I know that the creators just made them to give their program's voices, faces.

But they ARE the voices now.
The characters themselves are more popular then the program itself.

Miku even has her own Dating-Sim.

My husband has the "Project Diva" video game as well as the Vocaloid 2 program. (@_@) He's sadly obsessed with both.

He really wanted to cosplay as Miku/Kaito to the convention this year, but we will not be going. Mmmm.

Actually ... and I hate to sound like a nerd here... The female in Black Rock Shooter is not Miku. She is an Original Character created by one of the artists who draw Miku.

Yeah, I know that the BRS-girl isn't miku, but she was created similarly.

Plus, I don't know her name.
So "Dark Miku" seems adequate until then.
