Sonic doesn't need cut scenes. His older games were a hit, and they had none.

With cutscenes or exposition in a game about speed, it seems kind of counter productive.

Unleashed might have been good with cutscenes, but that was the only cushion for how bad it was.

It's either a hit or a miss with Sonic these days.

Just give us speed, and we'll give you money.

That's what I think anyway.

You just don't appreciate the subtle intricacies of Ryan Drummonds' voice acting!

The way he says "ahhh," it is to express concern for the person that is going to crash.

The older games did have ways to tell the story though, most notably Sonic 3, where you start out Super Sonic flying with the Tornado, and then crash and Knuckles steals your s**t. Granted, none of the cutscenes are necessary, and they're short, it's a step forward for the games to add some reasoning for what you're doing, and Sonic Team's only real strength as of late has been that they always make very good-looking cutscenes.

I'd like that too, but a lot of it is just nostalgia for me. If we'd been brought up with this Sonic voice, as odd as it may seem, we'd want them to go back to it.
