Aang's arrows, because in all truth, having scars is not fun.
Poor Zuko can't even fully open his scarred eye... and I can imagine the nerve pain he'd have if something hit his face!

The arrows identify you as an airbending master. That sounds much nicer than being torched by fire and suffering the pain of having a huge facial scar for the rest of your life...
