Rp description: A steampunk style roleplay set in a war-torn land featuring an industrious and large capital city recovering from a civil war. Magic does exist, but it is very rare in Arogencia and has not yet been harnessed in technology or industry here. In this world women are of a higher social class to men.

History: The Empire of Arogencia and The Divide

SPACER Arogencia once spanned across twenty countries, even across the Great Divide into the wild lands where none had ever ventured before. It was a much feared nation, boasting an expansive army and a booming economy. However, as with all good things, it had to come to an end. As technology and the industrial boom took a hold of the empire cracks began to grow in the iron rule as countries within its empire started to rally for independence. Fights broke out which turned into rebellion, which inevitably turned into a great war we now call "The Divide". Named so because Arogencia lost most of its empire within the countless years of constant battles. She managed to hold on to a few countries here and there, but she was broken and weak which made her a target for the now strong nations surrounding her.

Her borders, still to this day, are far from safe with clashes breaking out sporadically when to large masses of soldiers meet or encroach too far over a blurred border line.

There was a great deal of fighting within her capital too, with a civil war looming only a couple of years after The Divide. This civil war was about politics, of course, and about the lower classes wanting a say in their country. The royal family was stripped of power at the end of it and it was probably through sheer luck that they remain in their palaces and grand houses as figureheads now. That was 27 years ago. Now Arogencia still fights for her life, trying to push her way through a famine and crippling inflation.

Description: Arogencia's capital Islinghall and her districts

SPACER Islinghall is a sprawling network of rails and houses. The only organised part of this city is inside the inner walls, huge towering cliffs of fortified walls bearing the scars of war. There are three large gatehouses along these walls, one on the North, the East, and the South-West that leads straight to the docks. Inside these great walls lies the original sets of barracks for the armies along with the Grand Station that sits almost dead center. The station was a retrospective addition to what is referred to as the 'inner sanctum' and sits across the large parade grounds opposite the palace. Also in this area are the large houses belonging to the very few wealthy citizens, as well as a park - although the plants and animals in this area are suffering heavily from the pollution and decay of the city.

Outside these walls is the sprawling mess of cheap housing and factories. There are districts, divided by smaller stone fortifications or, in the newer areas, separated by wooden palisades. Each gatehouse and gate has a garrison in an attempt to bring down crime in the city although each district has its own set of gangs and criminal underworlds.

Outside of these walls and fences you will find the wastelands war created and the slums. There used to be fields of crops, but most have failed or been destroyed. Through the wreckage you can find a few main roads that lead to places, and occasionally a merchant caravan will come toddling towards the city, but it is rare you'll find amicable company in the wastes. Usually the only people that wander around those parts are scavengers, the wastelanders. A few manage to make profitable trips into the dangerous surroundings, but many don't try. Most of the trade for the city - and indeed all of its import - comes through the docks which are heavily guarded with regular patrols around the streets. It is possibly the safest and cleanest district of the city.
