went to pick one, the fruit began to swell. He looked over to see two pokemon heading his way. He picked a payapa and started to eat.
